Awesome, glad to see you doing a comparison with Dyna data... i loved the “Awe man....” from the low side, so unscripted, keep making videos, it gives me something to look forward to, plus i learn something in the process.
when don guhl cracks the code on the z125 ecu for flashing itll be a wrap for the grom. i have a feeling the z125 pro is restricted in similiar ways as the gen 4 zx10 and h2 as far as timing and fueling needs
the time has come brock.. don will be contacting you shortly.. please do an alien head exhaust and chimera intake and guhl ecu flash test and post a video.. don just finished my z125.
Brock thanks for my s1krr tune pc5. Engle Motors sent me my lower and stretch kit, and had you make my tune. You r one of the best, be seeing you soon for my z125 set up.
You guys have made me very happy with the amazing quality of products and the knowledge of all your employees! They are Hands Down the best I have ever seen or encountered! Thumbs up to you and your Amazing Staff!
Brock, I would love see to see an entire channel of you getting ahold of brand new bikes and breaking them in yourself then hitting the dyno. watching what you did on 650ib's channel, you can deliver more power if you do the work compared to others bringing them to you. dyno wizard comes to mind when I see you work.
Thanks @Rekn Cycles, you would not belive how many people trust us with their brand new 'zero mile' bikes - fresh out of the crate, for break-in and product development. We have a bunch of fun watching them go, from stock... to Brock! We will keep bringing coverage in the future. We are very excited about the new GSX-R 1000 on the way, as well as some others. Stay tuned!
Creative! That's what I liked about you and your staff is that everyone has a since of Humor! Awesome video and can't wait to get up there to visit you guy's in the near future!
Quick question, I am running the Short meg full exhaust, Power Commander V, and a DNA air filter. Where is my Horsepower and Torque at now on my 2014 ZX14R from the same bikes you have dyno when the Map set up was done for my bike?
We don't tune for the public any longer. Check out Ryan Schnitz Racing: store.schnitzracing.com/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiApaarBhB7EiwAYiMwqoxaC--eD2J1xJkOEffFL8f77Zs-SHEtuWmAfQzJPdRZxl5KYdDv7xoCxRUQAvD_BwE
In Malaysia we don't have Groms but we have Honda Wave 125cc. We usually mod it up to 250cc-350cc or more. So as a tuner yourself. I want you to make the Grom 50-60hp N/A.
I had to send my DHM flashed ECU for a reflash for a cam coming. Now I am flat out crippled with the stock ECU, intake, exhaust and oil spinner delete. That tune is EVERYTHING. A weak in limp mode. 😭
I wanna say that I think that extended chain is why the acceleration took so long on the Grom. Lots of excess weight in the wrong place. Could be wrong, but I think that’s the reasoning.
if the z125 has an oil filter or spinner would contribute to a slower rev vs quicker rev. so what happens if you use a filtered system on the grom, could the rev limit be increased, and how much quicker would the engine rev up? Oh and are you making the Brocks for the 2017 grom? i want one but not sure of the firment.
That's a great question about the filtered system - we would need to test to know the answer, but what you say makes good sense. The 2017 Grom polished systems should be available by the end of this week. Please contact sales@brocksperformance.com for full details.
appreciate the reply!! just ordered a 6" now. while running a intake and exhaust. do u need to up the fuel? I don't want to hurt my bike. im thinking of doing the air box mod and getting your muffler.
There is no performance difference between the 2014 and 2016 Groms, and at the time this video was shot - the 2017 Grom did not exist. We did the best we could to explain the differences between set-up's to give potential new purchasers an idea of what the Z125 had to offer, as fairly and unbiased as possible... I belive we accomplished that task. I know we had fun trying (:
@Sabine Swahili, sorry - we do not :( But, we do offer an assortment of cool universal mufflers from our Italian friends at Spark, if you wanted to create something unique for yourself: www.brocksperformance.com/Universal-Mufflers+C482.aspx
Not the best. They are fun, light and not intimidating - but very under powered, which can lead to problems for the inexperienced. These can also not be ridden safely on the interstate, so many rides with friends are out. There are many variables to consider. This is a pretty good guide: www.bikebandit.com/blog/post/what-s-really-the-best-bike-for-beginners-we-discuss-you-decide
macaulee davies That's always a tough one for me. I suggest that everyone I know go out and ride a dirtbike for a while before they try the street. You will learn how to control the machine, as well as fall down - who knows... bikes might not be your thing? After, if street bikes are inevitable, the first bike should not have fairings, as there is a 100% chance that it will not stay vertical in the first year... and fairings are expensive. I suggest something with enough power to get out of the way (bigger than a 250), but not enough to be crazy (smaller than a 1000 - unless it's a Harley or cruiser etc.). From there, it's really personal preference. You need to be comfortable - feet on the ground, not worrying about controlling the machine - you need to concentrate on the cars around you. Hope this helps.
nice video, sounds like the price of the bike is 3grand and you put 3grand to upgrade it (If I'm not wrong, more than 3grands, exhaust, CF wheels would occupy more and that swing arm).
