First is went to a watch store and asked how much it would be. I'm in D.C., he replied, $24.99. I thanked him, walked away, and watched this video. Perfect instructions!! I did mine with ease. Thank you!
Thank you. My dad passed away and left me his watch Ive always wanted. Im 140 pounds soaking wet and he was a chubby little bastard lol. So the watch was 4 links too big for me. I've been meaning to take it to a jeweler to be sized and you saved me the hassle. Love and respect. Thank you.
Duuude! I did this to my girlfriends TWO watches. One of which she was told could not be sized perfectly for her BY A WATCH TECHNICIAN. In 30 minutes I sized both of her watches perfectly using this GENIUS technique. You sir are a LEG-END!
Thank you so much for saving me over $40 at Jared's! As soon as the gentleman said $37.99 + tax, I thanked him and exited the jewelry store. Yours was the first video I saw on YT that said "No Tools", and this was absolutely perfect! Thank you for your precise instructions including what not to do.
My new watch links came in today and your video helped me to shorten in. Never ever let it cross your mind that instructional videos like this are useless. There are legions of people like me who enjoy lifetips such as this. Thank you.
I watched this and removed the links in less than 3 mins. I saved $25! This video is informative and precise. I used a spanner instead of the hammer. Thank you so much!
Your video definitely helped me remove two links from my watch band. You made it so simple, that I finished probably quicker than the length of your video. Thank you so much!!! 😊
After trying several things- from a metal skewer from the kitchen, to safety pins of varying sizes, your video here of the thumbtack worked perfectly! A screwdriver handle is the perfect "hammer" for this as well. Thanks for saving me a trip to the jeweler up town and having to pay for a 30 second procedure!
Came back to this video because someone asked me about some of my watches. I used this video to remove links because my jeweler forgot to apparently. (Not a flex) but I used this method on a Rolex that I spent well over 18k for, so I was incredibly skeptical. You sir saved me the hassle of being overcharged to remove links. My jeweler was asking for 250 to remove literally 2 links on each side and this only took me 5 minutes to do. Thank you my friend!
AMAZING. I did it so easily and without fear. Most watch stores take longer and seem to hit or damage the watch while taking the pin out. This was simple. The best and only video to watch.
Thank you! It only took me an hour to fix my watch! Make it simple and easy and straight to the point. You, my good sir, definitely deserve more subscribers.
I followed these instructions to remove a link from my stainless steel Hadley Roma band, and it worked without any trouble. The only difference was that I used a small tack hammer instead of the screwdriver. Thanks for saving me a trip to a jeweler and probably a few bucks.
So glad i came across this video!!! Yes, tapping on carpet/cloth underneath is key, and also putting the pins back was a lot easier using pliers to squeeze it back in instead of pushing with the screwdriver/tapping with a hammer. Thanks for the video!!
Wonderful idea using items easily found around the house. I was so upset that the jeweler’s I took my watches to get resized did not take out the proper amount of links and made me come back twice because jeweler went to lunch. Wasted an extra hour of my time. They said I could bring my watches back to be resized again for a nominal fee. Forget that! So happy I found your video. Managed to resize for better fit with the instructions on the micro sizing in clasp closure. Thank you so much!🙏
Great, worked for me on a Storm watch and saved a visit to the jewellers (and cost). Getting the pin size is the key but these are standard cork board tacks you can get from any stationers (in my case I already had such a board up in the kitchen). The tip about supporting the trap with you fingers is a good one. I found that two of the pins came out easily enough, the third was a little tight and needed more force. Also I placed my watch strap over a hole drilled into 10 business cards taped together. This gave the pin somewhere to go with a relatively soft surface for the strap to sit on.
Unbend a small paperclip and grip it with pliers. Use the tip of the paperclip to simply push the pins out of their links. This works much better for removing the pins. You can also use the paperclip to recess the pins when reinserting. Cheers
thanks! since all I have is paperclip, I tried using just paperclip to remove the pin, works wonder, just take a bit longer perhaps. worth mentioning that eventhough I accidentally hit my bracelet a couple times pretty hard with the paper clip tip when inserting the pin back, it doesnt scratch my bracelet with ion coat.
