    My dog loves her homemade food. I give her whatever kind of meat is on sale, along with sweet potato, mixed vegetables, brown rice, and beans. I make a big batch of it store it in the fridge. But I started doing this because I couldn't get her to eat dog food, be it the cheapest kibble or most expensive canned food. She'd sniff it walk away. Now she chows down.
    I keep kibble on hand because I go to work early in the morning. I will give her a cup of it before I leave for work. She will eat some of it. In the evening, I will mix her leftover kibble with homemade food.

    We have had Sammy our 100lb. Goldendoodle for almost six years. We are both 69, have practiced safety since COVID 19, and since we have spoiled Sammy, he has always loved my cooking! I’m a southern comfort cook with lots of meats, fruits and veggies! We also added two Goldendoodle puppies in April, Daisy and Pepper. When we decided to get the pups I decided that if I was going to feed homemade I was gonna do it right! I have loved your recipes and learned lots from you. I have also studied up on raw feeding, I prefer rare, suppliments and nutrition and cook homemade for my three dogs. I’ve come to realize it doesn’t have to be rocket science or take lots of time. I check ears, eyes, weight and yes, occasionally poop. The vet is very pleased with their progress and I really enjoy how they love their feeding! Keep sharing and thank you for your posts!

    My batches are for 60 days. I bag it in 3 day portions and freeze it. To save money you can buy JennyO ground turkey 3 pounds for 10.00.
    I use chicken livers and hearts, a pound of ground beef, some rice, frozen peas and carrots, frozen French style green beans, sweet potato, fresh zucchini cooked and I chop a dozen hard boiled eggs in the blender, shells and all. He hops and skips to his bowl. It’s so cute.
    PS. To cook the meat. I sauté all the ground meat til cooked fully, I chop the hearts and liver in the blender to a fine chop and sauté it too. It’s liquidity but it cooks up to a fine ground meat.
    I mix it all in a wash tub and fill the bags

      I read where peas are not good for dogs...but I use a lot of other greens. My dogs hate eggs and rice...even flavored. Heads up....if you have an Aldi store they sell 1 pound frozen lean ground Turkey for $1.89.

    I put a little more veggies in mine. I use brown rice and quinoa and flax. I sometimes put in fish and she live her fish. Canned tuna, salmon, sardines etc. I rince my rice and quinoa and this should be done too because of the residue on both and quinoa is something that needs rincing. I put in a bit of chicken bouillon but only 1 cube as it is salty and a touch of garlic…not much either. I grind my eggshells because I have a small dog. If my mixture is too thin, which rarely happens, I add less than 1/4 cup oatmeal. Doggie loves it! I freeze in smaller containers, not sure about keeping an extra large container in frig for too many days. Mine is a dainty eater…your dog is a true muncher! These homemade food are so much better for our animals and really nothing to make. They get so they know when you are cooking for them and are so happy. Cook for your doggies, they will thank you for it and live longer and healthier.

      Getting the right balance doesn't change whether you are raw feeding or cooking it. Remember bones are part of a dogs diet so if they aren't getting it you need to supplement that into their diet. Be sure to get calcium without d3 in it.

    1. If you clean your area after each meal it won't get this dirty, even if you cook 4x per day
    2. You should add and cook the rice first and the meat in last "cause the rice needs to be very cooked when the meat can be just cooked

    Not a big deal but as a person who sold Tupperware for years, the plastic containers you use are not Tupperware. LOL. About your stove top, don't even worry about it, that just means you are an awesome chef. I'm doing this recipe right now and I hope my girl loves it.

      I've watched a few videos on making dog food and this one has a lot more protein than some of the others which had more vegetables in them. I'm going to have a go. I'm sure my dog will really appreciate my efforts! Thanks for making this video. Your dog is great!

      damsel In a dress ....I grew up on a farm and my mother always fed our dogs table scraps and egg shells. I guess I assumed everyone knew that the shells were good for them. I realized how wrong I was to assume this, when my lady friend was shocked when I gave her doggie an egg shell that I had crunched up. Laughing!!! (I started to see my life pass before my eyes.). BTW...if you ever raise chickens, you never want to let them eat any egg shells. The shells won’t hurt them, but it encourages them to break and eat the egg shell after laying it. You’ll soon run low on eggs.

    Just came across this amazing channel! I am currently transitioning my dog from kibble to homecooked. He’s a very picky eater and has lost a significant amount of weight.
    My question is, for weight gain, how much should i feed my dog this recipe daily? He is a lab pit mix, a little underweight. He’s currently 50lbs and needs to gain at least 5-8 more pounds just so his ribs are not showing

    • @earthling1984
      @earthling1984  4 года назад +1

      They say 2 to 4 percent body weight for home cooked. If you want weight gain, feed 4 to 6 percent for a couple weeks.

    Great recipe. But its important to put a Omega supplement like a vet approved oil because it keeps their skin and coats shiny , healthy and its also needed for lubrication of their joints like the kneecaps and hips. Salmon oil is a great one. But Overall, this is a great recipe especially since you're switching the ingredients from time to time.👍A pre and Probiotic supplement will make your pet even more healthier. But with all recipes, first discuss it with your Vet Dr because all pets are different. Some can eat high proteins and their kidneys and bile can break it down while some pets organs can have issues with to much proteins and might need a low carb and low protein diet. This was the case with 2 of my 3 pets. But this recipe is overall great. Thanks for sharing it with us.😊

      Thanks. :) I don't give supplements. I don't believe in them. Shouldn't be needed with a proper diet. My dog does get salmon, talapia, catfish, anchovies, fresh caught bluegill (when I go fishing), and more! :)

      @@earthling1984 I know You do what works for you. But myself and others with pets that have or may have health or deficiency issues that we may not be aware of because we can only speak about our own, Should consult their Vet to see if the food would be balanced with the supplements and omegas that their diet would lack and if the Proteins would be ok for that individual pet. My pet for example had a kidney issue and I gave a food like yours to him and complicated his kidneys.Protein was to high. Only a bloodwork can determine if those proteins are fine with each pet. Your recipe is a good one My suggestion is we should consult the vet to determine if its fully balanced for our personal pets.And if it is then our pets can enjoy the recipe without worries. Again thanks for sharing it with us all.👍

    How much should I feed a 84 lb doggy? Also I was told to add nutrients and minerals on top of my home made food. How do you feel about that?

    • @earthling1984
      @earthling1984  Год назад

      I personally don't add nutrients / supplements. I just feed a variety of quality real foods. But, you can add something if you feel the need to. The general rule is 2 to 4 or 5 percent of dogs body weight per day, in homemade food. Depends on age, breed, activity level, etc.. 3% is a good starting point. So, an 84lb dog would need around 2.5lbs of homemade food a day.

    Hi there I am so glad I ran into your video. I'm tired of spending a lot of money for dog food I feel like they're eating better than I am, I have never heard of dogs eating eggshells, once cooked are they soft they won't choke once cooked? I have two small chiweenies puppies that are about 6 years old

    • @earthling1984
      @earthling1984  6 месяцев назад

      If you are worried about egg shells, you can rinse them off and dry them. Then put them into a coffee grinder, or blender, and make them a powder.
      My dog also eats raw foods, and that includes raw bones. He'll eat a whole cornish hen, or a whole small chicken. He eats everything raw, bones and all. So a little egg shell is nothing to most dogs.
