Crazy I was working late and I watched this game on her stream in the background and asked her about the three cistern. She explained that she’s able to get it going with pretty competitive timing and it gives her a lot of power in feudal. She said she normally goes triple upgrade but she was experimenting with going just double broad axe to give her the ability to put on more early pressure. Just prior someone asked about how you fight against ottoman and she said by flanking them. This was a masterclass.
That was an impressive display on Faye’s part. Masterfully maneuvering her forces from multiple angles and using the full potential of the late game momentum of the Byzantines.
@@V-a-s-hmainly it’s their ability to generate a lot of Olive Oil income through their farming to buy up a variety of mercenaries, or go Palatine School in Imperial Age and get a trickle of free units as a reward for producing core units. They can really have a strong sustained buildup for their army and keep up the pressure in the late game. You saw just how much Faye’s forces often outnumbered the Ottomans throughout the match, outpacing their own passive army buildup the Ottomans have with their military schools and the MIA.
20:35 the way they determine whether a civ can eat the boar is entirely historically (not for balance). The Muslim empires do not eat pig since it is not halal.
Honestly Drongo is superb. Absolutely the most real, authentic and professional host; he's fantastic. We're lucky to have him! 🥂 I love playing the game but I know they can tend to be longer matches sometimes and I don't always have the time--so watching the best of the best gameplay is awesome. And nobody does it like Aussie Drongo lol dude is amazing. Cheers from California lol
Honestly such a brilliant match! It was back and forth and Faye played brilliantly. So satisfying to watch such great play from her! I definitely did use to think she wasn't the best player but obviously I'm a bronze player (well gold lol) so what do I know? But wow she was brilliant in this game. The flanking was so satisfying and controlling that many armies at once (AND building a keep and setting up the cistern to the gold at the same time) how many hands does she have?!?! GG wp
I absolutely love playing AoE but i'm not competitive. I love sitting here on slow nightshifts watching real competitive play from the top players. Having the Aussie sat commenting also makes it so much more worth watching!!
-25% attack speed works out to -25% dps even with armor. It sounds wrong because in most games armor is a percent reduction. but in aoe4 armor is a flat subtraction from damage, so changes in attack speed change dps directly. armor would affect reduced attack dmg. for instance -25% attack damage would be -25% dps with 0 armor, but when the target has armor -25% attack damage is >25% dps reduction.
I remember how everyone would say how hard and bad byzantines are, especially after the nerfs, but Faye truly mastered and show the great potential of the Byzantines.
Im not AOE4 player but this Byzantine architecture is amazing so cool my favorite civilization easy in AOE4. Im buying the game just to play with this civ.
I think the 4 pronged flank is more for the show and doesn't really work since you won't be able to micro at that speed which is exactly what happened here. All here meat shield just got melted by the mangonels.
I’m not understanding the score system. Faye has had the largest army and seems killed the most; Innovation has had more vils; Is the point differential because of the vil production?
Is the bug where you can place all cistern for only 50 stone fixed? Last week I played a 4v4 and all 4 opponents used this bug to get 5 cistern for basically nothing lol
Pls, can the developers nerf the fkn Otomans? why their great bombards do splash damage against the army? The otomans never used the fkn bombards against soldiers is stupid, they used it against walls, forts and ships is documented. And why they never used against soldiers cos they were inaccurate in their shots failing for more than 80 mts. Nerf the fkn bombards, let the great damage against buildings and a little damage against soldiers (like the french canon). The ballanced in aoe4 late game is freaking me out; the game is ok until third age.
ottomans didnt use artillery on units?? lol just check battle of mohacs. literally annexed entire kingdom of hungary in a 2 hours long battle with bombards.
@@gokcancakmak3739 majority of the battle involved infantry and cavalry, while in the early days you had some early pioneers for early gun craft etc. But it was the foot units and horse riders that got involved in the majority of the battle, early cannons etc. were a minor involvement and had less impact in the battle itself, considering the fact that the ottoman armies made up mostly of around 50 to 100,000 military forces on ground or on horse while the guns, as well as cannons were less in numbers such as around 300 or 400. in the 1500s is still the early period where early technology did not really have much impact compared to the modern days where you have advanced technology which can be used to cause high impact without using pure numbers of military units.
@@AaronOmar-co8bn You are right with every word but im not saying half of the army was artillery. i know a significant amount of the army were cannons and guns but still we are talking about a time most of the eu powers didnt even had any kind of gun craft. if we consider the time we can say one of the important part about turkish army was cannons since it was the biggest gap between them and their rivals. also its not a secret that those cannons were huge compared to any kind of cannons built in that time. so i see no problem putting great cannons in aoe4 to match the authenticity of the turkish empire in a rts game
@@gokcancakmak3739 your right, ottoman empire was known for their "great bombard" or known as a significant cannon. the very weapon which unlocked the key to Constantinople.