Worked like a charm. I love videos like this that teach you how to do something new, thank you. I am not sure if it was mentioned but when inserting the pin back in make sure to go in the opposite direction of the arrow. Great video!
My Mother left me her gold Balmain watch. I wanted to remove one link for a better fit. The jeweler said it would be ready in two weeks. Your video and a few minutes solved this for me. I did use a pair of "angle tip" or "slanted" tweezers to recess the pin in place of a screwdriver. Thank you for sharing your video and helping me.
Great video! 🎉 Thanks so much! I came up with couple of tips that made it work better for me. I cut the tip of the push pin off with a small wire cutter to give it a more solid, flat pushing surface. I pulled the link wire out with a pair of pliers. I enrolled my wife to do the pounding with the screw driver head while I held the push pin and band in place. It only had to come out a millimeter or two before I was able to pull it out with the pliers.
The watch manufacturers instructions said to use a hairclip pin. Good luck finding one of those. Your video using the push pin and the handle of the screwdriver was awesome. Now my new watch fits like it should. Thank you
Thanks a bunch dude. You saved me 10 dollars and a drive to jewellers. Like your calm voice and simple methods. Your watch looks like my sieko. Cheers.
Thank you so much for this video. Saved me a trip back to the store where I bought my watch cuz the girl who did the sizing for free with the purchase of the watch was too lazy and didn't size my bracelet properly the first time. I needed to remove one more link and make one micro adjustment on the latch and now it fits perfectly. Saved me $20 and a trip to the mall. Thank you thank you thank you.
This was so helpful and awesome. Never thought of thumbtacks and it worked perfectly for me. I had a watch that was difficult for the first time but the thumb tack did the trick. Thank you so much for posting this sir! Blessings.
Thank you so much! I have been putting off adjusting my watch band thinking I wouldn't be able to do it. The instructions were perfect, easy to follow and I did it!
Thank you for helping us "Self-Reliants" out here!! I cannot be bothered to go into a shop and pay when I can surely do it myself. Now I truly can, thank you!!
I'm very thankful for this. I only watched halfway but successfully removed three links, and my new watch fits perfectly. I held the band between two slightly elevated surfaces with space below to allow the pin to poke out as I tapped, and once it was begun, it came easily. Thank you 😊
Great video. Just to share my experience. A completely different design that I have not seen on Google or youtube. Tried to remove pin and wouldn't budge. Finally when I thought I had wrecked it, out popped a tiny spring running the width of the band with little heads at both ends, this is INSIDE a nearly full length ferrule. Now I understand, it's the easiest I've ever struck to remove links. Just push the the spring head in a fraction and the link becomes free at that end. Job done.
Don't know if you will see this....but thank you so much for this video. I was able to go right along with you and shorten my watch band. So thank you again.
I never leave comments, but this was super helpful! I resized a new watch I bought online and saved myself a trip to the jewelers. A couple tips I would add would be looking to see if the inside of the links have arrows - this will help you know which way the pins are meant to go out as the pins have a thicker end on one side.
It works perfectly. I just fixed one of 2 watches I got from Walmart that I bought until I can afford a nicer watch. The first one’s clasp fell loose (2 flat strips of metal with a notch and a tiny pin) and I can’t figure out how to fix it. I started with the other watch and got it in 2 minutes. Make sure you guys take a link off each end so it’s not uneven. Brilliantly done and thanks again! 🤘🏻❤️🔥
What’s funny is that I searched this for the first time to adjust a watch of mine on my own (I’ve had multiple adjustments made to 9-10 other watches and paid 15$ every time) and the watch you’re using in the video is the same one I recently bought but mine is all silver. I wanted a “Day Date” model and I love this one.
