  • Well, I finally had to do one Megolodon review! Not my favourite animal, and indeed, only interesting to me from a speculative phylogeny point of view, this is nonetheless a very nice offering from Haolonggood. It’s nicely painted, appropriately textured, and comes with a most interesting, aesthetically and functional base. Hopefully this is a good sign from marine things to come in the future from this exciting company!

    Having an articulated jaw does seem kinda unnecessary. Modern shark jaws move forward when biting so having an articulated jaw doesnt even show how that would actually look. I am not sure if that still applies to Megalodon but I agree I would prefer a static pose.

      @DinosDragons  10 месяцев назад +2

      I am ok with articulated jaws if it shows you some unusual anatomy or mechanism, such as we saw in the PNSO Dunkleosteus. Otherwise yes a static pose would be good enough!

    Wow, this looks so amazing. Haolonggood's first marine reptile is a blast. Nice colors, sculpt, pose, size, and everything. But I'm in love with that big Megalodon from PNSO, even though it looks like an old grandpa with wrinkled skin. If one can have this Haolonggood Megalodon, I'm sure you will be so satisfied. I loved that science part as always, my dear sir. To tell the truth, in each video, I look forward to that part. Because thanks to you, I get to read and learn something new every day. So thank you so much. Keep up the wonderful work. ❤

      Thanks mate, I really appreciate hearing from people like you who also watch the science part. It's a passion of mine, and obviously I do put in a lot of time to do that. You also know your dinosaurs very well...would love to hear that you've slowly built up your collection as well! 😁

      Thanks to you, I now know a lot about these amazing animals. And I'm sure the time you spend making these videos and studying about them is so worth it. Well, I do not have that PNSO Megalodon, but hopefully one day. 😉

    Sharks jaws usually aren't fully closed and I would say the Haolonggood Meg needs to be a bit bulkier,meg had a cosmopolitan distribution and often had close in counters with Livyatan during the Miocene,I just hope Pnso makes a 1:35 scale meg that's good again.

    It would be nice to see a true scale megalodon that isn't monsterized. Sharks are cute damnit! I'm just grateful PNSO's cretoxyrhina exists. Perfect figure for me. Shame there aren't more like it.

    Another Megalodon model ruined by an articulated jaw, I suppose it does at least look pretty good when viewed from the side

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  11 месяцев назад

      Just seems weird to me. I can understand filling the mouth of a theropod with articulated jaw, with any number of smaller victims, but for Megalodon, not so much!

    Excellent review, ...personally, my favorite is the deluxe version of Collecta,... fits quite well with the Cooper´s report (shape similar to that of a large white, with shorter nose and more robust head), has a good level of sculpting and a seamless head (only in the articulated jaw)

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  10 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the info! I'm not a Megalodon person, so I wasn't aware of other figures though to be honest, I would probably not have bought them. The CollectA having a similar idea as the Cooper one might change my mind! 😁

      I don't have them, except the PNSO. By the time I got them, it was probably six months later than anyone else already did, so there was no point in reviewing them.

      I think it's hard for manufacturers to deviate too far from what the general public has accepted as Megalodon. Unless enough diehard fans for accuracy can buy in enough volume, there will always be some expecation to be met.

    The meg has largely been ruined for me due to the conspiracy theories but I will say that this model is really cool!
    Also, the model lacks claspers on the pelvic fins, meaning that it's female.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  10 месяцев назад +1

      For me it's been ruined simply because of overexposure and hyperbole. When there is so much hype and then it gets downgraded, it definitely ruins the mood!

    • @jackstraw4222

      i agree,but it was worse when it got no exposure at all back in the past..there was no models of it at all...pretty much...
