I followed a 3D tutorial and had trouble with rendering so I upgraded to a new laptop 64gb RAM an 16gb Video Memory. Glad I did now. Love your tutorials and voice and nice to see your face.
I couldn’t find the right adjectives to describe this tutorial , any adjective is nothing to say how great this tutorial is. I do thank you very much !
Thank you! Another great video! I've been working with Adobe software for many decades and had no idea how much it has evolved over the years. Pure magic! Thanks again!
I like seeing who is teaching me, so thanks for adding yourself in. Good to see your face. I don't have Dn in my CC at work, apparently because we are still on Windows 7. Can't wait to get home and try out DN.
Hello! Great video. I have a question: the only way I am able to have my base color appear on my shape is if I adjust the glow. How can I adjust color without having to do this?
Thank you for this tutorial! The question that remains for me is ; Why are they splitting it up? What should i use ? Dimension? Photoshop 3d? The latter I've tried, but it usually just crashes my pc. If you use it for compositing, which would you use?
great tutorial! 1 quick question. not all my scene layers not showing up in adobe dimension like yours. i only have properties. not interior, shape, texture, etc... do you happen to know why? thanks!
I think that I am starting to "get" the purpose of Dn, now: Dn allows us to fabricate a 3D object, position and size it as desired, and render it into 2D for compositing in Ps, right? Thank you, Jesús!
Yeah, pretty much. The way Adobe describes it officially is as "making it easy for graphic designers to create high-quality, photorealistic 3D images".
I like my summary better, because when we bring the output of Dn into Ps, it is no longer a 3D object! (That had me confused, until I watched your tutorial, Jesús! 😊) We have, in fact, produced a 2D image, right?
Cool tutorial. I wanted to position an artwork on a tube in 360°, but for some reason there is a no-texture part on the model. I really don't know how that's supposed to work. Any ideas?
What 3D modeling program would you recommend I use if I want to modify packaging models I find online? ex: remove or add a handle on a bag, etc. Is there an easy, intuitive program that would allow me to make minor 3D corrections on my models before I use them in dimension? I'm trying to learn Silo right now but the keyboard shortcuts are completely different than those of Adobe's and it's throwing me off
When I open up Dimension I don't have the grid on the page. Also, I move the sphere over, it says loading, but never see it. First day opening it lol Great start.
OORVOKKI here's several ideas about which features of Photoshop to learn first The selection feature Removal of unwanted objects Layers (I read about these and more on Trevs Photo Blueprint site )
Great video, Jesus. Thank you. I'm trying to figure out whether Dimension can be used for architectural drawing (I'm looking for a replacement app for SketchUp). To work on engineering/architectural objects, there would need to be a push/pull function to change the dimensions or coordinates of surface planes. You'd need to be able to 'punch' a hole in surfaces (like if you wanted a pipe to pass through the object) and so on. I don't see those functions in Dimension (so far). What's your opinion on its value for architectural/engineering drawing?
Great tutorial. Dimension could have been very useful to me, but it won't run on my 2012 MacPro Tower that I purchased new 4 years ago. Not going to buy a new desktop just to run one app. It does launch on my 2015 MacBook Pro, but rendering is too processor intensive on that machine.
Extremely interesting. Thanks. Just one thing... why is this a separate program?? What I mean is (and please correct me if I am wrong): Ds is basically a subset of Ps's 3d Workspace with a better interface. Or: Everything you can do in Ds you can do in Ps (and a (very) little more). So why not finally make the 3d Workspace in PS more Userfriendly. (Btw. Have to check if Ds is even included in the Photography plan; otherwise it makes some sense) ...Not to forget Dreamweaver. I just dont consider it because it defiantly is not part of my subscription and maybe to powerful for what I want to do. Just asking because I am wondering if I should dive into Ds or better my Ps 3d skills. P.S. A nice feature would be if the Coud would not only be for storage but if you could send your 3d stuff to the cloud and have it rendered by a much faster Computer.....
This is a compositing 3D app. Photoshop can do the same but it has a lot more control and it is more complex. Think of Lightroom and Photoshop. In terms of editing, Photoshop can do everything Lightroom can, but Lightroom offers a more limited and intuitive workflow for a specific task. Those who want al the control and ability to do more have to Photoshop. Dimension sort of does the same, it makes it easy to composite 3D models into 2D images. If you want overall control, then use Photoshop. Dimension is not included in the Photography plan. This is a tool intended for designers, not Photographers.
Thanks, but how do I select just one side of the box? I need to place a logo just on one side. I'm using the magic wand and I've been trying from tiny to large parameters, but the only part of the box I can select individually is the top of the box!
Hi' Sir, I am a designer but after watching this tutorial.... I immediately subscribe because this was very helpful for me. Thanks a lot. May allah bless upon you and give Hidaya also to all of us. thanks again.
hi, can somebody tell me, ¿How can I order dimension to use my video card?, it is rendering only with the processor and I don't see where to tell it to use the video card, and at the check it tells me that I exceed all the recommended values
Hi Jesus, Thanks for at great tutorial. I hope you know enough to help me with my Dimension problem :-) I'm trying to apply decal to all 6 sides of a box (well 5, as the bottom isn't important). The problem is that the decal continues on the other sides. I succeeded to apply 2 different decal 2 front and right side of the box, but when I want to apply to the top, the side is replaced also. It's the "cube" from Adobe Dimension that I'm using. Can you help with answers regarding if it's possible to do this (apply different designs to all 6 sides of the box). Also I'm looking for the possibility to type in the measurements myself of the heigh, width and depth of the box. am I missing something or is that just not possible to do? Thanks SO MUCH for your time :-)
Hi! I hope you found the answer to your problem, but if you haven't, Dimension now has a new version that allows you to add multiple decals independent of each other by dragging and dropping them onto a surface. This was not possible earlier, and I imagine that the way you managed to get two of them was by using an image for the base color and applying a decal on top. Measurements are not a possibility yet, but you can enter in the scale manually for X, Y, and Z which will change the relative width, height and depth of the box. Enjoy!
Hi! Thank you for the video's they are very useful. I have a black and white logo that I vectorised in illustrator, however it still distorts when shrinking in photoshop. Ive tried different and different methods for export and it still pixelates. I want to put the logo on a dimension piece and its imports in very big and I have to shrink it to a very small size and guess what it pixelates horribly!. I think it may be to do with file sizes and would really appreciate it if you could tell me how to save a logo - what pixels proportions etc or how to get the vector image to work as a vector image anything!!!! would be very helpful. The forums do not have the answer.
why my dimension show nothing when i open my .dn file or even create a new project although yesterday I still work normally with it? Please reply me soon, i have took nearly 9 hours to make my project an i need to fix something before time runs out!!!
1 question, to get more materials you are dependent of ADOBE CLOUD, or you can put in your hown materials, also you know if there is some site (outside adobe) where ppl just share materials for DIMENSION? Also you can't change the form of the objects, like in ZBRUSH for ex? Thx!
They store 3D model info. Like meshes. materials, etc. You can download free 3D models from TurboSquid (Obj) and they will have the .mdl files. Of course, Adobe Stock them has them as well. from www.turbosquid.com/Search/Index.cfm?keyword=&file_type=119&max_price=0&min_price=0
All very clever stuff, but if you are a business and base all of your work around Adobe CC products, what happens if you want to jump ship and stop paying rent to Adobe ? Do you lose your work or is it transferable to an alternative programme ?
When I tried it -- following along with your tutorial, Jesús -- and then clicked on "Open in Photoshop", Dn opened up PsCs6, rather than PsCC2018. I have both versions of Ps, but I only use PsCC2018 these days. Why did Dn choose PsCS6 rather than PsCC2018? I could not find a relevant option in Dn's Preferences ... How can I tell Dn to always open my new object in PsCC2018?
Hmmm.... I'm not really sure. Try asking in the Dimension Forum at Adobe. I have not encountered that problem. forums.adobe.com/community/dimension/content
Thanx, for the suggestion and the link, Jesús -- I have taken your suggestion and posted my question in the Dn Forum. Should I post any replies here, in case anyone else has the same question?