I was skeptical at first. But wanted a quick way to change out my band on my new watch as the watch store is closed today and excited to use my new watch. It worked! I thought a rubber mallet would be better to use then the end of a screwdriver to bang out the pin, but the screwdriver is better as the mallet head is too large for a pinhead. Also the quarter trick worked to put back the remaining part of the pin to flush with the band. Hey Thanks!!
This worked perfectly for me! I can't believe I was able to do it myself and it was very easy the way you show it! Thank you so much. I'm so happy right now because I didn't have the money to fix my clock.
Thanks man! Using the Thumb Tack was literally a game changer. If you're watching this, don't use a clip. It's just gonna be harder. Use a Thumb Tack instead. And focus on hitting with a hammer in the middle!
I can't believe this actually worked! It wasn't super smooth, but it got the job done without scratching up my watch. The only hard part was keeping the tack and watch stable while hammering away.
For people struggling, make sure there is room on the other side for the pin to start coming out. If its flush against the table it's going nowhere. I made a notch in a piece of wood to help
Thank you so much for this video. I had to use needle nose pliers to pull out the pin. It helped SO MUCH to let us know that the band had arrows on the inside of the band. I’ve never known that. I was working with a black band which made it difficult to see the tiny arrows. I used the file tip of a large set of nail clippers to push the pin all the way in.
great video - very thorough on the links as well as the micro adjustment including how NOT to do it. All I needed was the micro adjustment - helped A LOT thanks sir!
Thank you kindly for this hack with the pushpin (thumbtack) I had a kit I got off Amazon, and the gadget for removing the pins bent on the first try. Worked perfectly ,didn’t need to tap ,just used a little force ,awesome ,thanks for the video ,if it didn’t work for you then it’s definitely a user error
perfect video, a little long on the intro. But for the most part, it was quick and to the point. Thanks for making this video. Your instructions worked perfectly and now my watch fits like a glove
Instead of going and getting an estimate from a watch store five minutes away from here, I stayed home and took half an hour to learn and do it myself. Thanks Poolarity! This was perfect, I even did it without a screwdriver!
I did this and it worker perfectly. Make sure you position the push pin perfectly. I used a pair of soft pants underneath and tapped it so the pin could move when it's hit. Also my arrow was both directions on my watch. I also used a picket knife to strike the push pin. I also used the fabric of the pants to prevent starches when I was tapping the pin back in.
Great it worked, I did my own. Be careful not to scratch watch band. Also the pushpin is slightly larger than hole so it goes stuck sometimes, so don't panic.
thank you so much! unfortunately my pushpin bent at the tip, so i went thru a few of them. but in the end it was a success! my watch looks exactly like yours!😍
Thanks for the video, I do remember doing this before, but I forgot how much force it took to remove the pins. I was able to save my husband 24 dollars or more, plus a 2 1/2 Hour road trip to the nearest jewellers.
Thanks! They didn’t look like they were removable to my eyes. No arrows or anything. I removed closest to the clasp and stayed away from the face. It was easier to balance and some by the face look permanent. Thanks again
First is went to a watch store and asked how much it would be. I'm in D.C., he replied, $24.99. I thanked him, walked away, and watched this video. Perfect instructions!! I did mine with ease. Thank you!

thank you so much! unfortunately my pushpin bent at the tip, so i went thru a few of them. but in the end it was a success! my watch looks exactly like yours!😍
Hey....I'm shocked!! Just did this with an INVICTA
......It WORKED! had to straighten the T-Tack though......but.....it worked. .....saved some $$$
Thanks for the video, I do remember doing this before, but I forgot how much force it took to remove the pins. I was able to save my husband 24 dollars or more, plus a 2 1/2 Hour road trip to the nearest jewellers.
Thanks, it worked great on my TAG. And saved me a trip into town and £30.
Much appreciated.
Thanks bro, you save 20 bucks.
Thanks! They didn’t look like they were removable to my eyes. No arrows or anything. I removed closest to the clasp and stayed away from the face. It was easier to balance and some by the face look permanent. Thanks again
Dude thanks so much you've saved me a trip to the watch shop!
