The reason why dji phantom 4 is more expensive is because the drone they are showing (premium version) can only go 1.2 miles away while the standard retain can only go 0.62 miles and dji phantom 4 can go 3.2 miles away meaning the dji can go a lot more distance also the dji phantom has object recantation wile this dose't (thank you for reading)

This is more of a professional model and I'm looking for something in the 50 to 100 dollar range but the video was great, keep up the good work guys.
Outstanding walkthrough. Great timing, too!! I was shopping for different 'Drones', but this one was available on Amazon Prime Day and I just picked it up based on the strength of this video.
Great video! I'm not really into drones as a hobby. But I do find them interesting. I especially liked the way they can autonomously follow you around where ever you go. It seems like there would be so many applications for that.
Review or commercial? I think commercial. By now it's well known the Xstar is a cheap replica of the Phantom series by DJI.... Very cheap at that. One question though we're there no t-shirts available that actually fit you? I feel bad for the cotton blend:(
I'm almost certain Autel recommends not charging battery and remote at the same time. The bi cable was developed for simplicity.
Just thought I'd let everyone know this drone was discounted as apart of Amazon Prime day in top tech start ups I believe for $660.
Jerry, shipping regulations usually forbid shipping devices with lithium/other batteries installed.
i know this video is about a year old so as a little update on the camera/gimbal. they now have a thermal cam and another 4k with a bigger sensor and i think a mechanical shutter
That thing has terrible live video transmission for being so close. I guess the DJI patented lightbridge is worth the money!
pushing around a quadcopter in GPS and altitude hold is not really flying it, and not really fun either all you really need is a GYRO

I just ordered one today in Orange.
Drone is looking nice but it had a little bit to much image stuttering for me in the live view and the audio in the video wasn't to nice..
It appears that Autel robotics took a DJI Phantom 3, spray pained it orange, made it a little worse, and then slapped their own logo on it and claimed it to be original. There are more ways to design an aerial photography quadcopter today and not make it look like a DJI Phantom. This is a clone product and should be treated that way. It is quite obvious that even the ground station takes many interfaces DJI has created in their apps. and just slapped them together. Even the pattern of the LED lights mimic those of DJI (who is the only manufacturer I know to put red in front and green in back). I'm sorry, as I have said, this is not a great innovation aerial photography platform but a clone of DJI.
Meanwhile I will be flying my Inspire :).
Sounds like we need to tear one apart! Under the hood it's very different. Also remember that many drones share similar parts (ESC's, motors, etc). It all comes down to the flight controller. :-)

No green screen used at all in this video, but we did use a very professional high end cinema camera instead of my Sony handycam :D
It was the lighting, too. Subjects were properly lit and well away from the background, giving that look.

i think the follow feature could be better, if the camera could pivot downward and around, this would work much better, with landing gear that could lift to get out of the way of the camera, that would be phenomenal
I agree, future firmware update perhaps? I also like how you can control the camera while in autonomous flight operation so you can control the camera while the drone is flying itself.
have you seen any drones with liftable landing gear? more aero dynamic and nimble, that would be pretty inovative

It COULD have been great! I just dug this out of my closet after well over a year..maybe take a little test flight and see how this handles after a long time. (Last time in 2020 I had a horrible drifing issue, also battery - which was actually new at the time- went from 49-50% to 2% in 1 second! Autel dropped support for this in early 2018, batteries non-existent now...and if you find one it's a private seller and taking $100-150+. Look I get "end of life" support for older models, but hell not 7 months after I bought this and a slew of gimbal tilts, junk FW. Better support from Autel would have been nice, not totally dropping it completely as they worked on the small EVO.

I normally don't really care about drone stuff, but the presentation here was broadcast quality... from the presenter, the co-host, b-roll, demos, graphics, sound, music... very Top Gear like and very good.
I'd LOVE to see more of your videos done in a style that is a Volair/Barnacules hybrid. THUMBS WAY UP!
Chew on this: work with these guys to create some updated assets (intro/outro, lower thirds, "ladies", "Bat Knife", etc.) with your style and their editing level.