Special "as always". I'M REALLY GLAD THAT I SUBBED LONG TIME AGO! thank you so much.
You're welcome, Luca!
I am really enjoying learning how to use dimension. I have a problem and not sure what I did wrong. My imported 3D text is blurry. Can you help me/
Which version of Photoshop are you using???
Can you import models from blender to dimension
Thank you for introducing this beautiful little crash course sir.....
Another winner! Thanks, JR!
Thank you, Mike!
can i do this on cc 2015
Can this be used in Photoshop CS6 Extended?
Great tutorial!
Is there option to change the export page size? Like for example I want to export to a bigger image resolution like 3000x4000pixel?
I think you have to resize the art board to the size you want then go to render.
Thanks a lot JR; clear, concise and surprisingly comprehensive! 👏
You're welcome, R Garlin!
Hello! Great video. I have a question: the only way I am able to have my base color appear on my shape is if I adjust the glow. How can I adjust color without having to do this?
softs it was really confusing but thanks to you I've gotten more professional at it!! ✌
This was super helpful, thank you!

Nice tutorial but I'm a little confused, do you just use the already made models or can you make your own using Dimension?
Dimension is a compositing tool. It does not have modeling capabilities
Thank you
Can you put it in after effects as a 3D model?
would you have websites you advise for free 3D models on Adobe Dimension ?
Check out www.turbosquid.com/ and filter by free. Use the OBJ download.
But remember, they are free for a reason.
and i wish you good luck with your future endeavors ❤

Can you animate a360 view in dimension?
Wow, unbelievable!!!
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us.
You're welcome, Kochavi!

Thanks for your video
Thank you for your help

Very Goodie Goodie, God Bless You, Great Person You are

Thank you so much for doing this.

this is completely different software than photoshop. It would not work well as the same program.

Luigi, depends on how the box was created. I think that the default cube won't let you select one face. But you can use the decal feature.
Is it very interesting, thank you very much, it is a very good idea to see you in video...
Thank you, Árpád!
