Being a Nets fan is very painful. Second time in a decade we've traded all our picks for superstars that ditched the team a couple seasons later. Two playoff series wins since relocating to Brooklyn maybe third time will be a charm.

This is pure pain as a life long nets fan. My main gripe is why bring in kyrie and Durant who are well known divas, and expect things to change? Either don’t bring them or if you do then except you have to treat them like a baby. If kyrie was given the long term extension tht he wanted, then he and kd would’ve stayed. Back up to trading harden. All we gave up to get him and we trade him for Ben Simmons which was a huge gamble. Horrible call should’ve demanded Tyrese maxey. Answer is Nets front office absolutely made every wrong move, after acquiring the talent. Huge shame and we are now in the dust

    1. Injuries. Injuries. Injuries.
    2. Harden quit on them for no reason, and likely ruined the entire final chapter of his career by not just being more patient.
    3. The Nets front office hated Kyrie Irving, and went out of their way to run him out of town, even though him and Kevin were a package deal. All they needed to do was offer him an extension and they offered him a non guaranteed contract. They suspended him and gave him a wild list of things to do, only after the media reacted to the Isrealite video situation. They could’ve made it work.
    4. They almost hired Ime Udoka but didnt like the “optics” of it.
Nets are a picture perfect example of why only a few organizations consistently win all the championships in the NBA.

Those people aren’t intrinsically connected to the NBA world. Kyrie was and the owner of the team he played for was Jewish. All people wanted was some clarification at first. Then he went into diva/conspiracy mode and then people started to demand an apology. There are all kinds of media that depict some ethnicity or race in a negative light that fly under the radar. When someone like Kyrie promotes one, then obviously people are gonna shoot the messenger.
      Edit
He was his own worst enemy in that moment. Also he was already annoyed the organization with how he handled COVID.

So to be clear Kobe had Malone and GP older previous allstars and niggas call this a super team
Bron had Bosh and Wade prime all stars with older previous allstars like Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis coming off the bench doing role player work
Malone and GP were asked to go from all star level work to 3rd 4th option level work
Bron had older all stars doin 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th option work and in those roles niggas say he has no help
Kobe with his older all stars lost in the finals with Malone missing the finals and ppl blame Kobe
Lebron with his young all stars and older allstars off the bench loses in finals not his fault
Or was it his 2nd super team where the true super team got rescinded so he ended up with Steve Nash 39 another older all star who got hurt the 2nd game of the season so Chris Duhon was the starter so in your head Kobe Dwight Gasol and Chris Duhon is a super team like Bron has had and Dwight was playin thru a back injury all season

    1. Kyrie was a headcase. He was great when on the court, but he wasn't on the court much. Even without the vax thing he was going walkabout for a couple of weeks whenever he felt like it. Even when the Nets had KD and Harden he didn't seem interested in playing as much as possible.
    2. KD is not a leader, he doesn't take control of the team. I was often dumbfounded to see him only shoot like 12 times in a game, a goat scorer should be demanding the ball more and getting off shots, not sitting back waiting like a role player. He could do it, like in the series vs the Bucks, but it wasn't often enough.
    3. Harden left too early, I know he was frustrated with Kyrie, but if they stuck it out for one more year and the 3 of them actually got some games together they could've been awesome.
    4. Bringing in Simmons was a huge mistake, which probably destroyed the whole thing..... well, that and the Kyrie contract situation.

They could not contain their egos. Each player thought that he was the most important player on the team. Harden wanted to be the offense and did not want Kyrie to be the first option. Harden also gave up on the team. Kyrie did not want restrictions on his contract. KD wanted the Nets to fire Nash and Marks. But even if KD got his wish, KD would have given another ultimatum to the Nets. But our future is looking good. We can sign or trade for D Mitchell, sign Trae Young and trade or sign Luka.

And you don’t think those stars you mentioned have egos and difficulties? Young allegedly got his coach fired. Doncic didn’t gel with all other potential co stars the Mavs tried to get him before they landed Kyrie. You need to support your stars even as you make them behave ..just so to get them to stay … the nets failed.

@@walkrwalkr3622 They have less egos than the 3 that were with the Nets.

@PainandMotivation All three are manageable … the nets office just doesn’t know how to handle them. I mean look at other teams with multiple superstars and the egos they had to handle. KD and Kyrie weren’t clashing so it should be easier … they didn’t have to get rid of anyone.
If you’re CEO you don’t throw your top performer under the bus. That’s what Joe Tsai did. It’s bad leadership. They don’t know how to protect their own. I doubt any superstars would want to work with the nets after seeing how they treated theirs.
Egos is expected from top performers- it’s how you deal with it and manage it that defines the capability of an organization. The nets failed. I just feel had it been any other organization, they would have been able,to keep both KD and Kyrie.

Nets went all in on 3 superstar players and can you really blame them those opportunities don't come around everyday. When you go all in you can win big or lose big, just happened to be the later option. In terms of the future for the Nets think it is the same play book, getting a star in free agency, just might take a couple years for this to happen hopfully works out next time around.

Yes they ought to know how to handle them. Suspending Kyrie was a stupid move. It’s all media narratives. The same media that didn’t show the black community protesting outside the stadium for the overly heavy handed treatment of one of their own. Kyrie helped pull them all the way to 4th rank before asking for a trade. Did they really expect him to stay after that treatment and them offering him a bad contract? Did they really expect KD to stay without a capable co-Star? The Mavs happily took Kyrie because they know they wouldn’t be able to keep Luka unless they offered him a capable co star and they made sure to treat Kyrie better.
Yes Kyrie can annoy the mainstream media but being a media annoyance is nothing … look at the other headaches most teams had to deal with … gun flashing (morant), underage women(giddy), semi assault on the court (draymond) … I’d say Kyrie isn’t that bad …

Calling the ‘04 lakers a failure as super team is a big stretch imo, especially when you consider that they were coming off a 3-peat and still made it to the finals.

Quality information on basketball related topics but are we really living in a “post-covid” world and Kyrie seems to be just fine like many of the other unvaxxed. Nets management fumbled the bag.
