Agreed.If you really like the extras the touch had.(resolution, full phonehead jack, extra memory)Go for it.The env3 can overcome some of those shortcomings of course with memory cards, headpohne adapter etc.The two things the env3 has going for it for some people is the exterior keypad and battery life.About an hour more of talktime I believe.I own neither but will be switching to Ver. and probably get the env3.Its way more than I need.Younger people will probably like the touch older the env3.

The big negative regarding the Touch when compared to the EnV3 is the battery life. Most suggest getting the extended battery which puts you in for an extra $60 or so. I've heard a lot of people complain that they can't hear the ringtones on their EnV Touch too. Not sure if that's as much of a problem with the EnV3 despite the speakers being in the same place.
Depends largely on how you use it. If you use it heavily for the browser/texting/camera etc, then the life is somewhere between 16-24 hours. With standard use it is 24 hours or more. Batterys vary from phone to phone too. Some batteries might last as much as 25% longer than others despite equal usage.

Ha, I agree. My current/soon-to-be old phone is the original enV. When I first got it, I loved the design because it was a cute rounded orange shape. (Now, it's all broken and gross and the whole appeal of it is gone just because it's two years old.) Even now, it still looks better than 2 and 3... MUCH better.
LG produces an Extended Battery (I bought one but have yet to use it). You can buy them through Verizon or on ebay. They cost generally about $45-$65. Word is they last up to 4 days on a charge which is extraordinary on a phone like this.
It all depends on what one thinks they need. Four years ago the EnV3 would have been state of the art and better than most phones out there. If you think you need the better screen, touch screen, faster internet etc. Get the touch.
If you mostly use your phone for talking and texting Im sure the env3 is more than enough phone for you. Plus it has about an hour more of battery life for those who use a cell phone for its main purpose, making phone calls.
it's basically common sense. the enV's in my opinion, besides the touch, look hideous

Glad to see a comparison review. Just renewed our contract with Verizon. Wife got the Samsung Alias 2 and I chose the LG env3. That is till I compared specs and saw the Touch has way better screens and video resolution. Taking the env3 to the store for an exchange tommorow. I figured I still wanted a keypad but not for the tech sacrifices Id suffer. I just typed this on an iPod touch so Im used to touchscreens already. Great video, Ill have to check out your site.
personally, I like the env touch, but I also favor touch screens over others. The env3 is pretty awesome and if you like it better you should get it.
I bought the Env3 about a month ago instead of the touch because its only 50 bucks now and its a nice phone. Nothing spectacular about it just a good phone for messaging. There are some pretty cool features on it too, but I won't go into detail. The battery lasts forever if you don't text much, mine lasted over a week on thanksgiving break (I didn't text much Thanksgiving break)
The only con about the Env3 is that it occasionally randomly shuts off on me, this happens to other people too.
My friend Anthony has the Touch. It's a great phone but i don't use my phone like he does so if you're a casual user just get the env3 if you want some HIGH RES and games and stuff (or are a phone fanatic) ENV touch is for you!
Well good thing about EnV3 is it's small so it's more portable... but I like the EnV Touch more because of the keypads and some features... I mostly like EnV Touch for the headphone.. it's nice
I dont to much good things to say about touch screens, everyone that I've had has worked horribly. So I moved to the env3 and it is AWSOME!!
actually Verizon is now requiring both the enV 3 and the enV touch 2 have a data plan. the requirement is $9.99 bucks for both.

Well, my mom and I are going to be getting free phone upgrades from Verizon tonight, and we both have the option to choose either one of these. My mom likes simpler, no-fuss things, so I guess she could use the enV 3, and I also think that she could use a QWERTY much easier than just punching the number-based keypads for texts (which she takes forever on.) I rather like the Touch though, simply because I like bigger and better things. I guess it just depends on who you are and what you do.
There is supposed to be apps for the enV Touch also. They haven't started yet. The iPhone isn't the only phone to have those. Please research before arguing.
I DEMAND an external tactile 10-key pad on my phone for one-handed texting, so I'm going with the EnV3. Great review though, damn I wish they put that beautiful high-res screen on the 3 instead of just the Touch. Again, great job, very entertaining and informative! One thing I would like to see on one of these video reviews is what the external screen display looks like when texting with the phone closed.
i have an env touch and i love it. nothing wroung with it. i would recomend this phone
i love the envy touch!! not just because it has a touch screen also because of the picture quality and video quality alothough it could cut of at certin time and restart.. lets face it no one will find a perfect phone that meets ALL there wants.. TEAM ENVY TOUCH!
I was just saying you were comparing apples, and oranges. Not really a comparisons different uses, but the only three things I find better on the iPhone is iTunes, Touch screen, WIFI. Personally those were not enough to leave Verizon.

if you want the full QWERTY keyboard, the dare doesnt have it, and the enV touch is better in my opinion, but its up to you, and it depends if you want the touch screen
not if you buy online.. which is how i got mine. they give you alll the discounts right away without mail in rebates, and they ship it to you within 2 days. i ordered mine at 7pm wed, and got it delivered 3 pm fri.

