I remember reading an article about this woman in The Guardian. I was so moved I wrote to her and sent a poem called Sometimes, ( not by me) when she was in the Douglas Bader unit at Roehampton. I had a lovely response from her which I still have. I am so pleased and inspired that she turned this awful experience into a positive one and became a Paralympian champion. Her words at the end are so encouraging.
I was also very lucky I was working in Belfast in 1980 when a 500lb bomb went off. I walked away with minor injuries many others didn't. It has changed my thinking about terrorists and people in general. I also no longer cry. I sympathise with what she went through.

If they were, they'd have been on scene rather than having to be called. There were no police, fire or ambulance crews training at Aldgate that morning.

Various people I know heard the explosion from outside Liverpool Street to Aldgate stations and the route between. Maybe the police were there, it just would've been nice if they'd acted and done something. First on the platform other than station staff were the fire brigade, they had been told to wait in case it was a trap and maybe another explosion. By this time some of the walking wounded told them there were people dying down there, they decided not to wait for clearance and went into the tunnel. There were no police until the first walking wounded got outside the station. It doesn't make sense if they were there, practicing for such an event, which they do all the time, or used to, that they didn't bother to try and find out what that loud bang was.
