- First of all, a Ramadan Mubarak to all of those celebrating and welcome to the 2024 Ramadan Special!
My apologies for the delay but there have been many schedule changes.
While I am not Muslim, I do live in Dubai and Ramadan is an important and beautiful month in the country, so I dedicate this to all of those celebrating 😊
As the past two Ramadan Specials were on Emirates and Etihad it would only be appropiate to fly the third of the Middle East 3 and that is Qatar Airways!
We’re flying from Doha to Madrid in the older Business Class model tof their Airbus A350-900. It is despite this a stunning product and I prefer it over the Qsuite.
In this video I’ll try my my best to show you as much as I can of the experience during Ramadan at Doha Hamad International, The Al Safwa First Class Lounge and onboard.
While it is widely celebrated in the terminal and lounge, the inflight Ramadan experience is not as comprehensive as at other airlines. The regular service is however beyond and amongst the best!
Remember to please be respectful in the comments and as it is a month to be extra generous in the Muslim community, let’s all follow this nice example and do our best to assist those that need more help than us.

Amazing video from the ground by your friend Karlo. This is a true friendship that deserves to be forever treasured.
Karlo and I met each other on the very first day I arrived to Dubai over 12 years ago and we’re still great friends. Great guy. He moved back to Croatia last year as he became a father. He went from bustling Dubai to the quiet island of Hvar. I spend a good week there last summer.
And he is great with camera’s and technology so I knew he would be happy to spot the plane.

Really good videos and stuff about planes. As you said, I also traveled in 29th March 2024 on Air Arabia from Baku to Sharjah. It was an amazing experience with Iftar in the Flight and bonus- I was king of the skies as many people did not show up so I got a full row to myself but it was an amazing experience at Ramadan.

I noticed that ever since you started doing a Ramadan special every year and you already done the ME3 carriers, any idea which airline you will do next year for Ramadan? As mentioned in the video, you want to do a Garuda Indonesia but a change of plan cancelled it out. Maybe from CGK - DOH next year?
I’ve flown through there last year during Ramadan and it wasn’t this deserted at all 😳
I guess it also depends on the departure time and day during Ramadan!

That sounds honestly very good and I’ll try. Hope they have agreements with QR on the route as the flight alone from DXB to DOH is super expensive 💀
Great video. Just wondering, what type of camera did you use to record your video? It was very high quality. The way you recorded your video is very stable, did you use any sticky mount or just by hand? And what software app did you use to edit your youtube video and is it free to use? I am currently learning on how to record and edit my travel videos. Any advice is very much appreciated. :))

Electronic blinds on 350s are optional, depends on airlines unlike the Dreamliner where it comes in stock. And yes obviously Airbus did it better like everything else. ❤

Hey Maurice! Yeah so the major problem at QR is the inconsistency in the seats product. You pay EXACTLY the same for all products. Let’s say my flight from Prague is expected to have Qsuites, you book it just for that, and suddenly they change it to a B787-8 or even worse, an A320 with reclining seats. It happens all the time.
I’ll publish a video on the terrible A320 in Business soon to show it!
Going back to normal. What was this guy thinking!?!!?!? Micromanaging his employees and coming up with silly little rules such as you can't talk to other people at the lunch lines???? Asians cannot talk to blacks, etc......

The slats (during extension after engine start and before landing) sound like their actuators could do with a bit of lubrication. There are several non-muslim organisations making donations to the needy in the third world, a form of Zakat. Etihad has the best Iftar package.

I am not sure about the purpose but they are flaps and slats deployed before takeoff and landing
No I am not talking about those. Look at the aircraft behind the A350s wing. You can see it's left wing and elevator at the timestamp. The A350 rises slightly, after which you cannot see them.
Another place to look is the winglet and the black spikes sticking behind it. In the beginning, one of the spikes is in line with the top of the building, but you can physically see it move up.

That’s the flight control checks. The pilots move all the movable surfaces to check if they are working or not. It’s done on almost all planes!

I cannot laud Qatar enough. Spouse and I needed to go to San Sebastian. Qatar gave seat allocations and luggage from Melbourne via Doha and Madrid direct to San Sebastián. Great journey. Returning home with family ( 3) from Paris. Qatar J lounge at CDG at 6 am was sublime. Try it, you will never want to fly anyone else.

They’re indeed a pleasure to fly with the family or alone. Once you fly any of these Middle Eastern carriers it is very hard to return to the other airlines.. I’m lucky to live in Dubai as it’s always a pleasure to travel!

Also no, most places in Turkey don't overstuff the Sandwich or Durum. That is the German trend. Only Karadeniz Doner in Taksim Square and a FEW places stuff good amount of meat, other than that most places give scarce amount of Meat, a slice or two of tomato, pepper or some giving a few potatoes and onions... With no Sauce.

Frankly speaking, your videos are beautiful and your channel is beautiful, but they are missing one thing. We as Arabs want translation, so if you please allow an opportunity in your videos for any language, why do you block the translation on your videos?
So how it works is that I don’t write the text in youtube.. I would have to have an Arabic speaker at home with me to translate it all.
I could do the youtube translation but it takes two more days to edit and get it all done.
I would love to have the languages vary but it’s very hard for a small youtuber like me and the result would be worse!

Wonderful flight report mate.Whenever I fly with Qatar I never have a bad word to say for their service.As a Greek I would prefer my Greek salad a bit different and my kebab sandwich full of tzatziki or cream of yogurt tomato and onions.😁Cheers from Athens

Thank you for sharing your journey on this platform during Ramadan. However, to my disappointment, and no fault of your own, is that Muslim nations continue to serve alcoholic beverages, while it's clearly forbidden in Islam. Airlines can get creative with their beverages that are non-alcoholic as an option. Ramadan Kareem and safe travels!
If they got creative with non-alcoholic beverages and stopped serving the other drinks I am sure that over 60% of their customer base would disappear overnight, including me Not only because of the lack of alcohol, but because it would become a religious airline/one with many rules. Not that it’s bad, but that’s exactly why Saudia never has been as popular with Westerners as with Muslims and why they have to completely reinvent themselves with Riyadh Air.
The same way if there was an airline strictly observing Catholic rules it would scare away a huge Muslim/Jewish etc customer base.
I’m sure it was a tough decision to take for these airlines, but their own survival depends on adapting the airline to all cultures. Emirates is the pioneer in this celebrating every major holiday. Last night they were celebrating both Ramadan and Easter! And that serves the world.

Airlines are in the business of making money. Also the airlines which don’t serve alcohol clearly aren’t creative with any of their drink choices(Saudia, Egyptair, etc….). When have you last heard of a “world-class” dry airline. Even the upcoming Riyadh air is not going to be a dry airline anymore because the middle eastern carriers already operate at a disadvantage in comparison to their European competitors(layovers).
Ramadan sure looks boring.