It was going to be $50 more at the verizon store I went to. I really didn't want the touch screen either, although it would have been cool to show off. I also wasn't getting a package that would allow me to do much more than messaging. The Nv Touch would have been fun to tinker with, but the Nv3 was the right one for me. I decided on this also because I figured the bigger screen on the Touch would sap battery life more quickly. Thanks for the review (dog fight) I enjoyed it.
yup, it has internet and its an ipod. its sorta like the iphone, it has a touch screen on the front and then flips open. on the inside its a keypad and another screen. mine was like $400
oooo that is a good reason cause i would hate having all those touch screens
i have the evn touch and im loving it so far. the only thing i do not like is that the battery life is not so good. if your mom uses her cell phone alot it may not be the best for her. but i think the env touch is better because the internal screen is bigger and it has a nicer design than the env3. but since your mom drops her phone alot i think the env3 is more sturdy because it does not have the touch screen. hard pick. hope i helped
the env touch is 79.99 for now but that price won't stick for long
I was eligible for an upgrade and I thought to choose between the: enV3, enV Touch, or the Samsung Rogue.
I chose the enV3. If I wanted a touch screen phone, I would've chosen the Rogue, but it requires a data package.

well my enV touch is the best its been wit me thru so many falls because i skate and yeah it still doesnt break on me so yeah i trust this phone more than any other phone
@tht ninja guy right under me... TRUE tht I had the env3 4 2 years and got it replaced 10 times for bad keys and turning off by it's self
omg i just got the envy touch and i luv it even tho the batterie is loww i charge iit every nite and i love mii fone and i love urr vidz their awesome i love cell phones!!!!
the problem with the enV touch is that it needs a data plan and not everybody wants or can afford the data plan( Ithink it's about $30 more a month). The enV 3 is a great phone that works just as good as the touch and you CAN use the mobile browser with it as well, I have no problem getting on the 3G network and looking at my email and other things. another upside to the enV3 is it is CHEAPER!!!!
1 thing noah didnt say was de ENV touch, on de touch screen it has an ACCELEROMETER for textin internet and the for the music player

yeah you have 30 days to adjust to your phone, if you don't like it you can bring it to the store. but you can't hand $20. it'll be off your bill or credit card.
i dont know which one i should get yet....but these comments and the video have helped a lot :)

@wario77777 well you have your opinion and i have mine. i think the env touch is better. first of all it has a 3.2 AUTO FOCUS camera which makes it so much better! it also has a better updated menu system, user interface. the env3 has the standard verizon menu which is pretty boring. the env touch also has a drawing pad which is pretty fun. an unlimited racing game. the keyboard is also more spaced out. oh and an accelerometer. and you also dont have to use the touch screen just flip it open.
since the enV 800x40 screen that means the battery life would drain the battery much much quicker then the enV3 so yeah
i love the Env touch, i called Verizon to see how much it would cost with a 2 year contract and they told me it was $100. so I'm getting it in February. and to think...........i was just about 2 get the voyager. i am so happy but i wish February would hurry up.

at walmart the EnV is like 40 or so, with contract, but without a contract it is like 115

the longest my battery on the enV3 has lasted with just constant txting and iming is abut 52 hours

no touch screens have sturdy screens..... you just have to be careful with it... i have the voyager (black) and the only thing i dont like is i have to baby it because if pressure cracks in the screen... im in my 4th one because of the screens cracking.
Also LG could have gave the touch a bigger battery(when they know it pulls A LOT more power), its the same as my lg rumor

the chocolate touch on a different note sucks...do NOT get it...i've had one since January and I've been through 3 already! and i treat it pretty carefully...

i have the enV3 and was considering upgrading to the touch but personally theres nothing on the touch tht im not already happy with on the enV3. to me it really depends on wat ur going to be using the phone for. thts just my opinion of course
When I get back to the states next year I may get the env3 from a third party company because I had the env2 which was nice and I text more than I go online plus Besides It's not like it doesn't have a web browser. maybe not the best but it has one.

omg. Looking at some of these comments, its sounds like people are going to kill each other over a phone. I prefer the env 3 because the the touch has too many problem( My personal experience) My fiend has a touch an d hes says it cuts off or restarts at random times. And as far aas the camera, the env3 takes excellent high quality pictures and the videos are almost the same exact quality as the touch
i like the enV3 more because the enV touch has mojor batery life problemes my dad has the voyager and it is pritty good but the enV touch is still ok
since nov. 8 .. VZ decided to require a data plan . minimum $9.99 ... i know it sucks but if u really want this phone u gotta get it

yes you do have to have a 10$ a month data plan with the touch. that makes the touch 240$ even more than the env3. touchscreen not worth that much more.

Touch: way better menu screen, regular headphone, better screens, bigger key bord
Size&no touch vs better extras and touch more luxury for 20$ more although env3 has a better feel
@AshuraSenku dont get the Samsung Impression. AT&T sucks big-time. I have AT&T and I am definitely switching to Verizon.
The enV3 seems like my kind of phone, i had enough of resistive touchscreens!
I have the enV touch and my sister has the enV3. My touch has had some issues. 1. Even though I went into message settings and changed the default entry to T9 word it still goes back to abc when replying to a text. 2. Idk if the screen has light adjustment or what but my screen goes bright and dim sometimes. 3. It can be slow at times and doesn't fully exit out of what you are doing and leaves part of the screen white. 4. Battery life is not the greatest.
i have the dare its less kiddish not everything is not so big like the env. but i like the regular qwerty not the virtual like on the dare. i would definitely get the env over the dare. the env has everything the dare has but then it should coming out about a year later
