    Do fill the pellets to the very top or they won't ignight. I think everyone messes this up on their first cook. You can check that they've ignited too. Wish I'd done that. My first cook was the most lightly smoked chicken ever prepared.

    Got the XL a few days back, so far smoked ribs and a whole chicken (in one hour!) - fantastic product, fantastic results, thanks to you for your guidance.
    Here's a question: I've used the "smoker" mode both times. If instead of using "smoker" mode I used "roast" mode but added smoke while roasting is there some difference in results? I don't see why there needs to be two paths to adding smoke........

    I've had my Ninja woodfire grill and smoker for about a month now I am impressed with the technology but there are a couple of major CONS considering the fairly hefty price of this product the ridged grill plate is extremely difficult to clean and takes a lot of the fun out of the cooking experience. I would expect at least a non stick surface on the grill plate. The second con and possibly even more important is that the smoke box lid gets jammed up with resin from the smoking and it is almost impossible to open it without breaking it. Even after a thorough clean it still gets jammed up after every smoking. These points might seem minor but for the price a little bit of quality would go a long way to improving the cooking experience.

    I'm getting mine on Sunday, that's what the delivery date is. You said the temperature probes weren't accurate on the XL pro or something to that matter. Have you done a probe/ Bluetooth probe comparison in the same piece of meat to see ant disparity between the 2 different temperature probes? That would be interesting.

    Steam comes out of the sides and back on the indoor grill. Wouldn’t it be the same with the outdoor grill if you’re not smoking? Both have an internal fan behind the top heating element. Neither have a dissipating fan.

    All good information in this video. Only issue I have is with the Pecan Shell pellets. For me these are hard to lite and hard to keep lit during the cook in my wood fire grill. I have to mix 50/50 with 'regular' pellets to get better success liteing and keeping burning.

    The only time i dont wait for the ignition cycle is when im doing beef jerky. I put the jerky on cold with the dehydrator setting, and let it do the ignition cycle with the jerky in to give it that extra smoke flavor right at the beginning. all the other stuff i do on it, i let it go through and then put it on.
    I'm on a budget so instead of an instant read thermometer. i just use one of those old school analog ones with the dial on the top lol
    Ive never brought my woodfire indoors, it lives outside. even in the cold iowa winter we just had. it survived the week of -20 degree weather with 23 inches of snow. Though i do keep it in the cover on the ninja brand stand, probably would have damaged something without that.

    I received the XL wireless version for christmas and so far have followed your videos to make pulled pork twice with excellent results! I stopped at Costco tonight to get some pork belly to follow your video from a year ago but they had cut it long ways so the belly is only about 1" thick. Is that normal? The pork belly you have in the video appears to not be cut. I asked the butcher and he said they do not cut it in 2" thickness.

    Trouble is, I bought a Ninja air fryer just before Christmas…along with a Ninja Foodi grill-both are proper job 👍🏻 My quandary is do I now buy the Smokefire or the XL?…is the bigger one worth the extra outlay in your opinion? Make SURE to clean the PELLET BOX area or creosote will build up and stop the smoke from entering the cooking chamber and the pellets will not burn after ignition. I had to use like an ice pick to break the hardened cresote off the pellet mesh after taking the pellet box out. The lid also became very sticky and also is now hard to open because that area was not getting regular cleanings!!!!!

  • @Eflodur
    @Eflodur 2 месяца назад

    The amount of smoke you got from bacon grilled by the ninja is the same when grilled with a frying pan (using same temperature same sort and amount of bacon). The only difference is how the smoke is spreaded.
    I would say the only don't is using the smoker function indoors and if available put it under the dust extractor.

    Greetings from Germany. I´m worried about using the probe (Thermo Pro TempSpike) above Temperatures of 572°F cause this is the maximun written in the manual.

      Take it out of the protein if you’re searing that high temp.

    What do I need to do when I add more pellets? Mine seems like it doesn't burn after the first batch

    • @CookingWithCJ
      @CookingWithCJ  3 месяца назад +1

      Add the pellets press and hold the Woodfire button for 3 seconds. It’ll make it go through the ignition process again.

    Ah yes a Bear Mountain, man. Nice! My favorite pellets. That BOLD is the closest I’ve gotten to replicating an off-set, unachievable, but close-ish….lol

      Thank you, I have used it 3 times, and was curious as it gets really hot with the pellets. Really enjoy your videos.
