  • @JeepTJay6

    Isn’t the wire you cut off the RCA meant to run from the reverse circuit up to the head unit? Why cut that off just to run a whole new wire in its place? 🤷‍♂️

  • @keithskustoms2311
    @keithskustoms2311 3 года назад +9

    Don’t get it, you snipped the wire that went with the camera input wire, then you ran a whole new wire that you had to run the whole length of the car, you could have used the wire that you snipped instead. 🤔

    • @juan2049
      @juan2049 2 года назад +4

      The reason he snipped it is because that original wire is very thin and a very common failure point. You want to use a lower gauge wire.

      Well at least you explained it. But I also didn't know why he did it. He should of explained the reason why he cut the wire and also talked a little slower and been more clear in the area where he was cutting as all those wires were a hot mess of confusion. But thank you.

    After hooking up the purple wire to the purple wire on the stereo, do you just run it to the backup light wire and hook it up there. Does it need to be hooked up to the camera itself.

    My unit is installed to an Android unit for a 2012 Sonata. Taking power for cam directly from reverse light. Triggering the head unit with #8 from the drivers kick panel. Camera works fine in reverse but stays triggered for some reason while the engine is running in any other gear,but cam powers off, so there's an error screen that overrides the home screen every time, unless you shut the engine off and leave the accessory on, which brings the home screen back up. I feel like this is a software issue as the menu that pops up for the camera error screen is a settings menu for a 360 cam system, but you can't select anything.
    I'm not using the RCA red wires at all, as per your video.
    Checked power on both the reverse and the trigger wire...both cut off power out of reverse,so I'm not sure why the head unit still thinks there's a signal to pull.
    Any ideas?

Do I put the camera wire into the brake light plug or have it come off the brake light wire (so it like teed in?) or is the wire complete swapped out for the camera trigger wire??

      When that white reverse light comes on that is the trigger. Find the wire that makes that white light come on and splice/tsection it. The reason he calls it the brake light is because the reverse light is often where the brake light housing is.

    I'm really missing something here... I have the camera hooked up, and I can manually get it to fire. But it isn't making my radio switch over. That setting is turned on ("Reverse interrupt" on my JVC), but no worky. I've tried to tap in up front, tap in in the back. Is there a different wire than the wire I used for power to the camera? That's already hooked to the reverse lights. Put it in reverse, camera comes on. Take it out of reverse, blue screen with "no input", so I have that part correct. This last time, I just tapped into the same power wire that I used for my power to the camera. I'm connected to the red wire. Is there truly something different I need to connect to? Or since I already have the power tapped in, do I need to do the other side?

      4runners are rough because of the motorized glass. On the left side of the trunk hatch, there’s a small little channel you can feed a wire grabber for fish wire. It’s going to take a couple of tries, but you can get it in there. But you have to make sure you do not interfere with the glass otherwise it will snap that wire
