Great guide, very helpful. Been wanting to do something like this but 90% of the resources online for my 2000 T/A are full of broken links. Super detailed, and it looks like I can find the materials on Amazon.
Not just for the lazy, but please get an Amazon affiliate account and link all the products you used. I'd gladly flip you the 5% or whatever for your time in this video. Thanks.

That's awesome, I'm considering getting a 2001 firebird and adding something like this.

@@Xlnjv yes, it's been very reliable. I've owned it since late August of last year and only thing I've done as far as maintenance is change the oil and put in a new battery. I haven't had any system on the car fail, though I could use new tires. It has always started right up and never given me any issues. The T-tops don't even leak in the car wash. Lol.

They look and sound great. Do you have the v6 or 8?

@@Xlnjv mine is a V6. Isn't fast, but has the Trans Am handling package, so it's still fun to drive. I keep the top open on nice days. Not a lot of wind for the front seat passengers.

I am having trouble seeing where you drilled the holes underneath the bumper. It looks like it is in the middle of the car. Then when you said you fished it thru with a coat hanger it looks like it is the left side of the tail light. Could you describe where you drilled the hole and its relationship to the tail light and the interior of the trunk?

Where did you get power? I know you mention that it's from up front, but not sure where. Also, I have a cd changer in the rear that I will be removing. So can I use power (red wire) from that?

Is the wiring similar to a 2002 sunfire?

Great video, Can the camera be connect directly to an aftermarket amp power? And ground to chassis. So all that would be needed from radio to back is the trigger wire and camera rca?

  • @pokefamily7316

How do you get it to trigger when in reverse? You don't explain that and I can only get it to turn on by manually turning it on from the deck

Got a question on hooking camera up with its on switched power source so that you can activate it when u want. I hooked up a switched power source off of radio but the camera stays activated all the time once you select the camera on the radio. How can I get camera to only come on when selected?

Nevermind, found your video for installing camera's for radio and found out that camera stays powered on all the time when u wire it up from a switched source.

Title of the video should be changed. It should titled only for Firebird. 93 to 96 camaro has totally different dash and center bezel removal. You practically have to remove the front of the entire dash to install aftermarket radio. How do I know, because I have 95 Z28 and 93 Trans Am. Trans Am are so much friendly to work on. Camaro is a nightmare.

Yes I agree. I have a 94 Camaro and I always dred pulling the double den pioneer cd DVD deck out. Going to try and install my backup camera 📷 tomorrow. I think that I am going to run the camera power wire to my tweeter amp remote turn on wire. That way I should be able to view the camera without having to put the car in reverse.

You obviously know your stuff! here's a challenge for you if you offer tech advise. Wife's car 97 base firebird convertible. there was a 2 din in there wanted a newer version without cd went with a 2 Gg 32Gg RK-A715. My problem is, I had to butt connect & soldered & heat shrink colour codes as per diagram from radio" since previous owner had cut factory connector. I followed everything as one would, radio boots , plays awesome on acc. key mode + back up camera works but when I turn ignition to on, the screen goes out & sound cut as well, like wtf ! I know probably a simple fix but?? Thanks,

    • @victorassivero1061
      @victorassivero1061 Год назад

You likely already fixed this but on the chance that you haven't, I would check each power and ground connection; ACC ON, Always ON, Ground and the AMP and Antenna ON wires as well. Check for any shorts of unused wires (wrap them all separately). I left all the OG wiring in place, uncut, in case I ever want to revert the whole vehicle back to stock. I can new speaker wires to all four points, added two amps in the trunk along with a sub box and ran a 4ga from the battery to the trunk as well (all power lines are on separate breakers, three total). Hope that helps (if you still needed help that is).

You are not clear on the power source for the camera

    • @hyperjohn6627

Power source can be whatever you want it to be. I put in a switch connected straight to the battery, so I can toggle my super cheap camera at any time.
