IN THE PROCESS OF REMOVING THE SOLDIER BRICKS THE WALL ABOVE STARTED TO COLLAPSE WHICH CAUSED A MAJOR PANIC.
BY THE TIME WE GOT ORGANISED IT WAS VERY LATE WHICH IS WHY THE VIDEO IS IN 2 PARTS....ENJOY PT 2 🧱👍🏽

Steve, I know you have explained previously how 'Triangulation and Friction' stopped bricks collapsing when you remove courses - but Holy Shit, that's taking the theory and practice into un-chartered territory! But, wise head gets it right again, stop, cuppa, think, then act decisively. Hope you showed the Customer the videos of what you had to do! Thanks for sharing, keep safe both of you! Oh, and, bloody well spotted Al, you may have averted a calamity!

That was the old trick of removing wooden window and fitting pvc with no lintel, but adding virtually free hanging soldiers i think. Good job on the recovery. 👍👍

  • @leebowley6953

well done, looked like a tricky one. Why do you have to support the lintel when you start rebuilding and why do you not treat the end of the lintel when you cut it down? Any galvanizing protection has now been compromised and will rust and the lintel is lonely 3mm. Can't see that lasting 70 years.

I noticed your hawk stand/two legs were placed on a narrow strip of wood.
I would drill a hole in each/leg-foot. Large enough for a beefy screw. This way if the hawk or wood should shift, it will shift as a single unit.
    That's my two cents.
