    What a fantastic analysis of her Spanish. I remember moving to New York and really struggling to understand Dominicans and Puerto Ricans at first. It took me a while to get to grips with their accents, idioms and sayings. Both cultures are expressive and have a wonderful way of using the Spanish language.

    • @CasaSpanish

      Thank you! Yes, that's when we realise language IS culture. Can you make the difference between Dominican and Puerto Rican now? :)

      I tell my wife Dominican Spanish to us Mexican Americans is like Jamaican English to white Americans. It has that "twang" to it.

    Correction..I was born in Dominican republic (la romana)...and he said when she says (de que yo toy hablando) it was incorrect and she should of said decir but in the Dominican republic decir y hablar is the same thing so she was correct

      I think he was referring to the slang way in which she used hablar. The proper way would have been to say "que yo estoy diciendo" vs. "de que yo estoy hablando." While both hablar and decir mean to talk or to speak, one could be interpreted as "what am I talking about" vs. "what am I referring to." It's all about context.

      I didn't know that there was this distinction in Spanish. The equivalent words in Portuguese (falar X dizer) also have the same meaning. I'm currently trying to improve my Spanish.

    • @SaintRoix
      @SaintRoix Месяц назад

      Hablar is like "talk" Decir is like "to say" so technically Cardi says "what am I talking about" vs "what am I saying" ... either way it's understandable in this instance I wouldn't necessarily say it's "wrong" per se but hm idk maybe a bit of a nit pick

    I may be wrong but when she said cafecito I believe she was actually referring to Cuban style espresso coffee, not necessarily coffee of diminutive size .
    Espresso brewed in mocha pot , unrefined sugar and small amount of espresso whipped into foam and poured together in a small espresso cup.
