- Haolonggood is back again... with my 𝑓𝑎𝑣𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑒 dinosaur, Carnotaurus!
And what a delight this is. There are a few anatomical misses, but in general, it's very good. I especially like the more scattered appearance of the torso feature scales, which gets closer to the Hendrickx and Bell 2021 reconstruction than anything I have!

the thin caudofemoralis is a shame
Yes it's really quite inexplicable how that could have been missed!
A little thing to mention Dinosdragon its when i was in Argentina i asked about the hands of Carnotaurus and they told me this fella didnt had any claws or nails in the arms, outstanding video i really like it.
I would not be surprised! Except for that ungual on digit III which might arguably be something else. Thanks for the info.... Carnotaurus hands are of special interest to me!
Excellent review
Thank you for the compliment! 😁
@paleo-logica365
@JL-ux9dk
Beautiful figure!
For sure! HLG really is getting on!
From a distance it looks really good. but I am not a fan of the painting on the eyes and the gap in the jaw is unfortunate. I think I will wait for another take. Especially since its so popular.
Well if you're not in a hurry, you might wait to see if PNSO does an update! Given how their jaws and lips have gone so far, I think they'll pull it off if anyone can!
Great review as always! Will you get the Daspletosaurus too?
I think I will definitely get at least one of them, since I prefer their from than the PNSO morph. Don't know when they'll arrive though... my models have been arriving later than usual!
In general it really is a pity nice little figure! 🙂
Yeah, I was gonna say the eyes do look cartoonish
I hope they fix it! It's really quite puzzling.
Quite gorgeos , im curios if this is "tue current definitive carno" ? Since others are either more outdated or lacking😅
Carnotaurus is among the most famous prehistoric animals, and this model has several flaws, so no, I don’t think this is the definitive Carno. Pretty sure at some point a better version will be released. FWIW, the BotM will be such a version…
I think overall, it should suffice until you're really crazy about Carnotaurus. For me, the hands are still an issue, and the caudofemoralis bulk is just impossible to overlook. If you're a real stickler, perhaps you could wait to see if PNSO updates its Carnotaurus. I for one am looking forward to that!
I honestly think this awesome Carnotaurus in the gray color does look similar to green in certain lighting, and due to its mixtures of colors I think it can be perfectly seen as a Lost World JP novel based version of the Carnos.
True! The lighting really makes a lot of difference.
I want to wish nothing but the best for Haolonggood, because they are the breath of fresh air to our toy figure community. I love this figure, but still, Haolonggood has a long way to go when it comes to their theropods. For me, the only downside is their head sculptures in theropod figures. They look so artificial and cartoonish. But the overall quality of the figure is so mesmerizing. I would like to know one thing from you, my dear sir. In Carnotaurus fossils, their horns look blunt. But in PNSO, the horns look so sharp, and the point is down-curved. But this Haolonggood horn looks a bit more accurate. So which version is the most accurate? Down-curved, sharp horns or blunt, pointy horns? Either way, I like both versions. And for me, the best Carnotaurus figure out there is that 'Darknix Prehistoric Life Carnotaurus sastrei' figure. That figure is a work of art. I'm sure you'll buy it if you see it.😉Thank you so much for this wonderful review, my dear sir. You are the best in the business. Keep 'em coming. ❤
Thank you for your comment as always! HLG has definitely shown a lot of promise, but it's a puzzle why they couldn't base some of their skulls on skeletals that are freely available, especially for something like Allosaurus.
As for the Carnotaurus skull, view from the back there seems to be a downturning, so if you assume keratin build up as vizualised by Witton, it's possible to imagine it turning down even further. However it is not too clear to me if it might actually have been straight, and sadly we only have one specimen. Still given the direction the horns of modern animals can take on across species, I'm not too defnite in my beliefs or preferences.
As for sharp or blunt, it really depends on the overlying keratin, so I can't say for certain. Perhaps like in nature nothing is pinpoint sharp, but I believe it would be sharp enough for whatever it used them for, and if there was trauma or combat, possibly worn down to some bluntness.
Rebor has shown that you can give a theropod lips and a moveable jaw. I think they could have given it lips.
maybe the head was too small to give it lips, i think it's the same reason why their allosaurus didn't have lips
@@trashnoob96 kinda but pnso ironicly now made yangshuanosaurus with lips at almost same size
@@theimmortaleye7511yeah you're right, so there shouldnt be a reason to not give it lips other than personal preference. I personally don't mind the lipless look
@@trashnoob96 i personally am cool with lips or no , but haolonggood theropods have smth cursed with their current lipless faces
Both PNSO and Haolonggood have an upcoming lipped theropod at that size I think.
Nice figure but probably i prefer the collecta deluxe one if i have to choose a cheap figure.
Yes that _is_ quite a nice figure too! Wanted to pull the trigger a few times, but the hands stopped me.
He has Smool arms
Smal and useless! 😁
Well, as I always say, until we find a mummy of a Therapod we will know the truth, if they had lips or not
Hahaha. Indeed. Till then I really feel people should just be open-minded and enjoy the hobby! 😁
