This was super helpful for a total beginner, thank you!
Tip: Don’t ever angle that spring tool. The head of the spring tool should be pointing directly toward the flat surface you are work on. Otherwise you are risking of scratching the inside of your lug in case you slip. That happened to me😢
Very well done.
From my experience, using masking tape on the back of the watch lugs can save you from scratching the back of the watch.
Also, I have used the pointed end to compress the spring bR when installing, I find it easier but there is more of a chance for scratches.
If only it was always this easy... Especially when it comes changing in/out bracelets.
There's a special tool for those, I highly recommend them.
@@StuntpilootStef What's that then? You don't mean the tool to remove links do you?
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR I don't know the name for sure , but I think they're called springbar pliers. There's a tool where you can pinch both ends at the same time, like a pair of tweezers with sprinbar tools at each end. Works great.
@@StuntpilootStef I just googled now... Apparently they're just called spring bar tweezers. Thanks for making me awake of these. I definitely need to get some. It'll make it a lot easy.
As a side note, just to let know, I'm doing a watch giveaway on my channel if you want to check it out.
That is another system, bracelets and straps are differerent ! And buy yourself such a kit on AliExpres, 10€, what I did myself already with that, costed me 100€ at a jewellery, and I find this relaxing, satisfying work.
Excellent. Very clear and concise. Helped me a lot.
Thank you, I finally know what that forked little tool is for that came with my battery replacement kit. I also would've never known to look for the quick-release slides on the new strap. Those slides and your video made this a 2min job - thanks again :)
Needed help removing a strap, your video was short, concise, and informative. Thank you!!
Thanks for the info! Curious: what is the very first watch you show in the video? Thank you!
Very helpful, thanks. My band came with extra spring bars and the compression tool - great.
Thank you soooo much! Needed to replace my watch band and after trying with my frustration I looked it up on YT. You have a new subscriber!
Cheers mate, very helping video. Beginner and managed to get it changed in 10mins.
Excellent. Thank you. For those without a fork tip tool, I carefully used a serrated knife. The groove was perfect to press the spring ‘thingy’.
Honestly you can make due with any type of knife.
Thank you - I just purchased a vintage watch - it had drilled lugs but the spring bar doesn’t seem to budge - in addition- the spring bar doesn’t seem to have that ridge… I’m pretty experienced with strap change outs, but I’m stumped. I guess when the leather strap gets old I may have to cut those derned spring bars and hope that they haven’t become somewhat glued over the years at the lugs - ughs😂
Excellent practical video. Thank You, Ben!
Great info! I have a question: I'm having real trouble finding wrist bands of the correct size for my watch, which is inconveniently at 19mm. Could 18mm bands work for my watch, or would the 1mm difference fuck things up? (I don't suppose sizing up would be wise.) Asking before making a potentially stupid purchase.
thank you very much.. my watch has been sitting on the desk with one strap off because i didnt know how to put it back on until i realized (thanks to your vid) that this bar's ends are spring loaded
lol
Awesome! What a great help this video was to me.
Outstanding presentation! Thank you!
This was really helpful and comprehensive to give confidence, thank you Ben.
May I ask, can spring bars from the old strap be reused and put into the new strap?
Yes but I'd test them first. Press both ends and if they don't spring back, your going to need replacement ones. But if they do you're good to go
Great video. Nicely done!
Thanks so much! I was able to do what i needed to do!
Thank you with this I save $10 just changed within watching few second
Very good, clear, helpful video 👍
Thanks for the video, I changed my strap quickly with the tool
I have a watch with curved pins. What's the best option to change as most straps come with a straight bar.
Worked a treat, thanks so much.
beautiful clear video - thank you my friend!
Great video. Gonna buy a tool now and change my strap. Thanks
Question! If u have trouble doing it yourself can u take it to a Jewerly store?
I know new watch bands come with new spring bars but can the olde ones be reused?
Thank you for this video. It's really helpful.
