Slightly late but I decided to extend this by an extra three minutes today bc I simply wasn't able to fit in all of my fave moments. I'm still missing SO MANY QUOTES AND SCENES that I wanted to include. To truly do them justice would require a video that was hours long tbh.
Lots and lots of parallels (currently rewatching the early seasons if it isn't obvious) bc I don't like editing their relationship in its linear progression bc s7 Buffy/Giles breaks my heart.
Can you believe in early s6, she joked that he could be her "absentee father" and then this idiot just upped and walked out of her life????? I--

A watcher trains a slayer to battle and die... until Giles. He trained Buffy to be a slayer but wanted more than anything, that she live a good life and grow as a person, not just a slayer. He was the father that was never there and you know he loved her more than anything else in his life, imo. Anthony and Sarah were unbelievably amazing together and I love watching them perform with each other.
This made me tear up giles was always a father to her when buffy needed one most you captured their relationship the ups and downs

I just finished a series rewatch and came looking for Buffy/Giles vids, and I have to say, this is the best one I've seen out there! Their dynamic is my favorite among all the characters. Their relationship is almost understated in a way but runs so deep, and Anthony Head and SMG are my favorite actors of the main cast- every time they are on screen together it feels so believable as a father/daughter dynamic. Thanks for capturing the essence of it in all of its beautiful complexity so I don't have to watch all 144 episodes over all the time!

Im so glad you included part of the comics. Their reunion in the comics hit me more than all the other times they reconciled on the show.
That part of the comics was perfect. And I really loved their last hug bc I'd really been missing older Giles, and placing this in the same one with her actual dad letting her down once more just reinforced how Giles was always a real father to her.
Im a little late finding this, but its amazing! Also can't get over the fact that when I look at Giles all I see is Uther Pendragon from Merlin 😂

This is so nice video for Buffy & Giles, u can really see the tandem of a father and daughter moment. The care the love and all it's all there, Giles is the one who is making Buffy feel a father figure that. Same as Buffy to Giles a daughter figure like that they are so cute together as in 😍😍😍💕💕

Season 7 was indeed odd and not so giles, but i like to think of it as a normal phase in a father/daughter relationship,with its ups and downs, not always happy moments and support to the full, sometimes they fight, have a disagreement, different perspectives, but by the end they still are close and end up forgiving and forgetting all those nasty quarrels....
I loved your video, i think i'll be watching it from now on at least once a week :)

I love love love them soo much and i love how you portrayed their relationship with all the ups and downs, BTVS is my favorite show because of how real and complex the characters and relationships are, so i completely understand that it would take hours to show their entire relationship and how special it is, but i think you did a stunning job in capturing it all in this video!!

In fact, in the classical world, you'd address a teacher as "dad"; not as "professor" or "instructor" or "teacher"; so it fits that he'd be paternal towards her, but that also means demanding certain standards from her all the while.

I'm thinking paint it black by ciara, devil with in, 7 devil by digital daggers, our so cold. Going down fighting by Phlotilla, or alive by Sia, silence by Marshmallow. I would love to see those.

Did Giles die?
Not on the television series, but he was briefly killed off in the comics from s8 onwards until being revived later!
Eventually, as the comic seasons progressed, yes, but then he came back, however as a twelve-year-old kid; and he had all sorts of weird adventures. To me they'd be completely enviable: his adventures as a kid- it would be the break that would, quite literally, save my soul: going backwards in time to change how my life has already turned out, as it often is feared by me that thanks to my mess-ups that my end-run state-of-being is set in stone, and not one I'd ever want, but one I would've ensured by being lax in my studies in the past decades of my life.
