Such a underrated song
ikr one of my personal favorites
Those guitar chords in the verses are super unique and hard (*big* stretches), and they're some of the most beautiful chords I've ever heard.

Sounds even better than the studio version
Damn. This version gives me hope that Anthony actually could sing as good as he did on the studio version. This is pretty close to the studio version. In a studio environment, with no pressure from the crowd, full energy to focus on only the one song, I am sure now that 2002 Anthony really could pull off the studio version.
I want to believe that his issues live are a result of him not being able to hear himself well. keep in mind, autotune was invented in 1997, so all his vocals before then were fully him.
In my opinion anthony was in his prime in 2002 and 2003. John 2006 and 2007. Flea 2006 and 2007 depending on what style of flea you think is the best. Chad 2006.
Well all I can say is listen to the new April 1st 2022 Fonda theater show. Maybe it's because it's a small venue but he sounds better than he ever has imo

@@blistabliss I was at that show lol. Aside from maybe black summer (he was a bit flat on the chorus) I’d have to agree, he sounded great. John definitely shined when the spotlight was on him, but man, Flea and Chad were better than ever. There’s a whole lot more passion and energy in this band right now than there was 5 years ago.
The Dig a Pony leadup and transition was dope!

Anthony sings in tune here. Completely amazed. Just a voice crack at the first part of the song. I would have liked that john would have done the high part on the break. The rest of the band was as always incredible!

@@j-uk2189Bad technique and not music knowledge though he knows how to sing by now he mastered his middle tones on the new albums even tho his voice is not as strong.

Omg Dig a Pony at the beginning!! 😍😍 By the Way is & always will be my favorite album from them 💙. So many childhood memories are connected to the album for me. It's very near & dear to my heart. This song has always been one of my favorites from this album 💙.
After being bullied over and over at school because of my looks and apart from being from a poor background,among other problems(like being black or the cleaner's son,never did any drugs),i finally brought this album from the local street market here in my country,the track "dont forget me" had some strange things in the audio because of the poor quality of the CD at the time in the best part when AK shouts,first the only songs that i listened where the initial 5 or 6 then 10 in row then the whole album!,the song named "tear" tore me apart from the first time i heard it i cried like a little kid,every now and then i put the CD on the radio just to listen to Flea's trumpet part its like a "litlle piece of Heaven"as like i recall,anyway one day the shy teenager reached adulthood and finally brought their albums,this and californication are their best in my opnion!,take care miss,best of luck to everyone,stay in the good path people!,bye!
By The Way era Anthony Kiedis was so attractive that it hurts to see him. He's still hot nowadays, but he was on his prime here, imo.

Yeah I agree. I think people knock it because it is more melodic and less of the chili peppers signature sound but I loved john's vision for the album. And it is actually one of their highest rated albums by most critics.
