I like this video because she explains WHY you're doing what you're doing, unlike other beginner videos that give clear instructions but don't make you think what you're doing. Here she's really teaching.

I hadn't read any comments until the video finished and I'm really surprised that supposed experienced crocheters are have trouble following the instructions. Slow down the speed or pause if you are working along with her. This is one of the best demonstration videos I've seen. Excellent job.

Great directions on how to sew it, I have made a few crocheted roses, but was never satisfied with how they looked after sewing them, finally I know how to sew them so I will actually like them
Thank You for sharing your time, and your talent with all of us.

I made one along with your video (I'm a beginner and it came out perfectly watching it one time straight through) and then checked the comments to see if there were any other suggestions (as I usually do)... have to say, I'm not really sure where the confusion is coming from. I saw what you were doing for a row, paused, did it, then saw what we were supposed to do next, paused, did it, etc., so perhaps those getting confused are just overthinking it a bit. 😉 Thanks for the tutorial; I look forward to watching more from you!

Extremely easy pattern. I was just fascinated at watching your style of crochet .. where did you learn that? Its more like knitting with a crochet hook. Nothing wrong with it, just didn't realize people crocheted like that. For those who don't know what I'm talking about. . Both hands should be stationed, needle rests in crook against thumb and wrist does all the work, middle finger on right hand, acts as stablizer for hook, while little finger on right hand, grips, stabilizers project. Left hand little finger controls tension of yarn and left first finger serves as yarn/thread guide. Your projects are beautiful all the same. Been crocheting for 65 years, was taught by nuns in Europe and if we moved anything but the hook, we knew all about it. Learnt to crochet French lace with 1 ply cottn and .000 hook. By the way, the flat part of the hook is what the thumb lies against, just thought I would share. Guess, my style is a dying art. :-)

The way you crochet is the way I was taught also. Have no idea what this is, but it isn't crochet. Pretty though, just the weirdest technique I've seen. Fingers, hands and joints must ache.

I think there's a problem with the count if you're following the pattern in the vid exactly, which is confusing. She says she does 40 chains. On the second round, you should be going into every other chain, which would leave you with 20 holes for petals. However, she's somehow only has 12 petals when she's done. Not sure where the disconnect is. I'm pretty new at crocheting, but I'm also good at math.

How come you end up with only (is it 10 or 12?) petals? I've been ending up with 20 petals even though I chained 41 just like you did. I don't think I am double-working into any of the chainspaces? What am I missing?

    • @kalakady8
      @kalakady8 5 лет назад +3

@@cassandrasoriano8649 I did the same thing. I'll have to go back and check, but I don't think she explained it well. I'm a beginner (started 1 week ago), and the way it sounded to me when she explained was that you're creating a petal in each chain 2 space. The only thing I can think is that you're supposed to make a petal in every other and slip stitch in between? That makes more sense, but I don't think she ever specifically said that. Us beginners need everything spelled out ;-). I'll be ripping mine out (I'm only halfway through right now, but checked the comments to see if anyone said anything about the petals) and trying again :-).

I hate to complain, but you need the feedback. I did the 40+1 and came up with one extra chain at the end too. Your hands move much too fast and you explain what you are doing a little fast also. I've had to watch this video 5 times to understand that you don't crochet in every other 2 chain space. I am not a beginner, I've been crocheting for 50+ years and I have a lot of knowledge of Intermediate crocheting. I have never gotten an anxiety attack from watching a video, but I think yours gave me one....lol

I must agree. Goes to fast and you aren't able to see for her hands. Took me a couple of times trying as go before figured out what to do.

Same, same. I want these roses, so I'm going to be persistent.
I had an extra chain at the end of the first row
I thot she was skipping chain-2 spaces and so mine had big holes in it
This, even after slowing the video to 1/2 speed!
      ...back to the drawing board!
Thanks for hearing the same thing I did so I can learn from you, @Katherine Johnson !

@@DarkMoonDroid I don't understand why is any instruction in the video that difficult to understand. There's the visual aid to bridge any lack of comprehension in the directions and most of all if you're not a beginner you can easily eyeball it.

Why do I always end with a remainder of one foundation chain when I make it to the end of row one. I even tried with 11 stitches and always always the remainder of one. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
