As a backpacker who has yet to go west of the Mississippi, this makes me want to hop on a plane tonight. Loved the video, and LOVE Oceans by John Butler!
Well what are you waiting for? Plan your trip, hop on that plane and BAM you'll be in the Rockies. Good luck my friend. The mountains here are incredible. I have another trip planned this week in Rocky Mountain National Park. John Butler is pretty amazing Indeed, Pretty amazing live. -Andy
That area is ridiculously beautiful. It looked like the wildlife put on a good show for you two. Your camera has amazing zoom. I was blown away when you zoomed out from those people way up high at 11:44. That shot really put everything in perspective. Thanks for sharing the views and bringing us along. - Chris
Sierra Trading Post We couldn't believe at how much wild life there was. We also saw a family of marmots about 100 yards north of our camp spot, I forgot to put it in the video tho. The zoom is pretty incredible, especially when you see it on the computer screen. Thanks for watching Chris! Don't foget to include me in on the Longs Peak Summit end of Aug. :) -Andy
Thanks for the great video. One of my friends just texted me that he was at Blue Lakes Pass. So I pulled up your video to see what he was doing. Thanks for the filming and the crazy wildlife and weather. Safe travels.
Nice buddy and thanks for sharing the video! Glad you got to go out again. I'm planning my first solo overnighter next weekend in the Mount Evans Wilderness. Wife is staying at home...lol. Cheers! Oh and happy anniversary :)
inspireAson Ha, awesome! That's the trail I plan on taking. Towards Echo Lake Campground but I will camp somewhere off trail. Beartrack Lake #43 & Beaver Meadows #44 are great too but access to Beartracks Lake is still not possible due to downed trees.
Mt Sneffles is a walk-up. Not a bad climb and the view is magnificent. Enjoyed the video. By the way, I shot the photo of the cinnamon phase black bear by my ID on the way back down from the lower blue lake. It was also tagged, probably the same one.
Thanks for the video. I watched this before my trip out there. Wanted to backpack like you but it ended up being a dayhike. Probably the most amazing place I've seen. Did it in June and only made it only to the lower Blue Lake about a foot of snow up there. The lake was half frozen, half melted. Cool.
My girlfriend and I did the same trail about a month ago. Incredibly beautiful, my first backpacking trip in Colorado since I moved here. Seemed like the wildlife was a little bit more present for you, we only saw a couple of deer. Thanks for a great video! Maybe I'll see you on the trail sometime.
You folks find some awesome backpacking trips. Thanks for the sharing.... I imagine you kept Barkley on a tether when you came across those grizzlies? He's a terrific pooch!
+Gary Bowen Thanks for watching Gary, Colorado sure has a lot of mountains to explore. Barkley was put on the leash when we saw the bear but he's typically by our sides whenever we are hiking. _Andy
You're videos are pretty awesome man, I've seen quite a few and commented on some but this one definitely has some spectacular scenery, I would love to make it out to Colorado one of these days. I know a guy who lives out there now I knew him when we lived in Scotland might have to go visit. Keep on hiking!
Awesome video. Best one I have found of the Blue Lakes. I will be hiking it next month. Is the Blue Lake Pass trail marked well? I think a couple trails peel off from the Lower Lake?
Thanks for watching! The trail to the lake is very well marked as well as up to the pass. You're going to love the lake, it's pretty damn amazing! -Andy
Great video! Planning an overnight trip in early to mid July. Your campsite looked awesome! How many other campsites by the lower lake did you see? Don't want to arrive and not have a place to camp. Thanks!
I'm going August 4th. Can't wait. It's our 20th anniversary. Hard to decide if we will camp at the lower blue lake or the overview of the lower blue lake. I'm leaning toward the latter. Never camped in bear country. My wife's nervous.
steven enders take bear spray with you and big hunting knife, sharpen some long, thick sticks to a piercing point. Might not need them, but will give you some peace of mind. Also, take some cord and tie your food to a branch on a tree well away from your camp. I haven’t read of any bear attacks in that area. You’ll be fine
I've really been wanting to hike this trail! You should hike the Conundrum Hot Springs Trail. Even though it is a pretty long hike, my brother and I did it this summer and it was extremely beautiful and there are great natural hot springs at the top!
Hey, awesome videos. I've been watching them all this weekend. Still few more to go! Haha. I have a question, do you have to book these campsites that you visit beforehand? Or do you find a good spot and just camp in it? I live in East Coast of Canada and this lake looks like Lake Louise in Banff and I wanna go there so bad. And now this place is on the list too! So if I wanna visit, do I need to register for a specific campsite at a specific day? Thanks.
+Bader Kanawati Hey thanks for watching! As for the camp spots at Blue Lakes they are all primitive spots so just find a spot and throw your tent or hammock up, also free. Enjoy the other videos. Andy

We just got back from a backpacking trip in Mt Evans wilderness. It's a great place to explore. Have fun! :) - Chris
inspireAson What trail did you take?
We took the Captain Mtn Trail. (no. 46). The trail was pretty overgrown, but it was a great place to hike. - Chris

-Andy
What a gorgeous place. The San Juans are one of finest areas in Colorado. Glad you guys made it out there and enjoyed the trip. Cheers.
They are pretty unreal, I can't wait to go back. Next time I would like to bring a fishing pole and try and catch some dinner.
-Andy

You had such a good time! I plan on moving to that state in the future. You have given me good ideas on where I can explore. Thanks.
There are a ton of places to explore my friend! Good luck.

+Isaac Ruthen This has probably my favorite trip so far in Colorado. The lakes color was just unreal. Hope you guys enjoyed as much as we did.

Andy
Great video by the way. Would love to move to Colorado and this is the reason why.
Majestictombstone That is the reason why we moved, it's pretty unreal.
-Andy
I just love my hubba hubba! I live in Loveland Colorado and you can test all weather on it in one day
The weather here is pretty bipolar but it makes it exciting for sure.

***** Fantastic! Thanks for the reply. Also, any problems getting to the trail head in a car? I'm leaving the jeep at home

Ashley Bryant I hear those springs are pretty awesome. I'll have to go check it out some time.
-Andy
Awesome location to backpack and I like the tent lights. How far are you from this location. Bob
uptrail71 The lights are great and give off a great ambiance. I live in Denver, and Telluride is about 5 - 6 hour drive. Thanks for watching!
-Andy
Have you ever thought about thru hiking the Appalachian trail, PCT, or the continental divide trail?
I would love to do a thru hike one day! This summer I plan to do some of the CDT.
-Andy
***** The JMT sounds like a great option! I need to plan a 1 week trip first and see how the goes. I imagine it would be quite peaceful.

***** wow, that makes me want to go there now instead of Banff where you need to do tons of things to find a specific spot!
Thank you!
Awesome job on the video. We will be in Telluride early September and plan to do this hike. Looks beautiful! Did you use a GoPro?
whats that on the bears ear?
+k az It's a bear tag, most likely to keep track of the bear.
Andy
what kind of dog is that?
mattgsteezy Barkley is a Boxer Lab mix.
