His guitar was an extension of himself... he practiced all the time (even doing sound effects, like the sound of a football flying down the field. You really get this feeling while listening to Texas Flood... the torrential rain, wind, calm and then it picks up again. He was Brilliant! I'm 66... long time fan
#4 at the El Macambo - one of the most legendary bars in North America - the Rolling Stones did a surprise concert there in 1977, just as hometown boys RUSH were starting to hit their stride. Cheers from Toronto - keep up the good work !!!

That first tune was 'RUDE MOOD', Stevie won an EMMY for that & YES, IT WAS BREAK NECK FAST!!!

If you haven't watched "Texas Flood, Live at the El Mocambo", then you haven't really experienced SRV. It's practically a 9:30 solo with some singin' occasionally mixed in. I think it could be called his Magnum Opus. And please don't overlook the contributions that Double Trouble made to the total sound of all their recordings and performances. I think Stevie would be in tears to know that he gets so much credit and they get so little. The video I'm recommending is a 3 piece band, for goodness sake and this one song would make the ticket worth the price. Incredible!

In fact, the best lives were when he was not heavily drunk or doped. I had the chance to see him twice at the Olympia in Paris. The first concert was really not good, the second one was incredible.
Ain't Gone 'N' Give Up On Love A great blues song SRV wrote and his best vocal performance IMO! And his instrumental 'Lenny' that he wrote for his wife Lenora makes me cry along with his guitar every time,
I was fortunate enough to see him live two weeks before his passing in Tampa. Opening for him was another excellent guitarist "Jeff Beck!" I will say this was one of the best concerts I had ever been and I have seen to me the classics.. Yes, Zepplin Pink Floyd, Rush Boston .. The best part was when Stevie and Jeff came back out and played together as if we were all that mattered for another half hour or forty-five minutes..:) Fantastic...
Stevie was another great one that I was lucky to see live.He had so many songs and solos that were very good.Hard to pick a favorite of his.Travis thank you for this one!

@@ChasingAnthems 👋💙 Doubt that exists but I never tire of watching his other worldly passion and genius level mastery🎸🎶💯 His music remains fresh and exciting and I remain awe struck each and every time I watch. I am now 75 years old and won't live long enough to ever get tired or bored with his music💯‼️. My favorite version of his Voodoo Chile (and there are many great ones) is from his Toyko concert. He took it to another level seamlessly riffing off the melody and blending back into it in fresh and different ways. I am sure Jimi was smiling down on him that night.🌟😊✌️💙

That is the correct tempo for Rude Mood. It is insanely difficult to playwith that clear of articulation.
I saw Stevie live in Sydney Australia 1986 he was authentic.
That clip for #1 was an awesome show - I saw the whole thing on YT once - his version of Voodoo Child was stunning

Riviera Paradise and Lenny are the best 2 instrumentals he wrote. 1985 Capitol Theater is a spiritual experience to see Stevie sing Life without you (watch the guitar switch at the beginning). He starts out with his brown guitar then has his tech bring him his white guitar, named after his friend Charlie who built his white guitar right before he died at 40 from a heart attack. At the end of the song he says thank you Charlie because he lost a tooth. Then he always kisses that beautiful guitar at the very end. Also, he gave a heartfelt speech that is even more relevant today.

My all time favorite show was 1985 in Toronto when SRV opened up for Dire Straits - I got to see 2 of my 5 all time favorite guitarists. He played behind his back and over his head - the ultimate showman among guitarists - he left us WAY TOO SOON.
Maybe one time you could consider reacting to a RUclips video in which some of the all time greats like BB King talk about Stevie
Check out the video of him during a sound check before a show. I can't believe that the video that you watched didn't even have his Life Without You solo from the Capital Theatre. That's another one that I highly recommend.
The note bending exaggerated was inspired by Roy Buchanan.Stevie was a hell of a nice guy. Just a great human being. He would come up to the sportatorium where wrestlers were big at one time. But he'd play with whoever's there, he like that small crowd setting like a bar you know. Closer to people. But he'd run into people he went to school with and what not .
Ok so one of my fav SRV solos is towards the end of this performance of Voodoo Child from the Austin City Limits recordings. Well firstly the whole thing is freaking awesome but at about the 7:00 mark what he does on that instrument to me is like he's making love to it, totally in charge and getting and giving every bit of pleasure possible. Eric Clapton said that even as good a player as he himself is, he still has to think about where he’s going next on the fretboard. He said SRV did not have to do that, the music flowed through him just as it did for Hendrix.
People are suggesting it lower in the comments but I'll repeat. The best live performance available on video is the Live at the El Macombo show from 1983. Texas Flood, Third Stone from the Sun, Lenny, Little Wing. The Second is Live at Austin City Limits.
......also he was playing Scuttle Buttin which was an off take of a Lightning Hopkins song, Lightning Sky Hop, and yes the tempo was on. ;)

I would put Texas Flood's solos from El Mocambo against any, anywhere. He run's the whole length of the neck at such speed and clarity it's amazing.

He was just the best ever, my favorite is VooDoo Child at Austin City Limits not wearing the black outfit but the blue shirt because of the blues number he did in the middle of the solo.

Try using the heavy gauge strings that Stevie used. That's tough!
You need to complete the SRV catalogue, then, make up your own mind. One thing you'll discover, however, is that every song is a Stevie solo.
The first song, scuttle butt is always played fast. Stevie rips at fast tempos and does voodoo child way faster than Jimis version as well

This is a reaction video? You would have to have never heard his playing first to be a true reaction video. I don't know what this this was just listening to bits and pieces of different songs.
If you have already reacted to Voodoo Chile or Texas Flood, Little Wing and still aren't sure if you are a fan then you don't know greatness and never will. Stick to your Country and Western since the Blues played by a genius are too much for you to handle.
Those were a collection of the 5 lamest guitar solos. I've seen better SRV soundchecks!
The fact that you had to do a 5 song compilation shows you lack an ear.
