Sterling did work on Deion here. IMO he would've been the greatest if not one of the greatest WR ever had he never suffer that career ending injury in his prime. He deserves to be in the HOF.
Sharpe did so much work in the NFL over a short period of time. Its ridiculous that injury cut his career short. Even his brother Shannon Sharpe admitted he is 2nd to Sterling.
Deion and Woodson, as well. He also averaged 85 catches, 1,160 yds, 13.65 YPC, and 9TDs a season on top of that. When you only complete 7 seasons, you should be in the HOF(if those things can be said about you)! If he would have played a long career and did not get a ring, then--if he can beat Sanders and Woodson--it would not have been his fault! Although, they might have gotten 2 or more if had he not ended his career(the Denver SB game was a 1 possession game and so was the 49ers div playoff game in 98). So, who knows?!
Sterling Sharpe is a HALL OF FAMER in my eyes.. I've been preaching this for year's!! Sterling Sharpe's 7 year career was pretty special.. 5 Pro Bowls & 3 1st team ALL-PRO & won the TRIPLE CROWN.. Which is remarkable, competing with guy's like Jerry Rice, Andre Reed & Michael Irvin.. Jerry Rice & Sterling Sharpe dominated the WR position & were the only 2 WR'S to earn MVP votes during that 7 year streach run. Sterling Sharpe had more 1st Team ALL-PRO's, then, Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Reed & Tim Brown combined.. Let that sink in for a bit lol 112 game's/ 595 rec/ 8,134 yard's/ 65 TD'S/ Triple Crown/ 5 Pro Bowls- 3 1st Team ALL-PRO/ That's a HELLUVA career, especially the QB'S who were throwing to Sharpe at the beginning of his career, before Favre got there.. Sterling Sharpe had better numbers in his first 7 year's then Michael Irvin & Andre Reed, who are both HALL OF FAMERS.. My definition of a HALL OF FAMER, is ( Did you DOMINATE at your position during your career?? Were you Top 5 at your position in your career?? All of the answers were, YES!!! HE DID!!
When you factor in all the passing rule changes from '94 to now that have increased all the passing & receiving numbers by about 20% (or even more), Sterling Sharpe's career is almost identical to Calvin Johnson's. Calvin Johnson got in first ballot and Sharpe evidently has no chance in hell. Stupid. Really stupid.
I love when people see Deion Sanders match-up because then you'll realize that even "shutdown corners" still give up some catches and first downs during a game.
Lol did anybody see that the player Darrien Connor who made the late play actually hit his own teammate which was Deion Sanders? He was from Jackson State. I know it really doesn’t mean anything, but it seems like a random coincidence lol
This game, 10 days after Ron Wolf got hired as GM of the Packers. Went to go look at Favre in warmups and said to Packers President Bob Harlan in the Atlanta press box "If his arm is as good as it was coming out of college, we're gonna make a trade for him" Bob Harlan looked at the game sheet and said "who the heck is Brett Fav-or?"
