I always thought head scarfs were beautiful. I saw many Mexican elderly catholic women wear them growing up, and though they were what some consider different styles and purposes, I always viewed it as a normal piece of clothing but still fashionable.
The beginning part is me whenever I'm talking to someone new, lol, I'm so awkward.

I'm not sure if you get to read my comment but i just wanted to let you know, that the word Hijab translates to Modesty and it applies to both men & women.
In simple terms: Islam suggests human beings to dress modestly whilst being morally and mentally prepared to be a good role model for people around us.
And the thing you pointed out about the hair, the real scholars only said it because it may distract you while your doing something important, there is simply no other explanation for it (so, ignoring them-harsh comments, will be the way to go).

It's okay to find it hard at first, it happens. You'll get used to it. And it doesn't matter what people think, it's your own freedom and your own choice and you chose Allah, and that is incredible. You're gonna have your ups and downs with hijab and sometimes you're gonna be insecure about it, but stay strong. It has its own beauty. Take your time loving yourself and don't listen to negative people. Because what matters the most is you, your opinion, your belief and not them. Also congratulations :D

What I hate is that people think hijab is just a scarf.
Hijaab must cover the whole body, not only hiding the hair.
Sometimes I see sisters with tight pants and not covering their behind, and wearing a scarf.
That's not hijab. That's not how the wives of our prophet wore hijab, that is not what Allah meant with hijab.
