      That is my point. Look. The pattern you place underneath the mat is not the pattern you are making.

    Can you iron the featherlite to the fabric using this mat

      I am not sure, I have not tried that product. I do use it with other brands of fusible web though.

    Why on hearth put a pattern underneath the mat that is no use what so ever?

      You can see the pattern through the appli Fuse mat and safely iron on top of it. The pattern is a placement drawing showing where the pieces go to make an accurate finished piece

      Questioner meant that the whole pattern piece is covered when you put the base layer over the pattern.

      NO! Need to press on the applique Pressing sheet. If you press on the paper it will stick to the paper and ruin the piece.

    what other one gets really hot?

      They both get warm but The Applique Pressing sheet does get much warmer