I've said for years that Sterling Sharpe should be in the HOF. One of the greatest moments and memories was when Unc Shannon Sharpe gave his HOF Induction Speech and said that he was about to be inducted into the NFL HOF that said he was one of the greatest football players to ever play, but he couldn't understand how that was possible when he wasn't the best football player in his family. He then asked everyone who watches football and the HOF Voters to go back and look at his brothers stats the years he played before he had career ending neck injury, and compare his Stats against other Wide Receivers in the HOF, give him an honest look and they'd agree. It wasn't like he only played a few years before the injury, if I'm remembering correctly, he played 7 or 8 years and in each year he was either the best or 2cd best Receiver in the NFL and the other one was the GOAT Jerry Rice, and if everyone would compare their numbers against each other I think they'll be surprised. This has probably never been done, but I'm going to start a Petition for Sterling Sharpe saying that he should be in the HOF. I don't want it to be about popularity, so in the petition, I'm going to say that I don't want anyone to sign it until they do do their homework first. I'm going to first ask for all past, present, and future NFL Players, Coaches, Coordinator's, General Managers, Referees, Owners, and Employees, plus Fans of all ages, especially younger fans who were never blessed to be able to watch him play, or see the difference of how much the NFL and the game has changed for safety to first research his Stats, the Accolades, Awards, and Achievements that he was able to Accomplish, then compare what he did against what the GOAT Jerry Rice did during the same years, then take the same amount of years of every Receiver that's in the HOF and compare Sterling Sharpe's years against the best that the HOF Voters have voted in, and I wouldn't be surprised if Sterling is in the top 3-5 to ever play in the NFL. After everyone has done all of the boring homework, I ask that all of the special people mentioned above to have some fun by going back to watch him play, while also watching other HOF Receivers that the HOF Voters have already voted in, and acknowledged as the best Receiver's to have ever played. Young fans I especially ask you to watch highlights of Sterling Sharpe, other Receivers in the HOF, and please watch how much the NFL and the game has changed to make it safer, but it has also made it easier on the Offenses, especially on Quarterbacks and Receivers, then ask yourselves, what could Sterling Sharpe accomplish with the same amount of years in the NFL of today?(Off topic but young people who want to really see how the game of football was meant to be played, watch highlights from the 1970s of the Stealers vs Cowboys Super Bowls, watch the Defense of the Raiders and the Stealers when they were allowed to really hit the Quarterbacks and how they punished Receivers with brutal vicious hits, even when they didn't make the catch) Last, the Petition will ask that the HOF Voters to please do the same things and ask yourselves why isn't Sterling Sharpe already in the HOF? How has one of the best 3-5 Receivers that's ever put on a helmet to play the game of football been kept out for so long already?Yes, his career was cut short, but there was more than enough years to see his greatness, to consistently see him either be the best, or second best Receiver against the Greatest Receiver to ever play in the NFL and Sterling Sharpe was only getting better year after year. It's been too long already, we're not asking the HOF Voters to give Sterling Sharpe anything and he wouldn't want it that way. We ask that you as HOF Voters to please protect the integrity of the Game of Football, the NFL, and the HOF by finally showing your respect for his greatness, for what he earned on the field. Most Players, Coaches, and Fans have recognized him as one of the greatest for years and thought it was a travesty that he wasn't already in the HOF, so you're not going to be telling us anything we haven't known for years, you're just going to be holding up the integrity of the HOF Voters and the HOF, because every year that Sterling Sharpe has been shunned by the HOF Voters, has taken away from the legitimacy of the HOF and the respect that long-term NFL Fans had for the HOF Voters. I've brought each of my son's to the HOF separately over the years because I wanted to have that special experience with each of them, and it's been time to bring my youngest son for 5 years now, but we've agreed that we're not going to make that trip and spend all that money when it doesn't feel legit and feels tainted when in our opinion the 3rd greatest Receiver in the history of the NFL hasn't received the honor he's earned. I'm ashamed of myself because I've been making these statements for years without any action, but now it's time for action and starting an online Petition, which I should have done years ago, but just like many others, my lack of action to shine a light on this injustice, my faith in HOF Voters to do what's right, and just staying quiet hasn't helped to right the wrong, so I hope and Pray that this will. To Mr. Sterling Sharpe I ask for your forgiveness for not creating a Petition sooner, but it will be a Petition Online by Monday and I'm sure that you'll see by the number of signatures it gets, that you've been in the HOF as one of the greatest Receivers for years by the people. Now it's time for the HOF Voters to do the same. If they do everything that's asked, there's no rightful reason you should be denied. As soon as I Post the Online Petition, I'll let everyone know how to find it.
The starting quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons in 1991 was Chris Miller (who wore #12). 1991 was actually Chris Miller's lone pro-bowl season. Brett Favre's number in Atlanta was #4.