As the old saying goes: "Speed costs money... how fast do you want to go?" (FYI: BST carbon fiber wheels with Michelin tires $1500, Alien Head Exhaust $399, Swingarm $499)
We do not and and you are the first inquiry, btw. Personally, my experience with Kymco scooters has been positive. I belive any decent quality machine with a price point of $1999, is a good thing... we need to get more (young) people involved in motorcycling.
The price point and kymco reputation drew me to it as a first bike. I'm having a blast. Just hardly any aftermarket parts out and reliable authorized dealers. Considering getting some tools and doing it myself
I always suggest the genuine OEM service manual and a can do attitude. You can also learn many similar maintenance techniques (chain adjustment, oil change etc.) by watching RUclips vids. We offer a series of universal mufflers, you might be able to have a local muffler or custom shop help you adapt one - for a better look and sound: www.brocksperformance.com/Universal-Mufflers+C482.aspx
grosblyth also my thougt but after some search i found out it does'nt fit. The Daytona does not have fuel injection but the top speed wil be 20km faster are so. Wich is a lot but the gearing of that engine is more suitable for a pitbike.
lol, appreciate it @Nelson Colon. Good things take time my friend. Call us up and speak to our sales manager Steve Syx 937-912-0054 ext 105. Let him know you need a Brock's for your gsx- sk1k. If he sees enough interest, he might be able to get it on our schedule. NO PROMISES- but that's how the ball get's rolling. Consumer requests can lead to production on low volume bikes.
The z125 stock is 124.63cc, the grom is 124.86cc. Thus the z125 gets an extra 1.5mpg from factory while the grom has extra torque and hp from slightly higher displacement as well as having a longer stroke. The z125 being over square revs higher having a greater top end power but shorter gearing for a lower grunt under acceleration. With modifications the z125 would be the better contender as the stroker crank still makes the over square have higher top end power and the engine would breather better with a 4 valve unlike the grom that's just all about big bore with a weak crank and low rpm.
We just haven't had time to design the mechanical hardware to attach a quick shifter, so that we can make those components available to the public. Dynojet and Bazzaz both make them, but they need to be attached.
@Novex Gaming - Great Question! The Grom's ECU still maintains active O2 sensor monitoring and adjustment to match emissions specifications, so it is very lean a low throttle openings, but we can map wide open throttle for performance. The Z125 Pro does not have this issue, which allows us to map the entire RPM range. During deceleration, some unburned fuel can enter the pipe and get ignited - causing a harmless pop.
If you had the flame suit on for the earlier test ride you wouldn't have ate the asphalt. That was funny though, I'm glad you included it!! How much was it to repair the dyno after those hogs ripped it up?!
I wish Honda and Kawasaki made it a 4 valve instead of only 2. Only making it a uni cam like what the honda crf250r has (basically a sohc that acts like a dohc)
Unless it's for racing in a 125 category, what's the point of extensive mods that add 2hp to these bikes?! Seems smarter to move up to 250 or 300cc with more than 25hp stock and more substantial wheels and frame that can go on a highway. Gas mileage would still be in the 60+ range.
Our Grom seat came from Steady Garage: www.steadygarage.com/store/two-wheels/mc-parts/honda-grom-msx-125/seats/gs3-type-custom-honda-grom-seat-carbon-black-stitching
that extra 20 pounds of weight was probably just enough to hold the grom even until the final gear. that and the gearing difference between the two bikes
I had no idea the power was so low on these bikes. I thought they would be comparable to the dirt bike motors, but it really isn't close. Might be better to just make one of the dirt bikes street legal.
I feel you. The problem with converting a dirt bike over to a street bike is logistics. It would require EPA compliance and tremendous expense/trouble/hassle/work. You can try the 'home-builder' route, but it's a giant hassle too (some states are better/worse than others) Another Option: A friend of mine installed a 35hp CRF450X engine in his Grom, Its a BLAST to ride!! www.gromforum.com/forum/2014-grom-general-discussion-forum/28290-450cc-grom.html
Yeah that would be really awesome to put in. I had a CRF450 for a while back and that bike was no joke, on the other hand I got my KTM 300 street legal up here in WA without too much effort and those are 2 strokes....hhhmmm. Oh well, it is going to be raining the next 5 months here in WA so I guess I have time to think about it. Thanks for the heads up about the engine swap.
you cant believe but here in Asia a Honda 70cc can hit 64mph and produces 6 bhp and can rev upto 7000rpm and its engine can last for 100k miles without a rebuilt and all of this for just 600 dollars...now that's cool...😎😎😂
he tucked on a dyno!
?
phatrides222000 to shift the weight to the center to get top speed that's what your sussposed to do
or sit straight up to balance the bike and keep the weight on the back tire to get an accurate reading on a 4th gear dyno pull.
wind resistance dummy
its a dyno, no wind at all. Im guessing this was sarcasm.
That was the best response you could have after wiping out: "Aww man!"
Thumbs up for that👍👍
Nice video Sir!
From the master of the YouTubiverse? Thanks!
Good to see you have a sense of humour over dropping the Grom, some very interesting content
Thanks for the video Brock! Fun little comparison, given the bikes and setup you had available.

