For those wondering this was Stowmarket middle school. And these are my memories of this place of when I was a student. 1:21 This was the front playground, it led to a tennis court at 1:38. The bit you cannot see because of all the plants was a woodchip garden. There used to be a small shed next to the tennis court but is either degraded or out of sight. 1:47 this was the back fire exit / entrance to the old science room. For one experiment we made little paper parachutes & put eggs in them in order to protect it from breaking when it hit the ground. I threw mine on the top window closest to the staircase. 1:51 the entrance to the older kid's classes. This is where years 7 & 8 had their main classes. 3:24 this is most likely what remains of the old library. I spent most of my break time here reading books & relaxing. 3:39 unfortunately i cannot remember what this was, if anyone could tell me that'd be appriciated. 3:55 I cannot remember this one either (hint, the ones i can't remember are either probably teacher's rooms or classrooms I didn't get involved with.) 4:42 one of the old IT rooms, wires & mice still included. 4:55 one of the other random classrooms / teacher offices. 5:00 the big empty space to the right was a locker room. The door directly ahead leading to the front entrance of the school. 5:35 Part of a school project, I wasn't involved I don't think. 5:54 Old maths room, also the loudest room in the school. 6:11 this was an art room but it was specialised. This room dealt with clay models & front right corner was the furnace they used to solidify the clay. 6:27 this door was another science room that I affectionately refer to as the bunsen burner room. 6:45 another room i cannot remember. 7:11 This was the science room that i threw the egg parachute from, it's mostly a chemistry class. 7:51 The old staff room. 9:09 He doesn't go in (I don't think I'm doing this as the video is going.) But this lead to the boys changing rooms straight ahead, & the locker room from 5:00 to the left. 9:26 It's a pity that he doesn't go through here, but here is the story. The cabinet to the left may have been used to hold trophies & awards of some kind. As for the right side this lead to another room with computers in it. They tried putting minecraft in here & some people even played doom. Further ahead you will end up at the workshop. This is where i made a light turn on & off, burned my hand with a hot glue gun & made a key chain of a little yellow cat. I still have this to this day & I will for the rest of my life. The metal is rusted but the plastic looks just like it was made all those years ago. 9:34 this was the old cooking classroom. I baked cakes with too much sugar in it here. This classroom was particularly memerable because this was the last class I went to before I left & it got shut down. I went early so i missed what happened for the last year celebration of the school. 10:35 the staff room again. 10:57 the old reception area 11:07 through that glass were the office staff. It is here that the head teacher resided & held the school bell system. I once had the priviledge to ring it. The head teacher was great. 11:12 a quick glympse of the head teacher's office to the right. 14:21 behind those wooden pannels was the upper playground area, it had outdoor benches & was mostly used for eating outside. 14:43 Old cafeteria, they had a tuck shop open at break time where you could buy hot food & drinks. This was also where discos were held. 15:11 Old gym / sports room. I developed my fear of heights & obsession of badminton here. 17:13 He doesn't go through those bits but there was a geography class & a teachers office there. It was another exit into the upper playground. 17:56 entryway to the other building (year 5 & 6.) The boarded up bits are the playground areas. 18:27 That has been bricked over but an office used to be on the right. I vividly remember sciving off assembly in there once. 19:18 I think that was an old maths room. Lovely teacher in there. 19:28 This was another IT room, but it was really the coolmathsgames room. 19:33 He didn't go into those rooms but the one on the right I remember getting massive headaches over the noise that eventually made me leave. The one on the left is the classroom that overlooks the outside tennis court from 1:38 19:36 the very door at the end is linked to the stairway at 22:00. Go past the stairway & we go into an art room. This also overlooked the tennis court. It was here that the nerds of the school played Yugioh! I also resided here at break times to have some games. I made some good friends & one of those friends I still see regularly. 19:45 year 6 class room. This is where I placed 2nd on the multiplication maths challenge when I was in year 6. I forgot to get my £20 prize money. It was here that I really went hardcore in my learning. 20:18 the main year 5 classroom. 21:33 this was an old IT room. Also the only IT room that was actually productive. This is all, I sincerely thank you if you read it all.
Not sure what 3:39 was either, do remember hearing the library was divided up not long after I left. 3:55, I used to have history in there but was also used for English. 6:45 was the staff room! Other than that think you were spot on with other places, can still remember what teaches had what classrooms from my time! I left in 2008!
Thank you so much for visiting and posting this video.... This school was my last memory I had before having to leave for Germany to live at at the age of 12 in 1991. I was so heartbroken. All these years I had a perfect map and lovely memories of my school. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ So sad to know that it's closed down now.
My old Middle School. Left there in 1996 before going to Stow High between 96 and 98, left in 99 after a year of 6th form. Seeing the old Middle School takes me back, can almost see my younger self tearing through the corridors n rushing t get t lessons, the memories of unfortunate Lab 1 and Lab 3 detentions as well for standing up for myself when being bullied. Can still remember the form room F5, Peggy Fairbourne, F6 Mrs Munroe, M7 (7ME, Moggan/Evans), the music rooms under Mr Bidwell and of course the headmasters Mr Arbon and Ewing, Mr Collins being interim between Arbon and Ewing and of course, Mr Boylen....Real mix of memories, good and bad, some hellish ones too.. I hope I get the chance t lay those ghosts t rest before the school is razed to the ground t make way for housing....
My old school from the 1980’s. Unfortunately lots of scandal. My old music teacher in particular. Only in this part of the school for the first two years then you were over for the next two at what was known as the annex in Violent Hill Road (pun). Enjoyed the old music studio, coffee area (if you played an instrument or the double entendre) and swimming pool but heard it had all been demolished after the ‘scandals’ I read later on. It was common knowledge sadly. The Violet Hill Road part was atrocious with an outside trough for boys and the WC’s during winter. Sometimes the tennis ball ended up in the trough from the playground and some poor fella had to try and flick it out. The poor goalie. I see it’s an old folks home now. How Suffolk CC got away with that place as a school for young kids I have no idea. It’s worked out well though as I now live in SW1 in Westminster but had an abysmal time at Stowmarket Middle School. (Stowupland Primary School was a great start though).
Oh man, I taught here for six months from January 2014 until the Board of Governors cut me and another teacher for budget reasons. It was the second-last year before it closed. Didn't expect that nostalgia hit from my old hallway at 18:34. Hope my Year 5s from back then are doing okay these days.

Its emotional to see such a building that gave so much to so many generations, rotting like no one cares. So sad.
Thats how i think on many buildings
So, so sad to see this vibrant school reduced to such a ghostly tomb. I spent 13.5 years working here and it still holds a great place in my heart.
left here in 2009! crazy sights
Can't believe it's just being left there doing nothing. I left here in 2002... Brought back so many memories. Rather creepy though..

I absolutely loved this place.. my best school years spent here. Such a shame to see it this way

Been wondering how it looks in there now, shame to see it like this after years of it being open
My last year here was in 2009. I spent some of my best years at this school it’s a shame it’s rotting like this and going to be turned into houses
