    Got one for my birthday and it's great. Especially in places where you can't use charcoal grills. It's often not allowed in germany on balconys so this is a great chance to smoke, grill and so on.
    I also like it if you grilled and want to make chips on it as side dish. The flavors of the grilled meat will get to your chips or whatever you're making in it.

    Just a tip, let the pellets burn for about 15-20 minutes before adding the food in if you can because the initial smoke is quite acrid. There is a genuine reason they tell you to add the food a few minutes in, but it really benefits from leaving it a bit longer. You can top the pellets up as you go as long as the ones in the hopper are still smouldering. If you have to reignite it, you can get the acrid smoke again.
    Also, check on the smoke function of your model has cold smoke (just turn the temp right down and if it says cld, it does). If it does, you can smoke your own cheese and make smoked salmon (youtube videos for making it exist but don't have woodfire timings for the actual smoking part).

    I’m a bit of a cheap person and have always wanted a smoker . We recently moved long distance and had to downsize so I threw out my old propane bbq .
    I was looking at purchasing one of these instead of buying large smoker but instead of that there was a neighbor who put out an old propane bbq for “free” on their front yard.
    I picked it up flipped the flame diverter over , removed all the propane parts and use the flame diverter as a basket for limp charcoal. I put two foil pans in the bottom . One with charcoal and the other with water to do perfect offset smoked ribs , pulled pork and even a brisket.
    For you cheap people like me all you have to pay for is the charcoal and wood pellets for extra smoke

    One little tip i was reminded of, watching you file your burger lol, if you find, when biting into a burger, it's all going everywhere and sliding apart, try turning the burger the other way up, due to how our bottom jaw hinges, you can find that with the "slippery" ingrediants on the other side, it won't slide about as much when you bite into it.

    Some times the smoke is too much. It is better to let it ignite and burn off before adding food, gets bitter. You do not have to fill the hopper for short cooks, works better for long cooks, full grill.
    I suspect person whose table lit on fire that there were too many pellets left smoldering, if they left lid open that could be another error. That hopper gets scorching hot and embers keep burning until nothing left.
    I agree, that flipping cord is way too short and impractical. Cooking times in the ginga cookbooks are way off. Jalapeno poppers are awesome in it.

    Barry, just a note...Check your instructions for this. The instructions for our air fryer say do NOT use an extension lead because the power may short out! Might be what happened there? Enjoyed the vid!

    • @yetinother
      @yetinother Месяц назад +4

      Pretty much all "small" appliance instructions now say this. The reason is that most people don't understand electrical wiring and issues created by running to much power on too small of a conductor.
      Basically if your device is running too many watts through ANY sort of cable and that cable is 'too long' or 'too thin' then at best you pop a breaker, but at worst you set fire to the cable.
      A proper thicc extension will handle the load fine, but most people don't even own one unless they do welding / woodwork / construction / etc.
      The reason the cable for the device is so short is that the resistance on the cable is so low at that short length, that they can use very thin conductors without risk of malfunction or fire, which costs them less to manufacturer, and firmly puts the blame on you for not following the instructions when you use an extension cord

    • @HaralHeisto
      @HaralHeisto Месяц назад +2

      Does not apply in the UK. All extension leads sold here must be rated for 13A. The warning about no extension leads is mostly because in the US cheap leads are often only rated for 3 or 5A, and will overheat if used with a high-power device.

    I love everything about this… except for the price. I’d love to have a full Barbecue/Smoker combo, but it’s not an option. This seems like a perfect compromise that doesn’t need to live outside.

    Hey Barry great video, but top tip don't put the food in until the ignition sequence prompts you to as the initial ignition can cause an unpleasant acrid smoke that makes the food taste rank. I have both this and the outdoor pizza ovens and both are fantastic bits of kit

    It looks like a redesigned Ninja foodie with a spot for wood pellets. I like my foodie but it is not without downfalls, like most small appliances.

    Ninja will recommend using their own pellets so if anything go wrong it wouldn't validate their warrant after the warranty runs out it's up to the person choices

    I like ninja, im also a Creami fiend fiend. But this is a bit of a miss for me. The second you said not for indoor use, i struggled to see who this was for. At that point just save up a little more and get a propper pellet grill.

    The powercut part is the bit that gets me the most, I can understand people wanting the experience of smokey barbecued food but without all the mess of charcoal ash and whatnot, but, if a powercut mucks it all up, that just seals the deal for me, charcoal all the way in my world (but then, I'm always biased towards real fire, that and I also have several large sacks of lumpywood charcoal I got cheap from the same place I got them large this of tomatoes!)... :P
