  • Join us for part two of our overnight backpacking trip in the Bavarian and Austrian Alps. We hiked through the Berchtesgaden National Park, explored the "Steinernes Meer", a plateau formed of Limestone and finished our adventure with some wild swimming in the Königssee, probably the most famous mountain lake in Germany.
    Route: Ingolstädter Haus-Kärlingerhaus-Saugasse-St.Bartholomä (Königssee)

Absolutely stunning Elli and made all the better for sharing the experience with your sister (and Otto❤). I think walking down those rocks on a rainy day would be a challenge and I might have been singing the song “Slip sliding away” 😂. Thank goodness that you were blessed with great weather. Keep it up and well done. 😊

Omg yes, the weather was so perfect - would be horrible in the rain 😅 slippery and also very high up and exposed. Thank you so much for following along :)

Hello Elli and Otto & Sis.
Well, I thought part 1 had some beautiful views, but this has blown me away. It would have taken me about a month to walk that trail because I would have been stopping every 5 minutes just to look around.
I was glad to see that Otto didn't have to go in the bag again on the boat Hehe.
    Take care 😋✌

@@ellihikes You’re very welcome and thank you as well. I’m glad it helped make your day. Love following your adventures, yes i must agree the area is extremely beautiful. It amazes me how clean and well kept the trails are. Sadly that’s not always the case here in us. I truly enjoy learning about the places you & Otto adventure in as well as you sharing some of your culture with us on here too. Your videos are a bright and uplifting joy for me to watch and i again thank you for sharing with us. Take care, keep safe and see ya on your next offering.👍🏻😃😊

Spectacular views for the downhill section of your ‘Familienmitglieder’ hike Elli. Very different landscape than we have in the UK. Perhaps a touch of the Scottish Highlands, mountains and Lochs 🤔 Thank you for sharing this double feature 👍🏻

Thank you so much for the kind words! Yes, it probably is a little bit similar to the Highlands, just a lot higher and woodlands instead of moorland :) Thank you for following along!

Once you get away from the mountain huts, there seem to be very few people around, which is great. You had lovely weather for your trip and the scenery is stunning. You have already made me add some of the Scottish trails to my "to do" list, now I'll have to add this one in the alps as well!😀

Hahaha, I'm really glad that you're living the videos! Honestly, if you're ever down here in Germany the area is amazing, there are so many cool places within a short distance: there's Salzburg which is beautiful, the Watzmann (one of the most famous mountains in Germany), the Königssee and Berchtesgaden. Munich is not too far either. 😊 Thank you so much for following along 😊

    Stunning! 🙌😊
I wonder if you have harder limestone than the UK, to create those mountains 🤔
Poor Otto - in the most inconvenient place as well 😬

    • @ellihikes
      @ellihikes  7 месяцев назад

Thank you so much :) I thought so too that the limestone might be harder but then again I also saw some parts during our hike that looked almost identical to Malham Cove and the limestone formations there, so I'm not sure.... :)

Nice footage, Elli! Wish we had more mountains and alpine lakes where I live here in the U.S.(mostly woodlands). What information is contained in Otto’s passport? Are they required by the for travel outside Germany? Curious bc I have dogs but have never traveled outside the US with them. So nice that you and your sister share a common interest and get to share an adventure together. Love seeing the huts and cafes. Safe travels!😊

Thank you so much for the kind words :) for travelling in the EU, I think the pet passport is not mandatory (at least for most countries) as there are no checkpoints where you might need them. But I always take it anyway because it contains all the information about the vaccination status in case I would need to see a vet and it also proves that it's in fact my dog and I'm not importing it illegally (pet trafficking is a big issue in some areas unfortunately)....