@bmws1krr 2017, Mike and the guys at Ingle are great folks! Glad you like your BMW tune and I'm sure you will be equally happy with our Z125 work.
I like the look of Z125 pro.
I like the look of the Z125 over the first gen Grom, but def like the look of the new Grom over both.
The double Z tail lights on the Z125 are trick!
You guys have made me very happy with the amazing quality of products and the knowledge of all your employees! They are Hands Down the best I have ever seen or encountered! Thumbs up to you and your Amazing Staff!
THANK YOU! - Everyone here tries very hard to please. I will let them know about your comment :)

Nice video! I bought the z125 pro because I liked the look of the bike a little more!
the bumps in the curve are from the longer chain bouncing
is that "active self protection" soundtrack?
Brock, I would love see to see an entire channel of you getting ahold of brand new bikes and breaking them in yourself then hitting the dyno. watching what you did on 650ib's channel, you can deliver more power if you do the work compared to others bringing them to you. dyno wizard comes to mind when I see you work.

That “ aw maaan” was so meaningful. xD
Kawasaki rider for life I got a Kawasaki Zx6R and I just get yesterday my Kawasaki z125 pro
Good to have gears and wind drag effect when on dyno
finaly u made a vid again about those fun bikes :D i like much
Im not a bike expert but why are you putting a pipe through the exhaust
That's an O2 sniffer, to measure air fuel ratio.
Creative! That's what I liked about you and your staff is that everyone has a since of Humor! Awesome video and can't wait to get up there to visit you guy's in the near future!

