Then she got up to go behind the microphone with her guitar. I was pleasantly surprised to know she was the act. Times were different then. Lowell & Linda Rondstadt performed together & were in love, all saying they were made for each other. Emmylou & Gram Parsons the same, were in love & were the perfect couple.
Where do I start? Little Feat defined our lives in college. On my 21st birthday we rocked out all night to an incredible rendition of Happy Birthday plus Dixie Chicken. I love the combination of incredible talent in this version of the iconic song.
Great song from my 20s when people loved each other and the main goal was to have a good time. With all the challenges we face as we crawl out of the Covid crisis, it would benefit everyone to hold each other's hand instead of become consumed with the negative. All these performers have a unique style that blend into an incredible tune that soothes the soul.

Classic Lowell G with his white overalls! - The year I graduated from High School I was drumming for a Southern Rock band and everyone loved Little Feat and LG with a passion!

Lowell George is one of the greats in rock and roll. His passing so early in his life and career is such a huge loss to music. George's music was incredibly special. No one, in my view, has come even close since his work with Little Feat.
First time I heard Little Feat was in 1973 maybe 74. Have been a fan ever since. Have their music on album, cassette, or cd's. Could have seen them with Lowell George but x-wife not want to go the concert. Lowell passed away a few months later, Could hear them all the time on the radio back in New York. One of the best bits of music and great folks playing that you will find. I love this jam and Lowell's singing.. Bonnie and EmmyLou make this an all-star show..
It's such a shame Lowell died in '79, feels like he was on the cusp of superstardom. I was born in '71 so a child of the '80s music scene & I can very easily imagine Lowell becoming a mega-star in the '80s like Mellencamp, Tom Petty, Billy Joel or Springsteen. He just had "it" ..that special magnetism that draws people's eyes & ears #RIPLegend #LittleFeat
My all time favourite band…never saw them live in Australia..but the video gives me some idea of what they would have been like live. Saw a band in Melbourne who reminded me of them..check ‘em out ‘Sweet Thing’. Keys, slide and lead guitar and great vocal and harmonies.
As a teen I was a Skynyrd freak, and after the plane crash, I bought Thanks, I'll Eat It Here...Lowell's masterpiece. I listened to it over and over. Then, not long after the release, he too was gone.
God, Emmylou Harris was a beauty queen in her day, as many of us so clearly remember. Lowell George had only two years to live when this was filmed, he never made it into the '80s. One of the real geniuses of rock'n'roll, right up there with Hendrix and Page.
They are just so amazing!!!!!!! I miss that man! 😥😪 So sad he is gone, but they still play great in concert. I've seen them a bunch of times. My favorite all time band! ❤️💞
I need to capture this golden moment from Midnight special. The show that was Midnight Special was a great performance venue back in the days of yore. This one is very special.
I remember this show! What an awesome video to have! Back from the day when there were multiple GREAT music concerts and such on late night Fridays and Saturdays! Wish they were still a thing!
I saw Little Feat at a free concert at the Arch in St. Louis a few years ago, but had listened for years. Working on the Mississippi river, every time we went by the bright lights of Memphis, I imagined the Commodore.
Two gals who have continued to tour the country bring good music to everyone. They play for hours after everyone else is pooped. They are both like living dynamos and a tribute to professional musicians.
I smoked some weed with Kenny Gradney, Sam Clayton, and Bill Payne under the interstate overpass behind Boutwell Auditorium in B'ham Alabama in 1977 before Little Feat put on a rock'in show. A memory that will last a lifetime. God bless Lowell George for what he brought to American R&R.
I saw Little Feat and Bonnie Raitt in Jackson Ms. on this 1977 tour. One of the best shows I have ever seen because Lowell George was on fire that night. He came on stage with Bonnie for about 20 minutes and played. Bonnie came on for Little Feat's 30 minute encore and they had a duel slide guitar battle that was SO GOOD. Just a great show.