Thank you for posting this helpful video
Thanks man, this really helped
Brilliant - clear and very helpful - thanks
Thank you so much!!! You were totally helpful.
this video helped alot straight to the point, new sub keep up the work👍
Thanks man, didn’t know it was quite easy to do!
Great video precise and to the point ! No BS just the facts well presented 👍🏻
Very nice. Although I prefer to have the short part of the strap on the bottom. And I think seiko ships their watches like that
Excellent instruction. I used a thin, serrated knife today; will buy a spring bar tool for next time. Many thanks!
This will save me lots of trip the timepiece shop ❤️ thank you!
Thanks bruh .... It helps me a lot
Good work! Thank you.
Please review the EONIQ Custom Watch series. They offer Miyota automatic movements, customizable watch rotors, Cotes De Geneve, sapphire crystal, open heart watches, skeleton watches, super luminova, small second watches with customized colors, and way more! (They also have quartz if you're not that into mechanical, but why wouldn't you be?)
Very helpful, thanks!
Thank you!
Previous attempts to change watch bands involved an Xacto knife. This time I bought a watch repair kit from a local hardware store for $8. Changed bands in five minutes! Other tools in the kit should make battery changing easier too! Video was very instructive and helpful.
Bought a nice vintage watch but unfortunately it came with a fraying band :( so bad in fact that it flakes off into tiny bits and gets everywhere ): so hopefully this video can help get my watch back on track :)
Very well explained.
Thanks - this video was exactly what I needed. Now im off to buy a spring bar tool🤣
I have a Casio Edifice EFS-S600DY with a metal strap and I just can't see how you get the pin out... It doesn't seem to push in 😞
this was super helpful!
Thanks so much !! Almost bought tools but didn't need to ! Much love 💚
Very good instructions. Thank you.
Could you size down a 22mm into a 20mm?
Thank you for this video. I would have destroyed my brand new leather band watch had it not been for this. I had no idea it was so easy
Just to clarify, if you have a tiny screwdriver, then compressing the spring bar is easy. Having a spring bar tool isn't a necessity, but if you have one, it is a lifesaver.
Thank you
Does anyone know the watch brand on the thumbnail photo? Looks nice and I wanna purchase it
it's casio but the closet version come into my mind is casio ltp-vt01d-2budf
Thanks very much for this. 😀
Thank you. Great information 👍
Well explained, Thank you
What model is in the video?
Thank you Ben
Thanks, Helped a lot
very clear thanks
Thanks for the help
I was at 1:10 My 5 year old stock leather strap was so decrepit I just peeled it off the spring bar when I lifted from the stitching! Had my tool and soft surface all ready, didn't need it :,D
Very clear video! Thank you!
Cheers, pal.
Thanks Ben
I found that my watch straps fit better with the buckle at the 6 side the other way pushes my watch to the outer side of my wrist?
Was going to comment this. I also find it easier to put on the “wrong” way
🤗 Thank You!
Big thanks !
Great video. I will be using this.
Thanks, liked and subbed.
What kind of watch is the first watch
What's that Casio in the thumbnail please?
Very clear video.
Brilliant!
Excellent
Thank you so much
Thank you ❤️
Thanks!
Great video
What's the watch in the thumbnail?
Hey Ben, what is the make and model of the first watch in the video. Looked very nice
Ben Jones Sternglas Naos Automatik look at Ben’s older videos for the review.
Some watch strap already indicated how many mm is the size. You can refer to the back of the strap. No need to measure anymore ☺️
Are you from Stoke?
Helpful ☺️
Thanks
What is that Casio in the thumbnail
Very useful thanks. I have the exact same calipers and only just realised how to use them for inside measurements.
Where do you get your straps from?
Found hard to find straps on eBay. Exactly like the vintage watch’s original.
Errr... my leather strap has no lever on the inside, no hole for a tool either...
It has slotted screws on the sides...
Just a matter of removing both screws i suppose?
Edit: Nevermind, I've already found it, it's called a screw bar.
thanks!
Hey Ben, just wondering if you be able to do a top 10 list or from affordable to luxury watches for women or girlfreinds/wife's just and idea.
thanks
