Making these today - 4/17/2023 - I just wanna say a big THANK YOU for your Ninja Woodie recipes!! I have a three-ring-binder made with all your Ninja WoodFire Grill recipes... You've helped this old gal learn about smoking BBQ proteins and I am soooo grateful for all these goodies!! Thanks, CJ!!!
CJ ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS remember to show the settings, smoker, grill etc ... with the hi/low temp and general time.... I can't thank you enough for being that specific.... I can't tell you how many youtubers that just blow that stuff off and tick everybody off... great stuff...
Totally making this tonight, but with a different rub I had got at TraderJoe's. Thank you again for the Woodfire video's. You've made this Christmas present so easy to use. You rock!
I just ordered a Ninja Woodfire XL at a heck of a Father's Day deal - really looking forward to this thing. This is a great channel and really gives some good recipes and ideas.
@@aus3492 Mine is coming this week. I also bought a ThermoPro meat temp thermometer - it was only $15 and I'm looking forward to trying it. I think my grill has the thermometer stuff as well but just wanted to have it. Can't wait to try this
@@paulanderson771 I just did my first cook, Chicken brests and a few burgers.. it absolutely nailed it, moist chicken and the burgers were great, I used jack Daniels BBQ sauce. It's very simple to use, once connected to the app there's charts that tell you exactly what to do and when to do it. I'm going to enjoy working with this machine, the Weber won't be as busy this year as previous years but from time to time cooking with fire trumps everything.
Picking up my Woodfire tomorrow on the back of your videos my man. Keep them coming mate you’re going to be my mentor as I’ve zero clue how to cook anything. Cheers from Yorkshire England
Made these today for my 1st Ninja cook. Only took about 11 mins total. Great flavor! One minor mistake I made is that they went from a temp of 140 to 180 extremely quickly and I over cooked them slightly. I'll check sooner next time.
I to needed to turn mine down to Med. But they came out juicy. Once they reached 160, i removed them from the grill and let them rest. No foil, no cover, nothing. Also used a simple seasoning; Tone's Fry Seasoning. I ended up adding at least 7 minutes. Also added some frozen sliced sweet potato. I don't know if that helped with moisture of the chicken, but it ended up juicy and amazing. Touch of smoke, and amazing season. Thank you, CJ!
CJ that looks absolutely delicious 😋. I'm having to eat healthier than I usually do, this new 2023 year it's gonna be a change and these chicken breast are 💯. I'm gonna enjoy this grill🥰🥰
I have that thermometer! Love it so much great video… Just wish one thing you would have shown and explained more of what it look like on your phone. I try to grill as good as my husband but it’s a little confusing on the phone for me for some reason! Great video though I’ll definitely be a new follower. Looks amazing. Makes me want chicken for breakfast… :-)
Can anyone tell me if this unit should work in Portugal? I got mine yesterday and plugged it in (with an outlet adapter). It came on for a minute, then went off and won't come back on. I've got power to the units test light, but nothing else.

@@CookingWithCJ Thanks for responding. For a moment I thought this is a pellet grill but in fact is an electric grill, the pellets seem to be just to infuse the smoke.
Completely agree with you about cooking to internal temperature, but that’s not so simple with items of irregular thickness, such as many chicken breasts. The thinner edges get overdone and dry by the time that plumb center section reaches temp. Meathead Goldwyn’s bbq book recommends pounding down that center with a heavy skillet just enough to get the thickness more uniform, which makes sense. Yours looked pretty even to begin with! Did you do anything to prep the shape? They grilled up beautifully and looked plenty juicy! And I just got my Lightning based on your recommendation and it everything an instant read ought to be! The only problem is that my husband is fascinated with checking the temperatures in various rooms of the house so it might not be on the fridge where I stuck it lol! Thanks for all the work you put into these immensely helpful videos!
Thank you! No I didn’t do anything to change the shape. I get pounding them out evenly. But most people just want to throw them on the grill and get’em done. If you stick to the 160f pull temp, you’ll pretty much be good to go all over.
Dang dude are you a mind reader? I got chicken breast thawing right now to grill later Update: your recipe kicked butt! Cooking to 160 with a thermometer made the chicken perfect! Ended up making some chicken tacos with it
I'm not sure how you made these work using the high setting. I made these last night and cook it on high as you stated and within five minutes the grill marks were extremely burnt so I turned it down to medium after that for the rest of the cook. I cooked them to an internal temperature of 160. And then let them rest in tinfoil for 10 minutes. At the end of 10 minutes on covered them and there was a whole ton of juice drained out of the chicken laying in the bottom. When I cut into the chicken to eat it it was dried out. All the juices for some reason just drained out of the chicken when I let it rest. The flavor was good but very dry. Others on a ninja Woodfire Facebook group has stated they never use the highest setting unless they are searing a steak. Chicken and pork end in dry tough meat if you use high. Not trying to knock you, love your videos, just giving insight on what happened for me.
I do not put my food on during the ignition cycle. A lot of complaints about a heavy smoke or almost chemical taste if food is placed on grill during that ignition cycle if smoke is selected.
Hey man your videos are great and I really enjoy watching all the different things you cook. I just got the Ninja Woodfire XL Pro and I was reading in the manual where it says you can cook with the lid open. I thought this was great so I ordered the griddle plate so I could make eggs and bacon etc... But when I left the lid opened it did not start counting down after 30 seconds like the manual says. So I contacted tech support and was told the manual has a mistake in it and you cannot cook with the lid open nor can I cook eggs in it. Can you please do a video of you cooking eggs in yours if you havent already. I am not sure why I was told you cant cook eggs but thats what tech support said. I said if there is heat, they will cook, just maybe really fast...lol Thanks

