Elli, have you ever considered doing a series of videos exploring what’s involved in doing a hutting holiday in the Alps. This is something we just don’t have in the UK, and many British hikers are completely ignorant of hutting. You could cover things like planning, booking, what to eat, what to bring, cost, culture, language, rules, access etc.
As usual, when I checked on RUclips and so .....happy to see your video. Like always, it cheers me up . Otto so well behave in the train. Have a good time with your sister 💕 A big hug to Otto ❤

Beautiful scenery! It was surprising watching the video that you and your sister walked so far with hardly anyone else about, then you got to the hut and and it was crowded! Where did they all come from...?! Otto is a very lucky dog, he has such an exciting life compared to most dogs. He does a 1600 mile walk, goes home for a few days, then he is smuggled onto a train in a bag, told to keep quiet if the conductor comes along, then he gets to walk among that lovely alpine scenery!
Awww, thank you so much :) I really like the thought that Otto can now live his best life and I'm so grateful that he's always up for any adventure and so easy-going 😇 About the hut: honestly, that's a big phenomenon 😅 That happens almost every time 😅 we didn't see anyone heading in the same direction the entire day.... but there are sooo many trails and paths in the Alps that often meet at the huts, so people can hike there from all sides, some people do rock-climbing so come down from the summits....
I've hiked in many parts of the German and Austrian Alps, but the area around Berchtesgaden somehow really stands out for me..... I don't know why because mountains are always stunning, but there's just something very special to the Berchtesgaden area, I'm sure you'll love it 😍

Fantastic views. And lovely weather. It lookes quite strenuous, not only the ascents but also because of the loose stony paths. But you are young and fit 😊 I myself lose most of my power in altitudes above ca 2000 m and I have sprained 9 ankles during my life so far, so I have to be careful 🤪🥴😊 Looking forward to watching next episode 😊

I was about to say - That's bloody great weather for January But then I read the description (Oops my bad) 😵 Wow, some fantastic / Beautiful views. I would love to visit there But I would never want to come home. So cute when you were giving Otto a quick wash, he looked so happy 🐶 After watching you all walking along the edge of the mountain, you could see why you brought your big boots, Very Rocky. Tell you what that bunkhouse was a tip, I wouldn't want to sleep there. Elli you and your sister really look alike, at the end for a second I thought that was you with Otto. As always Take care 😋✌

They try to fit many people in as alpine hiking is getting even more popular. Many huts also have real (shared) rooms, but dogs are most of the time not allowed in these rooms, only in the anexe/bunkhouse. So I can't complain as it's hard enough to find huts that allow dogs and aren't booked up already :)

Stunning - classic Alps in the sun - just lovely to see the grass and cows - thanks for sharing 😊 I use O'Tom Tick Twisters which look a little smaller than yours, if it helps, but probs not worth changing 3.5hrs Stuttgart? to Munich 😮European distances! btw did you registers Otto's microchip on an Austrian database or is there one for the whole EU ?

Stuttgart to Munich on the train usually takes around 2hrs, but I took slower train (cheaper ticket), so it took almost 4hrs to get to the border to Austria (so quite a way past Munich). No, luckily there's no need to register the microchip for other EU countries, there is an EU passport that's valid everywhere which makes travelling easier :)
@@ellihikes I was thinking about if he got lost in Austria, I guess your contact details are not on their national database (animaldata) so the vet/authority who has him would need check a European wide database like europetnet. Perhaps ask your vet how it works, or type Otto's number into animaldata and see if they recognise it and direct you to the German database which has your contact details.