So wich one should you choose? Groom looks terrific but I don't know nothing about specs
At first glance the thumbnail looked like you were riding on a treadmill lol. Which, come to think of it, sounds entirely possible 🤔

maybe this bumpiness in the curve is caused by the enormous chain, is that possible?
Thinking about getting one
I ran 62 MPH on the Z125 - I have been 72 MPH on the Grom... but it has more mods.
Love that TST taillight on the Grom!!
I wanna say that I think that extended chain is why the acceleration took so long on the Grom. Lots of excess weight in the wrong place. Could be wrong, but I think that’s the reasoning.
Are both of these bikes 2 valves single cam, 52.??mm pistons?
Grom: 52.4mm Bore x 57.9mm Stroke - Z125pro: 56.0mm Bore x 50.6mm Stroke. Both 2 valve - SOHC.
Whoa, thanks man. Its actually a lot more different than the 125s here in the PH.

that grom is a beauty. is that a 6" stretch?
Thank you. Yes 6" extended swingarm.
appreciate the reply!! just ordered a 6" now. while running a intake and exhaust. do u need to up the fuel? I don't want to hurt my bike. im thinking of doing the air box mod and getting your muffler.
the AB mod would be with a K&N drop in , just getting rid of all the restrictors
We offer maps for use with our exhausts. For best performance: our exhaust/pcv and our matching map
Were their top speeds similar
is there some reason why you didn't use models from the same year?Doesn't seem to honest to me..

Any timing advance would be limited to around 2 degrees max. Anywhere we would try it.
@@BrockDavidson awesome thanks man :) I should probably get someone to listen for knocks if I advance it
Do u think these would be good starter bikes ?

sir have you tried fury 125 of kawasaki?
We have not. Unfortunately, it is not available in the US. Too bad, it looks like FUN also.
that tuck sold me on the exhaust
lol
bruh, whats that music from at the beginning????
How about a 3HP shot of nitrous to pull away from your 125 buddies? Even a 1 pound bottle would last a fairly long time with that little spray in.
lol, love it!
100$ rebuilds screw it 513 reppin grom life with a megaphone by brocks whatup 937
lmfao this video had me dieing i thought i was done laughing after seeing the leathers but the stretched grom took the cake haha
great video two thumbs up
whats the timing set up you got going on with the grom?
We have a Dynojet PCV fuel controller - we can adjust the ignition timing through it.
Don't ride on the stock tires on the grom trust be they slide everywhere.
Yep they put me in hospital
I too was a victim of the stock tires. Ate shit going 45 mph. :(
wtf... that sucks!
I feel you...
3 stitches in my hand, I know all about them...
What was the average afr for the z125?
@trickmustang 1994 - not sure if you mean stock, or after our mods? Let me know and I will check it out for you.
@Brock Davidson after the mods.. thanks
@@trickmustang1994 we try to stay around 13.0-13.4 for all-around street use on pump.

Mr brock do u have a exhaust for my cbr 250 ? :)
We do not - sorry!
ahh bummer, 650ib is always praising you, wat about the upcoming tracer 700 ? faired version of the mt07?
M.R Raghav depends on how the bike is received. We offer systems for the FZ09, they have proven to not be popular at all :(
really?! its a top bike in Europe, maybe start considering shipping out ur exhausts, and marketing in selective counties.
M.R Raghav We have international shipping and worldwide marketing - we don't sell much to Europe because our exhausts are considered race use only.

It's not about the size of the bike in the cool contest...it's about the size of the COOL in the bike contest!
That's what I was thinking
You know its serious when u where full gear on a dyno.
Yea you gotta tuck for that air resistance inside. Who didn't know this? Lmao
that extra 20 pounds of weight was probably just enough to hold the grom even until the final gear. that and the gearing difference between the two bikes
i was suprized without the timing how much the grom needed it
since you stretched the grom you need to lower it or bag it
you look like Mike in the pickers, series channel...
I hope that's a compliment? lol
Unfair comparison
Probably the most fair comparison. Lol
Thank you. We did the very best with the resources we had available.
+Brock Davidson very fair because he explained all of the differences and street tested to back it up
2:34 👌🏻👍🏻
Kevin didn't take your advice about wearing proper protection. Short sleeve T shirt is no defence when sliding down the road.
I love everything about this but my God that suit should be burnt 😂
That was funny. Tucking was great
I had no idea the power was so low on these bikes.
Awwww man, now do a Benelli TnT135 for my Daughter!
You do have an advantage over the grom. The z125 is lighter and has bigger gas tank. The benelli is better than both
Also fuel economy is better suspension and seat and higher ride height clearance
moved to asia and built the worlds fastest super light bikes.. a ohio boy here coming come 2018 and sell to public what i have created
