Michelle Nguyen well a GOOD scary story doesn't typically make one do a face-palm and groan in utter annoyance.
Because in panic your mind goes into a 'instinct mode' and you can't think rationally.
These people value their safety more than catching the intruders. When the intruder is frightened, and there's nothing to separate you from them, there's no telling what they might do to save themselves. The last thing you'd wanna do is let them know you realised and that you'll call the cops on them.

I love the part about the mom seeing someone through the peep hole and letting out a blood curdling scream, because that’s definitely the normal reaction I give when I see anyone through the peep hole
I mean do normal people try to open your front door? I'd say it wasn't crazy for her to scream since the person trying to open the door was a stranger. Normal people knock or ring the doorbell.

I love watching storms. The guy’s description of watching storms in the second story is very accurate. I haven’t done it in years but when he used to have his apartment my dad, little sister and I would always turn off all of our lights, open up our blinds and watch the crazy storms that would happen. My dad lived in that apartment for about ten or eleven years so we got to see all kinds of cool storms. Hail storms, heavy rain storms, storms that shook our apartment from all the wind. We had a lake right below our apartment and we would always enjoy watching it fill up and see how much it would fill ip. A few times it got so full it went over the wall that surrounded the lake, into the grass and onto the sidewalk!