Anything to make you forget about the salad you're eating is 👍👍👍

These look excellent! Never heard of that glaze, but I love the black pepper. I bet these would make a phenomenal chicken salad after being chilled.
Thanks brother!
I'm using this recipe to make some chicken wraps, except I"m using a garlic herb mixture for the marinade. Thank you for your recipes, man!
Appreciate you watching them! Cheers
Cj purchased the thermopro lightning instant read thermometer - absolute game changer for us the internal tip - nice one !!!

From Amazon, I think I put a link in the video description for it.
Couldn’t find that marinade on your link with Amazon.

DELICIOUS!! CJ, i may have missed something, but why are two thermometers needed (see at 2:20), thx!!
Hey great vids! I want to do some smoked chicken breast. What's best to grill and smoke or just cook on smoke setting? Please let me know! Thanks
If you’re just doing smoked chicken, then just use the smoker setting.
What is the name of the meat thermometer you use. It looks cool
TempSpike. It’s a Bluetooth thermometer. There is a discount link for it in the video description.
@@CookingWithCJ thanks

Yes! Heck of a day eating!
Hot damn, that looks delicious 👍😊
Yes!! Thanks Bobbi!
Hi great video. Only issue I have is if I use half full pallets they don’t ignite😢
Thank you, ya I wish I could change that part in this video, you should always fill it up.
what's the difference between a woodfire grill and the ninja foodi regular grill
You use the Woodfire outdoors and it’s a small smoker
I have that thermometer! Love it so much great video… Just wish one thing you would have shown and explained more of what it look like on your phone. I try to grill as good as my husband but it’s a little confusing on the phone for me for some reason!

Thank you! I have a couple other videos that spend more time showing off the thermometer. Appreciate ya watching!
Hey CJ, can you do some eggs for making smoked deviled eggs? I can't find Anything for the Ninja and with eggs, you can't temp check
The dogs barking that's a compliment he wants to bite
Making them on my mom's Ninja I might take it home with me if I like it..😂😂
Lol!
Oh yum!!!😛
Thank you!
what was the marinade????
Can you grill without using the smoke ? Mahalo
Yes definitely you can.

Did you say how long it took in the grill?
No cause I use the internal temps as I go. But it was probably 10-12 min.

No, it’s an outdoor grill.

Better late than never , I would add get the dual temp sticks and use both . I did that with different sizes and worked great .
Great video! Would you be able create a video of smoking them bad boys?
I’ll add it to the list
Breast so underrated if you know how to Season/grill
It’s true.
Yummmm

That’s awesome! I did the same, tacos that day!
I tried your method. I filled the hopper halfway and they never ignited so either I have a defective unit or I don’t know what I’m doing.
It barely fired on mine, I always fill it like normal after I did this video.

I put these on the smoker setting at 350 for about 50 mins came out perfect
Chicken supposed to be cooked hot and fast low temp turn it tough and rubbery
I do not put my food on during the ignition cycle. A lot of complaints about a heavy smoke or almost chemical taste if food is placed on grill during that ignition cycle if smoke is selected.
Yeah it’s best to let it run through the ign cycle.