+1stSaintsFan Lowell taught her to play the slide.. Just listen to anything she plays slide on, and you can hear Lowell. It's all we have left of him now!. His slide and voice, and timing, and arrangements are what made Little Feat the incredible band they were. Not to disparage Richie, Payne and the rest of the band members, but they just couldn't make Little Feat what it was when George was in front!
Have to disagree - Bonnie was playing long before she met Lowell (at least I think). Bonnie was playing with a long list of blues greats when she was just a teenager ....
I saw a little feat the first time they played in the DC area along with Bonnie Raitt at PG community college a free show. The next night I saw the show in DC. I never missed little feet after that every show they played in DC . When they played seven nights two shows each night I was at all of those shows. It was a sad sad day for the musical world when Lowell George died. Little feat was never the same just like the Dead would never the same after Jerry died. Yes I followed Bonnie Raitt and Emmylou Harris for all these years and all they've done besides putting out great music he's gotten more beautiful.
Today, June 29, 2019, makes 40 years that we lost the great Lowell George. Little Feat lost that monster talent and funkiness that he brought to this great band... RIP, Lowell (and Richie Hayward).
Cool thing is, Emmylou Harris is still friends with Little Feat all these years later. I saw them in 2009 playing at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass fest, and I'm pretty sure it was Emmylou who got them into that gig. They actually played at the same time as her on a different stage, and at one point they urged the crowd to make a lot of noise so the people over at Emmylou's concert could hear us. The Feat is still badass and still out there doing great jam music.
Jackson was a big fan of Lowell George and a good friend to. He mentioned Little Feat in an interview I read and out of curiosity I went and bought the Live album. I wore it out playing it night and day. Saw them in concert too and were fantastic
Lord - Emmylou and Bonnie are GORGEOUS!
I just love this 100%, but every time I watch it, I think, how much better it would have been if Emmylou and Bonnie's mic was on. I'm cryin' now.
too true. they look so young and talented but i could not hear a thing from them. nothing.
Does the tech exist that can extract from the recording to amplify Emmylou & Bonnie's voices?
Right? and to see Emmylou clog dancing to it would be awesome
It would be even better if the girls had 2 mikes and a sound mixer doing his job.
I thought that I went deaf.
Most criminally underrated band in Rock n' Roll
In '78 Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) was asked who is the greatest band (at that time); he said LITTLE FEAT!!! High praise & very true!
yes, but
not underrated by any dancer who has seen them live
Not in my circles.
AGREED SO ARGUABLY CRIMINALLY LITERALLY SHOCKINGLY OVERRATED
Lowell was insanely talented and unfortunately dead way too young I believed that he and Bonnie would have married and can you imagine the children!
I just saw and felt my momma there.
Thanks Girls. 🎉
used to love staying up to watch midnight special. ✌

She's so genuine. Mary Chapin Carpenter is a little cool since she got 'GROUPIES'. But enjoyed more than one chat with her at KramerBooks in DC.

I was wondering why they skipped the second verse & chorus...
@@tomdouthat3481Because they were performing on national tv so there were time restraints.

Only one Lowell George and Little Feat. That's rock and roll folks. That's rock and roll.

Lowell & Linda Rondstadt performed together & were in love, all saying they were made for each other. Emmylou & Gram Parsons the same, were in love & were the perfect couple.

I have loved them since I was a tike
Great memories on my 21th birthday when a house band rocked this song with "Happy Birthday" .....margaritas flowing and no end to the fun times.

Lowell had the most beautiful phrasing in his voice. And man he could play that axe. Such a talent, always remembered

I'd say he's the most underrated gitar man ever. Didn't have A Look.
Great *southern Half-time beat* classic and with 2 special guest great female singers.
This is Amazing! LOVE IT! Old School Baby🎸❤🌸🙌
This was one of favorite memories of Midnight Special
The girls look great. Esp. Bonnie. I had no idea. Wish we could hear them sing on this.
