      And he has... and he’s currently driving for Arrow McLaren SP, a team that has been proving itself to be a threat to the Big Three IndyCar teams.
      He just won Rookie of the Year honors for the Indy 500.

      Last Sunday, my wife and I felt like his pit crew let him down on that last pitstop,then Newgarden edged him out of the pits.
      Wish there wasn't a yellow,would have been a very interesting ending🤔

    How bout that Pato? Made fast six within 3 days of ever driving an Indycar. What a high that must have been! I speak with a little experience. My first race at Sears I finished last. Then I got some coaching and was seventh on the grid the next race. Boy was I stoked!

    I wonder why was he using 1st gear while exiting the chicanes and the hairpins... he had to wait too much before applying full power. Thanks again for another awesome visor cam video!

    • @fordfocusonme
      @fordfocusonme 5 лет назад +4

      Usually staying in lower gears going around chicanes and hairpins will allow the car to hit higher RPMS when accelerating. I bet you he also get more torque to go right away and allows the turbo to spool at higher RPMs then in higher gears. The car does rev to 12,000 RPMS so I would imagine a lot of power is on top.

      I've driven this car in simulators and I found that first gear was actually quite usable, but I'm not sure if that is accurate or not 🤔

    • @Mcrisara
      @Mcrisara 5 лет назад

      Lower gears make the car turn better in low speed corners. That’s what I’d say but it could be so many different things. A live Q & A session would have been cool to ask Patricio questions like this!

    • @fordfocusonme
      @fordfocusonme 5 лет назад

      Yes they are but other things such as the shocks and dampers are not so that's where a lot of the "speed" is found.

      No tire warmers in Indycar, takes about two laps for the tires to get up to temp.

      Totally agree. Figured once the tires came up to temp it would get better. Didn't appear to.

    • @benlyda9781
      @benlyda9781 5 лет назад

      @@RodClinard he has a lot of push. He isnt able to get the car to turn in. He has to put too much input in exiting the corners as well so when he puts the power down it snaps and causes over steer.

  • @dallaskearns9752
    @dallaskearns9752 5 лет назад +17

    Not a good track. Laguna Seca is much better. Probably OK for the door slammers, but too featureless for an open wheel car.

    • @clubford33
      @clubford33 5 лет назад +26

      Dallas Kearns I guess you've never been on the track. Going up to the carousel blind at 155 does lead to boredom. Likewise an off camber turn two. Much more difficult track that Laguna and I've raced both many times. Not quite at these speeds.

    • @dylancotton2061
      @dylancotton2061 5 лет назад +5

      And Laguna Seca has more features? Mate it has one decent corner. The rest are fucking 90 degree right handers like you find on a tilkedrome

    • @AndyyCampbell
      @AndyyCampbell 5 лет назад +1

      I think both tracks are pretty poor for open wheel but Sonoma has more features than seca.

    • @clubford33
      @clubford33 5 лет назад

      Dylan Cotton turns 1,2,5,6,8,8a (corkscrew ), and 11 are left handlers. The corkscrew to turn ten is a ten story drop so have you ever even been there?

    • @dylancotton2061
      @dylancotton2061 5 лет назад

      @@clubford33 I meant left hand corners. And what happened the other day puts Laguna Seca even lower in my books. If that's a good track so is Sochi

    Sorry but Indylights drivers quality seems way off the likes of F1 ladder drivers... just notice how a F1 reject like Wickens has killed all rookies and most stablished drivers in Indycar...It really sounds awful to read all the injuries he suffered in the crash but I only worry about the spinal cord damage... GET WELL ROBERT!!!

    • @7ks45
      @7ks45 5 лет назад +17

      F1 reject... you do know he came through the Champ Car ladder before Europe, right?

    • @easleyrider
      @easleyrider 5 лет назад +10

      You must not follow racing much. Wickens came from the indycar ladder and then went to Europe and kicked ass. He’s thought of highly in Europe. That Max Chilton, and Ed Jones are really lighting the world on fire. Max Still can’t hack it in IndyCar despite making into glorious F1, where all but about 6 cars are talent lacking ride buyers. Jones went from Europe to lights, to Indycar and is doing mediocre on one of the top teams. I would put Colton Herta and Pato up against any f2 driver and they would be on par.

    • @xtlm
      @xtlm 5 лет назад +1

      F1 reject usually means they aren't rich kids though. Very very few get there without money and even if you have skill/money good luck finding a good ride.

    • @tacklefatkids
      @tacklefatkids 5 лет назад +1

      Nah Patricio is highly talented and quite honestly he will make it into IndyCar as a champion and future winner of the Indy 500. Forget the talent ladder that F1 has this is 10x different so the comparison you're bringing up is highly irrelevant plus Wickens was never a F1 reject mate.
