- Welcome back to Boxing After Dark! In today's video, we revisit a classic showdown featuring Adrien Broner against Shawn Porter. With Broner seeking redemption following his recent performance against Marcos Maidana, this bout became a pivotal moment, a must-win for the talented boxer looking to reclaim his prominence in the ring.
This was the last time Adrian Bronner had anything that even resembled focus.
I honestly wonder if Floyd gave up on him. He should point out that the philly shell only works for those who have the focus to dismantle opponents slowly. Looks like he only took the low output lesson from it.
@@OrneryMurderWeasel He absolutely distanced himself from adrian as soon as the first signs of him spirely out of control. Floyd doesn't allow that around him. You don't get to fifty wins with zero losses by allowing crazy into your life.

Great example of discipline/humbleness Vs. Lack of it/Ego
Broner was the more talented of the two but against Elite level he usually was soundly beaten.
Porter, less gifted, but worked harder and stayed in the gym, giving every elite fighter he faced hell Win or Lose.
In a matchup against each other you see flashes of Broners Talent advantage, but Porter as usual, wanting it more..working harder.
Um he wasn’t more talented then porter everyone thought that because he was co signed by mayweather lol. He always been a c level fighter

1:36 Broner was indeed a hard hitter. Everyone praised his punching power, such as pacquiao and maidana. But he hasn't had enough volume to destroy totally his opponents

Broner disrespected the sport, his opponents, the fans. Everyone involved in boxing and his own talent. He had no solid base, and apparently no one around him to keep him in check. Reminds me of Allen Iverson, an incredible basketball talent, but was broke after making millions because he surrounded himself with hangers on spending his money instead of friends and family caring about him.
Coaches of young athletes should hold Broner up as an example of what an ego can do.
Whats sad is Broner was really really really talanted. If dude was more humble and not so worried about people seeing his ego and persona he would be up there with Mayweather. Just never took it seriously 100%. What a waste

Broner considers himself much better than he actually is. I think most true boxing fans took great delight in Maidana spanking him, I certainly did. Porter outworked him and deserved the decision.

Yeah if he was willing to walk potter down more he probably could have ,but I think its one of those things ,he started fighting so much like floyd when he wasn't instead of developing his own style,potter was leaving himself way too open for hooks and leading with his head

I remember back when people actually believed the hype and thought he was going to be the next Mayweather. He hadn't fought any big names and then won a disputed split decision against Malinaggi. I knew right then he wasn't the real deal.
He looked good when he was building his rep, unfortunately it went to his head and his ego destroyed him.
He was just too small for 147 he should’ve went to 140 he skipped that division for some reason (I think anyway)

I think Broner had talent...his ego got in the way, how he thought he beat Pacquiao etc...
Everytime he faced elite or hard working opponents, he was found wanting... wasn't busy enough when he needed to be.
What talent he did have, he wasted it imo.
Broner could CRACK. Ask Marcos . I think this idea comes from low output and defensive capabilities. But he was on pace to using his quick hands in a puncher brawler style like Bud. I’m a Cincinnatian and even I’m saying he’s no Crawford. He had to use his speed in a way he was always at odds with. Which is why I think ultimately he fell short of greatness. There was more earnings potential n his defensive style. But he was at his best in the pocket trading . Which left him vulnerable - far from a GGG granite chin.
I remember watchint this fight live. I thought it could have went either way. Seems like most only viewed who moved forward and was busier as opposed to power shots landed and accuracy. Great upload though.

I was so glad Shawn beat him all of the fight. The way he disrespected Kenny Porter and Shawn said NOTHING!!! I always felt Broner was jealous of Porter since they were kids in Ohio. That knockdown was epic but it didn’t help the outcome. One thing about Porter he’s gonna MAKE YOU FIGHT. The only thing that helped Spence was a knockdown because he was gonna have a draw or loss against Porter as well.
If you really watch the fight you can see how broner controls the pace and is the clear better fighter I’d still give broner the win honestly

I forgot how many times Porter ate shots to close distance. If Broner had more power he would have dropped him. Or rather, if he came forward and planted more he would have, we see him do it once in the last round. Too little too late on that.

This man is a pathetic ass who has no idea how much he distracts himself by all his trash antics, and his career will likely close out in a bad direction. Because he has no discipline, no focus, and no sportsmanship, and because he sets himself up for failure.
Bud Crawford-- and Inoue, and Beterbiev, and others-- leave all the trash talking and rude theatrics aside, while they *work* at defeating the opponent in front of them.

As much as I don’t like broner it was clear he won the fight!! He outlander porter, dropped him and made him look like a bum which porter really was a bum. Even porter knew he’d lost the fight. Broner won this fight clear and clean. Robbery.
Broner was the first boxer ever that had me rooting for the non American. I did not like him at all and was glad to see him dropped and beaten so easily by Maidana.
He dared to be great, and in doing so fought out of his natural weight class, the idiotic rhetoric about the maidana alleged beatdown is exactly that, many many alleged greats of the sports wouldn’t have seen the final bell, 1:20 he not only went the distance but also showed the heart and skills of a real champion, I’d argue but for knockdowns he’d have earned the decision. Adrian Broner earned a lot of respect from me during the Maidana fight. Broner had his jaw broken, but he still finished the fight. He got taught a brutal lesson, but did not quit. He took the punishment. When he moved up in weight class, I think he simply outgrew his punching power as he got older.

Broner was my favorite fighter! He brought the entertainment and his skills were amazing to watch. I think if he makes a strong comeback it’ll be great for boxing….. he would open up a lot of fights in the 140 division if he were to fight at the class. He already called out Haney. I think he would beat up Ryan bad with all his counter punches and check hooks

I loved Broner. His skills and courage were special. He did, however, tend to behave like a tweaker whenever someone stuck a camera or microphone within 20 feet of him. Someone on the commentators said "what he could have achieved if...", but boy won world titles a-plenty and did so with a blend of flamboyance and breathtaking skill, but, still, there could have been more. A bit of counselling, or some paternal, focused mentoring, and we could have been remembering Adrien in a different way. One of the best I've seen in my 6 decades involved in boxing, and I suspect we only ever saw about 50% of what he actually had on tap. The way he acknowledged and applauded Porter when the decision was announced was from his heart, and probably more who he really was than the petulant, mocking clown everybody wanted to see beaten.
