Whilst this is absolutely phenomenal, it makes me immeasurably sad - I was a pupil when the extension and additional blocks were added (esp, the Art/DT/Science blocks which is where you gained entry) and actually helped plant the trees along the edge where the playground meets the playing field. Consequently, I remember both the 'old' layout, and the 'new'. Shame you weren't able to go through the dinner hall, down to the changing rooms, and what was the old PE, DT & Art block (before the Art studio was converted to a drama studio, etc.). It seems insane to see it all awaiting demolition, when I think of the amount of money that was poured into the buildings to modernise and expand them. You just imagine your school buildings, especially ones so expansive, lasting forever...
I was there from 1988 to 1992 so I got lost a few times as it looks like the layout changed in some parts. Loads of memories came flooding back and left me feeling a bit sad. They were good and carefree days... Thanks for making the video!
i was in the last year group to go here in 2015, despite only going here for 2 years there’s a lot of memories and it’s very sad to see it like this :(
I went here when they changed to a two tier school system (years 5/6/7 at Barton and then started high school in year 8) it’s crazy to think that I was one of the last pupils here. It’s so sad remembering lessons in some of those classrooms and seeing what it turned into.
