    "He crashed into her bedroom with a chariot, surrounded by lightning and also chucked a literal spear made of lightning at her. She died of fright." No, bestie. I think she got vaporized. You know, from having lightning thrown at her by a deity.
    Edit: this is in reference to the quote by Pseudo-Apollodorus, himself. I'm aware Jake added in that she was vaporized.
    Edit 2: Also, we know how Zeus "courted" Hera. And it wasn't like that. He had to trick her into marrying him, after he forced himself on her. He turned into a cuckoo and pretended to need help. She took him in her arms, he turned back and...yeah. She married him to avoid the shame of having lost her virginity out of marriage. It was a big deal, in Classical Greece and she was the goddess of marriage, after all.

      Could you give a source for it?
      I remember the myth, but I don't remember the part of Zeus actually forcing himself on her.
      It wouldn't surprise me if it did happen though, but with the greeks having different conception of consent than us and leaving us with sometime lacking details, it can be hard to tell what's factually a r*pe committed by Zeus (Tricking Alcmene into thinking he was her husband) and what's just us interpreting it as such (Turning into a rain of gold to get into Danaë's cell and then... Maybe seducing her? Maybe Forcing himself on her?)

    • @acehardware2823
      @acehardware2823 Год назад +2

      @Derkosson I doubt Zeus actually forced himself on Hera, and Hera felt shame for that because, contrary to what most people think, Zeus and Hera do care for each other.

    I've always been partial to the theory that every greek city state would want their founder/hero king to have divine right to rule, and having their backstory involve Zeus being their father works better for that. After all, being the son of Hephaistos is cool, but doesn't make you uniquely qualified to be king (though you will probably have less hubris, tragedy, and murder in your life compared to the average Zeus offspring).

    • @cookieoutrage
      @cookieoutrage Год назад +15

      Those are somewhat true, since you can see that liniages of kingdoms where traced by divine rule, case and point Hercules with Thebes and the children of Harmonia as the Rulers of Sparta. However most of the other gods were more of an origin for the cult of their own worship than they were to justify the lineage of someone. That's why myths like the story of Apollo on Delphi and the myth of Demeter founding her cult are more widespread than say the lineage of the kings of micenea, Ithaca or other city states

    Angelos, Arges, Eleutheria, and Enyo are Hera's lesser known daughters. Sometimes Eris is said to be Zeus and Hera's daughter but more likely Nyx's daughters. But yeah overall Hera's kids are lesser known than the bastards especially since they are girls and wouldn't be able to inherit and both sons she produce are kind of inadequate in Zeus' eyes.

    6:34 theory: the reason why Apollo replace Helios because of Zeus's arrogance and hatred of Titans. Helios sided with Zeus during the Titan war só unlike Pontus and Tarturus got replace by Poisendon and Hades respectually as Gods of Sea and Underword Helios was aloud to keep his Job but after Apollo Join the 12 Olimpus he got the fame as god of the Sun because he is the king of gods spoiled ritch kid. The reason is because those Hélios is like Gaia and Uranus he is the Sun plus Hélios beign the god of the Sun is Very important for two stories that beign the kidnaping of Persefone and the afair of Ares and Afrodite (all versions i read makes preaty clear it's Hélios) both of whitch happen with all 12 olimpian Gods (including Apollo) are in they place

    Let’s go into the Percy Jackson universe real quick. This means Percy is Annabeth’s first cousin once removed. Not very closely related but enough to concern me. Now let’s think about Nico who has a crush on his cousin. Aaaand yeh

    It’s probably for the best we don’t know how many kids Zeus has, just more people to suffer Hera’s wrath. Great design on Hebe btw

    Did you know that people actually had pocket sundials? I thought this was just a humor used in cartoons set way back when, but they actually existed, according to the first tab on google that I didn't click on. A fitting possible fact considering the sponsor

    Since there is no story of Helios giving his chariot to Apollo, so in the world where Apollo is the sun god, there is no Helios. Thus, the world was literaly without a Sun until Apollo was born?
    Apollo as the sun god is more popular today than in the ancient world actually. Even Ovid who calls Apollo the Sun also calls the Sun a titan, or the son of Hyperion, etc, refering to Helios. Apollo was the god of the day time because he delivired the light prophecies (his cousin Hecate delivered the shadowy prophecies from necromancy or from ghost), this is why it was easy to mistake him for the sun god, altrough Helios/Sol was never forgotten even in Roman times.
