- Chilling new details have emerged about the conduct of the Navy SEAL who was accused of war crimes but supported by President Trump. Confidential footage obtained by The New York Times shows members of SEAL team 7 being interviewed about the conduct of special operations chief Edward Gallagher. CBS News national security correspondent David Martin joined CBSN with more.

There was also the fact that the man had just written each of them up for issues he saw within the unit upon returning from activity duty during their last tour.

Gallagher then text messaged a friend in California a picture himself holding the dead captive's head by the hair with the explanation "Good story behind this, got him with my hunting knife."

Every time I see this story I always think, how would I as an American feel if this was the way an American Soldier was treated. Not to even bring up the fact that there is a mother out there that is watching American soldiers take pictures with her dead son who doesn't even look like he weighs 100 lb. I dont know Gallagher, but I know three seals who know him. Two of whom went through training with him. They all agree that he is not worthy of the title. Mainly due to his demeanor and lack of integrity. His wife could tell some stories, but she fears for her life.

As an active-duty service member myself who has spent my entire adult life over 14 and 1/2 years in the military I have nothing but respect for Mike Gallagher. He is a warrior who has sacrificed greatly for this country.
It's amazing to me how upset people are that a warrior killed it Isis member that's what they train us and send us over there to do fight America's enemies. They put this Isis Soldier out of his misery American should see what Isis does when they capture American soldiers and then tell me how bad we are.

Military personnel do not have the right to indiscriminately execute prisoners of war simply because they feel like it. That's against the Geneva Convention Guidelines and is a war crime and crimes against humanity. The man literally admitted to having a body count on CIVILIANS of up to 20. So tell me again how is actions were justified.

Gallagher’s actions must be well beyond inappropriate to have a l l six of his team members turn against him. Numbers speaker LOUD & CLEAR especially when the SEALS and other secretive agencies have that “good’ol boys” attitude of cover ups and keeping their worst deeds under wraps. If Eddie Gallagher is not brought to trial for the accusations brought against him we would be setting a horrible precedence for similar future accusations. It does give one thought that perhaps six brave men are breaking the silence so to pave the way for others to step up and do the same ‘right thing’. It’s definitely long overdue that evil actions take a’hit and is exposed no matter who is outed or what rank they may hold; Militarily or politically. We all realize that in itself war is evil, however abhorrent dishonorable actions cannot hold credibility for those who fight under a supposed honorable flag. The old cliché holds true that if one must remain in the dark and hide their actions from others it most likely holds true they are doing something they shouldn’t be doing and the wrongness of the deed would be obvious. It’s sometimes as simple as that!
