Yeah, most of the time in this solo I’m picking. But sometimes I hammer on/off depending on the area of the solo. I often use economy of picking techniques in my solos. Most of the time now I don’t really think about when I’m picking or just using the left hand on the fretboard. It’s more of a natural feeling of when to pick or don't pick.
@@kub9 Part of it is the patch I use on the Axe FX III. I use the Moke’s Crazy Train patch. Very high gain and compression. You can barely touch a string and it comes through loud and clear (if above the noise gate threshold). On the front end of the rig I use a noise gate that cuts a lot of background noise. I also palm mute most of this lead. Just a touch of palm muting to kill noise. That cuts a lot of noise from inadvertently hitting other strings… and causes the string you hit to die quicker instead of sustaining too long. My left hand is muting all of the strings below the primary string. Lastly, the backing track volume is high enough to cover up some of the mistakes I made in the lead.
Love the tone.
Love the tones I get from the Axe FX

@@MetalManiAxe how do you get this awesome sound without picking and there is no noise behind (a lot of gain?)
