I hate that I had to let this guy have it like that but he shouldn't play around with the man's legacy like he wasn't anything special and I could see right through what he was trying to do so I let him know exactly who SRV was and at the same time let him know who Marshall Vaughan is, why? Because me and Stevie are one in the same I just haven't fully developed my skills I still have more potential to reach before come from out of nowhere and take Music City away from the fame and fortune seekers.

What I find unfortunate about that concert 1982 ‘Live at the El Macombo’ is the way that it’s cut…let me know if u can find it whole. It’s cut so that the ongoing booing from one song is heard at the beginning of the video to the next…which hides it-personally, I only found it unedited, without being broken into tiny pieces-once) At the end of the concert, SRV references the booing, and SRV-was-was-pissed-and I-don’t-mean-drunk!(i don’t understand it, booing, but then staying to boo…there’s a lot of fun to be had at a concert like that, perhaps learning that the blues is the heart and gut-bucket of jazz…? 😳) but they *stayed* there, to boo what they didn’t like…? -I love the ‘three years ago tomorrow’ at the beginning of the Montreux 1985 concert, for anyone who hasn’t noticed~and then Stevie kicks it off!💕

SRV was actually a huge country fan. When he came near our town for a show, he stopped in our local pawn shop to jam with the shop owner, a friend of his. When the guy suggested some blues jams, Stevie said "No man....I make my living doing that. Let's do some country pickin!" They had so much fun, that when the tour manager called him, he said "Naw, you guys can do a sound check without me! "

Stevie changed in styles a lot due too getting sober and getting more experience. In the beginning: 1980-1983 he was very powerfull and heavily inspired by Albert King. Then later 1984-1985 he went a bit more poppy sort of, he went faster and a bit away from Albert King, with Couldnt Stand The Weather. Then later 1986-1990 he went a lot cleaner and faster. So there is no one song that summarizes him as a whole. The one thing that does is his solo's, like Clapton said: he always knew where he was going, he never thought what he was gonna do next. That is why his solo's sound written so often because he is just so good at coming up with them as he goes. That is what no other guitarist has done yet. So for 1980-1983 i'd say Texas Flood at El Mocambo, where you really see his raw power. 1984-1985 i'd say the montreux concert is what he played like back then, this is also when Reese joined. 1986-1990, this concert; Austin City Limits of '89 is his pure speed, cleanness, his ability to play these almost pre written solo's.

Yeah, so there's a video with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, Paul Butterfield, B. B. King that you should check out. I listed the names in that order because the video of all four of them has their names listed that way. Also, his "standard" string is 13 gauge, or higher. RIP SRV.

When it comes to Stevie you have react to live videos here is a few Lenny , life without you live at the Capital Theater, Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland, Texas Flood live at El Macombo, and Rivera Paradise, and an older one I’m leaving “before I commit a crime” either one is great .

Welcome to a life long journey. His signature and debatably the most legendary electric blue performance ever caught on video - "Texas Flood" Live at the El Mocambo. Skip it all - dozens upon dozens of clips to see but this one shows why he is many people's guitar god. For another original and something that mixes jazz and blues and his incredible instrument mastery, "Lenny - Live from El Mocambo." Glad you ventured in - Thanks for the vid! Always cool when a proper musician is doing reactions.

My personal preference of Voodoo Chile is live in Austin from this same concert. He's so dazzling in that performance.

Get your hands on a copy of SRV's posthumous album "The Sky is Crying" (yeah, the Elmore James song; and viva physical media) and listen to his back to back instrumental versions of "Little Wing" (Jimi Hendrix) and "Wham" (Lonnie Mack) if you want to hear a Stratocaster sing and roar. Just two of the songs, but the whole album is grand master class. Get it, no regrets and much delight. And then get a copy the Elmore James album.

If you're interested, "Tightrope" is SRV's own autobiography set to the Blues. My personal favorite by far.
He said once his guitar talks for him and it screams with him not at him. Deep.

Two I would say are Texas Flood live at the el Macombo and the live version of Leave my little girl alone.

Life Without You live at Capitol theater
Texas Flood live at El Macombo
The most "Stevie" unique example is probably "Lenny", which you'll really want to check out.

Many original songs. All great songs. Look at life without you written for his late friend, high school shop teacher, guitar shop owner who he was very close to. He plays a custom white guitar, a gift from Charlie with a dancing hula girl on the.back. its wruttenfir Charey by Stevie. I feel like he write his own eulogy in this song. He always does a little speech during a break in the song that will help you understand Stevie the man better as to his heart and kind soul. Its one of my favorites. If course El McComba is a great live show. The Texas Flood performance is epic. Tge Nashville Jerrys kids charity is great. The show you hust watched is in Ausun on Austin city limits show. Sone other classic originals are an instrumental called Lenny after his wife before they divorced, another Rivera Paradise is just so relaxing, beautiful and totally different for Stevie. He was definently still evolving as a guitarist, vocalist, performer. Another great show is the Presidential Inauguration show fie the younger Bush president doing it all in Texas style with Stevie and brother Jimmy plays that night as well. Jimmy Vaughan's band was the Fabulous Thunderbirds incase you didnt know. Jimmy's no slouch either. He is also an exceptional guitarist, Stevies idol and biggest influence. Stevie still thought until he passed that no one was better than his big brother. Brother Jimmy was playing at Alpine Valley as well the night Stevie Died. May he RIP.

An excellent video to see Stevie in is Blues at sunrise with Albert King. It’s long but he and Stevie just set on stools and swap back and forth. It’s fun to watch Stevie play with his sort of mentor/idol just hanging out. It is on a live album and Stevie is pretty young at the time

Personally, I think you should have asked for suggestions as to what to react to before you did this one. A lot of people would have told you "Texas Flood" from Live at the Mocambo would have been a good first listen. You are going to get some haters for referring to SRV as average though I do think this song doesn't showcase his talent. SRV played with 13-gauge strings, and he still broke them.

You should watch the one where he plays the second half of the song behind his back. The cord remove/spin/cord re-plug alone, is something to see.

Signature? Studio versions of Couldn't Stand the Weather, Little Wing, Tin Pan Alley and Wall of Denial. The live versions are awesome but the studio versions highlight just him , his fingers and the guitar.