Laughing my actual ass off. Faye chain peaked at 2100 elo, innovation at 1500. She has 5000+ matches. He has a few hundred. And you guys are congratulating her on such a well played game. If I play a match against a much easier opponent I am going to play much better because there's so much less pressure giving you mental freedom to apply it elsewhere.

Played against someone who went lvl 5 cistern in dark age. He lost but I respected the hustle
He went full cistern, man. Never go full cistern.
Wow, Faye’s four-army control was awe-inspiring. It was like a textbook military maneuver
yeah but she got smoked there because she had no springald and was fighting under a full keep lol
Byzantine vs Ottoman? Ah yes, the El Classico
Those cannons were invited just to break thru the Easter Roman's empire ( byzantines) walls
That was an impressive display on Faye’s part. Masterfully maneuvering her forces from multiple angles and using the full potential of the late game momentum of the Byzantines.
What's the full potential late game? I'm new (first aoe too) and in love with byzantine

One of my favourite match 1v1 lately. Bring more of her. Pleaseeee🎉

It's crazy to me how rare this type of positioning and maneuvering is. Even just a simple horseman flank to pressure siege is a huge deal.
It's the muslim civs which can't eat boar, easier to remember.
Actually the animal that Koran forbids to eat is the domestic pig.
Radius is the perfect word defining the building's circle of effect.
26:26 Drongo doing poetry! I never knew I needed this until now!
faye's micro and tactics are insane! I used to think she was pretty meh but now I'm super impressed. Good on her!
One of my favorite match! Wow faye-chan deserves to be in top 5
Absolute master play from Faye. Seeing her hammer and anvil the opposing army feels like I’m watching a page from the art of war.

Amazing game and what a series of flanks from Faye! Keep 'em coming Drongo, love your content ♥
Ayo 21:40 how did drongo suddenly get so poetic with his commentary
IKR loved it!!
Drongo the poet, but he didn't even know it. I think becoming a dad has expanded Drongo's skill set.

"I sent the picture to the developers and said explain." For extra effect, I'd throw in the Dr. Who Dalek meme where the Dalek says explain.
Great job Faye! I will now try 3 Cisterns in Dark Age lol Awesome idea.
A beautiful Byzantine base, great flanks, and landsnakes putting in work? Perfect game.
Since the farms are discounted wood, and you get 8 stone, effectively they cost 52 resources. I think early farms are much more viable for byz
This has to be one of the most fun game i've watched on the channel. :)
that cliff in front of Faey base was a nice spawn
Bestantines
She's played against someone well below her elo. 😂😂😂
But this circle jerk session doesn't care about facts.
I've been doing 3 cisterns build since the dlc was released KEKW. Didn't seem competitive so I only did this when I was testing stuff with AI
Poetic Drongo ? Hell yeah, 2x the fun, 2x the excitement.
Drongo couldn't stop rhyming today
Is that the same Innovation from Sc2?
Guys will literally see the Ottomans getting out-cannoned and say "hell yeah!"
Has drongos casts always had the rhythm of a child's poem?
30:15 good use of the cistern for dmg reduction i assume
Faye is the most beautiful byzantine's city plan player

Drongo spitting trocheedactylic verse
faye been cooking lately
So hyped to be back playing aoe4. The release 2 years ago was shite but with all the general fixes and news civs i have high hopes.
Wait, this isn’t Innovation the Korean Sc2 Terran right? Is it?
My question exactly. Would love to know who this innovation is.
Holy damn AoE 4 exists still. The algorithm thinking I need a refresher lol.
8:13 how the byzantim player can see the enemy unit? He is on the stealth forest
Is that the innovation ?
The korean sc 2 pro ?
the name does ring a bell, Innovation the "Terran pro player"
byzantines tier s plus...behold the absolute powerhouse
Behold the seal clubbing of an easier opponent
A new Napoleon has risen
I saw themistaa doing this
She’s on all fours on the top rope 😂😂😂😂
I did not think she had it
Is this the same Innovation from SC2?
I also wanna know
Beezantines, anyone?
Doesn’t - 1 cisterns + wheelbarrow kind of do the same thing as more cisterns that early - that’s 50 wood/150 gold

Does flanks !!!!

was this a no great bombard challenge? why was it so late?
Is that SC2's Innovation?
Really nice game
Radius IS the correct term
Is the baby maker a poet too?
ottoman great bombard on the losing side??? But reddit told me ottoman is invincible.
Is this SC2 Innovation?
its pronounced LIM-eh-tah-nee-eye
I don't think the boar thing is about balance Drongo, its literally the Muslim cultures not eating pork and likely just an immersion/flavor thing.
Maaan the Byzantines are broken
白门楼修到aoe4来了哈哈哈哈哈
Good tired of the ottoman siege spam
I don’t understand this game on Xbox I rush I die I wait I died what do I do throw the game away? 😢
all muslim civs cant take boar