All I know is I could give that baby a good home. I'm in need of an upgrade. My Syma X8 is alright for a beginner and every minute of flight is a joy... All 9 of them. This is way I didn't want to get in to droning. Id be obsessive with it. My brother got me a Syma X5WS and I was hooked. Took me forever to save up and get the X8HC and Ive modded that bird as much as I could. I'm so wanting to move out of the toy grade in to the hobby grade. I want this bird so bad I can almost feel it in my hands. I really like what I'm seeing in it more than the DJi. It just looks better all the way around. Cost being one issue, but, how it looks like its built, solid. Oddly, I even like that Burnt Orange color. Really looks nice. 25 days and counting.
Thinking outside the box:
You've got navigation down well enough to be thinking about dual drone "rendezvous". One to "stay on target" indefinitely while another comes and goes and delivers replacement batteries to keep things energized. (in flight refueling) With this kind of configuration, long events could be videoed cheaply. You might even find a way to guide larger things like opaque balloons around in just the right way that the user could spend all day outside and stay forever in the shade of their own personal shade balloon. No more sunburns for us pasty white guys. We might actually want to go outside!

Crazy. I was just down at Autel and got to fly the X Star Premium. The flight controls remind me a lot of the DJI Phantom 2 yet Autel's remote, with grips, feels wonderful in the hands. The app is so user friendly as well with creating way-points and circular flight patterns and not to mention those smart batteries. When I'm in the market for a new drone, I'll be definitely looking at buying an Autel.
Is it part of Autel's review rider that you can't mention the similarity of the design to the P3? Because the huge orange elephant in the room is how much of a clone of DJI's design the X-Star is, and no-one seems to mention it. If I bought one of these I'd be worried DJI would sue them, and then they would no longer be allowed to be sold in the US, which would make parts availability a problem.
3 Quesions: 1. Can you film with the drone in hand (without it flying)?
2. What is the bitrate of the 4k files?
3. You mentioned kayaking. Can you power off the drone in flight, a.k.a. after you get your hand safely on it while in your boat, because I'm assuming you don't want it to land on your tiny boat?
Autel drone suck my mjx bugs 2 is a hundred percent better than that drone Plus I only paid 112 bucks for it from gearbest it has GPS 1 km range brushless motors independent ESC to a 2.4 gigahertz one key return and a big Advantage it is if I lose my drone for some apparent reason which I doubt I will I'm only out a hundred twelve bucks not five or six hundred dollars or even more

totalt off topic, but you are a lucky man, you can get all the nerd boxed and other mystery stuff for cheap :D if you want the same boxes where i live its gonna cost 30 bucks, and then theres costums fees onlike 60-80 bucks with a 90% chance that they charge you... and that sucks :D the only danish version dont have any of the good stuff -.- its only like codes for indie games and boring stuff like that :D but love youre vids man! keep it up :D

I'm having leanings towards the DJI Mavic for the same price. I like the form factor better, since I will need to be able to pack it on my motorcycle. But I'm open to suggestions as to which one is better. Flight time and distance are crucial.

First off, your grammar is wrong. You misspelled "TO". It is "TOO". Meaning A Lot of, or Also. Such a simple mistake for Nerds, whom are usually known to be smart and well versed.
This intro looked cool AF tho. I personnaly don't really like your intro Jerry, I prefered the older ones, I think this one doesn't look so professional. I know for a fact that your channel is not aimed to be like Hardwake Kanucks for instance with sick pre rolls and shit but idk... I just prefered the older one.
I might consider this but it is way to much like a Dji phantom and the idea of having it fallow the controller I mean fallow the controller the controller is big. I would rather buy a phantom than this. They do have some of their own features that wasn't stolen from Dji.
This is some cool stuff.
What about putting the controller in one of the rally cars and letting the drone follow it around?
Also, do I see some future 3D printing vids in the form of rotor blades, and possibly a re-designed gimbal lock? Could be interesting.
