The floss trick worked like a charm in no time. This was after 20 minutes of trying unsuccesfully to remove the straps with a newly ordered spring bar tool. Great work! Thank you 😊
This is such a great video. I just wanted to switch out bands & had no extra pins. If I didn't cut myself, break a nail or scratch my watch I'd end up losing the pins! This is simple & easy & saved me from having to buy a package of pins just to use 2. I used waxed dental floss & the pin stuck to it until I needed to attach it to the band. No more lost pins! Thanks so much!
Wow, that was a demonstration I put to use half-way through the video. I had a band that was so tight, I couldn't get a tool in between the leather. That's what made me look for some youtube advice. This works fantastic. I'll never bother even attempting any other way forever. No scratches and simple as hell! Thank you so much!
Thank you for being the only video that fully explained the pin mechanism and how it worked for leather and silicone straps. Every other video I watched nobody would explain how it worked what to do even with the tools and their video angle was from the side so it’s not looking down at the watch so you have no idea what they’re doing so thank you for being a confident human being, and obviously you’re very knowledgeable that you could teach it and do it without even using tools. I can’t stress it enough thank you because I was literally struggling for the last hour.
💯👌 agreed! Simple and well “filmed” demonstration! Congrats! Have got question @NordicWatchChannel , are your 2 Stitch Straps only available in 20 mm ? Tudor BB Pelagos is 22 or GMT ! Do you have it available plus are they curved into “case” ? Leather or Sailcloth or kind of the original fabric “nato” for Tudor Pro a black with yellow stripe or Black with red/burgundy stripe Do you sent it to Portugal-Algarve ? No discounts …. Colareb leather straps are top ! And less expensive plus discount… available and free shipping! Kind regards, José
Thanks for the kind feedback! I think this is a misunderstanding, as I don't sell straps myself. There' a brand in Finland I have referenced sometimes, Noric Watch Straps (I know, the name is very similar and could as well be my brand haha) but I don't sell straps. Colareb are awesome!
This video was fantastic, thank you very much. Explaining to my son, that many times after crudely getting a knife onto the pin, just as I was releasing it, it would shoot off and ping around the room like a Wyle.E.Coyote cartoon and then the long arduous time trying retrace where I thought I saw it disappear, with sometimes a win and quite a few times a loss. Today you showed me something so simple and brilliant that I had to commend you on this very clever idea, that I stumbled across. While looking to buy a watch tool repair kit, I got one watch all fixed without a wait in the mail for a tool kit. Absolutely Brilliant. Thanks again. Frank
Thanks for the kind words Frank! Comments like this really make my day and also make this youtube channel worth all the hours :) Love hearing stories about some videos being useful for people, so thank you! -Anders
Nordic man, lovely descriptive English, thank you, I turned to your video when I was struggling to get the spring bar off, the floss worked wonderfully,
I had a spring bar tool and had damaged my Seiko straps with it and still had issues getting it off. This helped me get it off quickly and without any further damage to watch and strap. fully recommend 👍
I appreciate your sharing so much. just bought tools, trying to remove the straps safely, but my skill seems far from do it safely. just searched and found this super helpful how to. i already changed the straps safely thanks to your sharing knowledge. you make it really clear to understand how to. Thank you doesn't enough. Hope you have great days!
Very nice! I once brought a watch to a watch repair dude to have a strap removed - ended up having a damaged case and a damaged strap. This video shows how to avoid it. -E.K.
@@eeeeesha I actually did. That was a 1970s Vacheron Patrimony and I got it polished and was given a new strap. The watch is fine. I lived in New York back then and the dude was my drinking buddy, so neither of us was exactly sober back then. -E.K.
1st, we have the same watch! Same model! 2nd, Omg thank u so much for teaching the second method without tools! Even with tools mine was so tight tools was useless. The rope method, the first 2 times it failed, (one time the rope broke😂) the 3rd time it works! Thank u so much!
Wonderful idea! While dental floss failed, I used 10lb fishing monofilament line, which is much more durable. The spring bar popped out with a slight pull. Tip: Use garden gloves to protect your hands and for steadiness. A white dish towel under your work area helps.
I'll admit I was sceptical at first, but it actually works! Every time! Thanks for the tip, I've subscribed - not only because of this video, but for all the useful content.
That would be 100$ sir. Btw the video was the one i was looking for it really helped me so much I was searching for a good video i found this and now i finally changed my watch starp
I've always thought the tool was fair too sharp and too thick which made it prone to damaging the strap and scratching the watch. This video is a great alternative, thanks!
What an incredible guide! Worked perfect on my Tissot PR50 Sport where the leather strap is impossibly tight to the lug. No way that's coming off with a tool without damage. The string worked flawless.
A very helpful video and the floss method works very well. Just be sure to take enough to wrap around all 4 fingers as this otherwise can slip when trying to wrap around a finger. After removing the strap using this method I actually find changing straps a whole lot easier now.
The dental floss trick is EFFING GENIUS. I wish I had come to your channel before damaging the band to a very high-end watch I have. And I have a watch repair kit!!!! Those dumb metal tools should be outlawed. Thank you!!!!
I easily removed the bar with my nail but was struggling a looong time to put it back. Watched this and put it back before the video even ended. Thank you.
Wow, that was really easy! Tried it on my Seiko. Got a new Citizen Promaster watch coming and was thinking of having a rubber strap for it that I can swap out when I want to. Thanks!
Your dental floss technique worked like a charm! Easy and clear. Thanks! Unfortunately, I had to reinstall the spring bars before installing another kind of strap, and in the process broke off the end of one of them, so I guess I'm going to a jewelry store for help.
I couldn't get the floss thing to work, but from watching this, I realised I had a tool similar to a spring bar tool and managed to get the old strap off Getting the new bracelet on was much more challenging! Took numerous attempts, and many times getting down on the floor to look for the spring bar that had sprung away! :)
I have a number of takeaways from your video. I had the tool you had. I don’t know where I got it, or what it could be used for. I was not to adept at first with the tool, so I tried the dental floss. I could not get it to come out. When I placed the watch upside down, I saw the a small knob at one end of the bar in a small slot in the bang. I used the tool to move the knob, and everything came off immediately. I regularly replaced my band with a dark brown style. I never threw out the previous one, so I combined the existing side with the perforations with the old one with the buckle and the two loops still decent! You really have to stare at the watch to figure out they are not a matched pair. Thanks for a very nice confidence building video to take this task on.
Also, since I've seen you answer comments, if the lenght of my springbar is 24, can I buy a 22 strap and use the old bars? My old strap broke and I want to buy a new one. Thanks, much love ♥
Thank you! Glad to hear that. Hmm using a 22mm strap with 24mm springbars? Sure that can be done, but you will end up with 2mm of gap between the strap edge and the inside edge of the lug🤔
But you should measure the width of the gap between the lugs, not the springbar itself. The sizes are given according to the gap they are supposed to fit. Since they are compressed when put on the watch, a 22mm lugwidth springbar is wider than 22mm..
Nice trick! However, being female and working without gloves, I find that my fingernails work well enough - better than the cheap tool that comes with Chinese spring bars.
The floss broke on me when I tried on my old watch band but when I made a mistake on the new watchband and had to remove and redo it it worked like a charm..thank you
This saved me a trip to my local jeweller and saved me some money! Thanks mate!👍🏻
