I hitched a ride in the mid 70s, and the guy spent the whole 15 minute drive telling me I shouldn't be hitch hiking, and telling me all the things he could do to me if he wanted....I'll never forget it...I was so lucky he let me out.

Once when I was driving I saw someone putting his thumb up and looking at me so I smiled at him and put my thumb up as well and about 5 minutes later I realized he was a hitchhiker 😂😂

I live far away from my house almost 150 miles away to be closer to my university. Once upon a time I was heading back to my house for a weekend. It was 1:02am. On a dead road I so a man waving his hand with a thumb up. I hit the gas pedal and didn't stop until I arrived my house. My father whoped my ass in the morning because he was the hitchhiker.

Lol I skipped it, having heard it on 𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 2 or 3 other channels! But the first time was on Lets Read, and it was pretty crazy bc of just how real it sounded! How did story 3 *𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸* it was a 98/99 Explorer?!! At first they said it was a 98- even though stupid drunk; at the very end said 99?! I think I'ma hafta call bullshit on that one... Nobody just instinctively knows the year of another person's car!?!

I once gave a stranger a ride from college to the city where we both lived. On our way there, I told her a few horrific hitchhiking stories to try to convince her or the dangers of getting in a car with a total stranger. It didn't work. She loved spooky stories, and even told me a few of her own.
Oh well, I did my best.

These stories ring so true. Years ago my mother was driving to pick up my sister from her college town for a weekend at home. She saw a young hitchhiker, assuming he was a college kid who needed a ride to campus, she stopped for him. He was very pleasant until he pulled out a huge buck knife to “show” her. She didn’t panic and instead commented on the workmanship of the handmade leather sheath, and they talked about it. He eventually sheathed the knife. There were no further incidents. Mama was very foolish and very lucky. I will never pick up a hitchhiker, and discourage anyone from doing so.
Agreed even if you feel bad for not picking them up just think to yourself better to be safe than sorry.
If I stopped to pick someone up and they said thier destination was just up the road I'd say well just walk your happy ass up there.

You don't often hear the stories of those who actually got killed (because duhh... they're not alive to tell it) until the killer is caught and imprisoned. But by that time, they've already gathered a large number of victims.

@Murray Ross I have a dog and she does the same thing. Its so creepy. The one that bothered me the most is when I was taking a shower I thought I heard tapping on my bathroom door (I live alone) and when I came out she kept staring into my spare bedroom. Every time she walked by the spare bedroom she would sit and stare at it for a couple of minutes. I am sure the tapping was in my head, but these stories make me even more creeped out by it.

Something like that happened to me one time.The severe depression I was suffering from at the time actually saved my life. I just didn't freaking care. Long story short when the guy pulled out a knife and told me to pull into a secluded area I told him to straight out to f*** off! and kept driving to a populated area and pulled right into a crowded parking lot. To this day I'm still angry at myself for being so stupid and letting that person inside my car. It will never happen again.

My dad picked up a hitch hiker on a road trip time and I woke up next to him. I was like 8 and I screamed when I realized I was resting my head on a stranger. Yeah that's totally me I'd be all like yeah then maybe you should walk there. Or let me call you somebody and whatever call the cops. So no way in hell I would ever roll the window down or open a door they'd be locked. And I never would pick up someone at night like that especially if you're alone. Always call a cop or fucj sake people don't don't pick anybody up make sure you call the police. Even if you're with somebody make damn sure that you call someone tell someone that there's somebody on the side of the road. And do not pick them up.
I feel really sorry for genuinely innocent hitchikers, who will rarely get rides because of assholes like this.

I only hope they understand why they can’t get rides… There was one dude with a broken down car on the side of the road. I’m a small woman. But the weather was starting to turn and I felt so bad for him that I pulled up behind him and asked if he was okay, and even offered to jump his car since I had cables in my trunk. He politely declined and said his buddy was on the way. I wished him well and drove off, but sometimes I still get nervous about the decision to stop for a stranger, especially a grown man twice my size. I also wonder how many people passed him before anyone stopped to at least ask if he was okay, even if it wasn’t an offer for a ride. I wouldn’t have given him a ride but still, was he grateful for my concern? What happened to him, I wonder? Did I make any kind of impression?
I like to believe that I had restored some small amount of faith that good people were willing to help the helpless, as a trucker all the way on the other side of a highway pulled over when he noticed me on the side of the road (nothing was wrong with my car but I was trying to get a spider out of the door and was very distressed that I couldn’t, and when I explained this problem to the trucker he almost died laughing).
I'm so addicted to these stories, it's sad.

That happened to my friends father too. He picked up a hitch hiker treated him to dinner and dropped him off. The man told him I got in the car with the intension of robbing you but you were so nice. I didn’t. Don’t pick up a hitch hiker.
Daaaaammmnnn!!! Story #1 gave me CHILLS once the hitch hiker told the driver what he really intended on doing to her. Either God was truly watching her, and it just wasn't her time yet, or she was just VERY lucky that night. Same with the other two

Years ago, my older brother’s friend “Floyd” picked up a hitchhiker, a burly and scary looking dude. Floyd was a traveling salesman, he had some valuable looking samples in the back of his vehicle. The big hitchhiker noticed and mentioned this. Floyd saw another hitchhiker, a younger looking and well dressed man. Floyd picked him up, thinking that guy would help him if the big hitchhiker tried anything. The younger man pulled a gun and said “Okay you two, gimmie your watches, wallets, and the keys to the -OOMP!”
The big hitchhiker cold cocked the younger one, took his gun, and said “I got his gun! What else he got!? Stupid kid! I been in the business twenty years and never got cold cocked once!” Floyd panicked and said “D-don’t hurt me, mister! Just take what you want and go!” The big hitchhiker smiled and said “Relax, kiddo! I’m not gonna rob you! It’s my day off!”.

*Story Time*
I was 15 at the time, my parents were divorced, my dad had came to pick me up and we were coming to an end of our 4 hour journey to his house. We had just driven through this quiet little village and were on a stretch of barren country road (My dad lived on a fairly large 60 acre property). It was about 11:30pm, my dad has a habit of picking me up late since he prefers to drive at night, he left at 4pm to come and get me so either way it was a 8 hour drive there and back.
There was no moon out, and the only light was our headlights, their was no radio to listen to as there was no signal were we were compared to the decent reception we have on dad's property itself. I was getting sleepy when the jolt of my dad hitting the brakes suddenly woke he up. I didn't have time to ask my dad what was going on when I looked forward and saw a figure standing in the middle of the road.
He had long hair, no shoes and dressed in a white robe (Basically he looked like Jesus), he just stood there and didn't move. Me and my dad were just stuck there for half a minute in a staring contest with this creepy guy, he then stuck his thumb up like he wanted a lift, yet it seems like he'd made a point of blocking the road instead of hopefully getting a lift while he walked along. My dad rolled down the window and yelled at him to move but the guy just stood there, from what I could see my dad's comment had made him angry...
In a matter of moments that still haunt me to this day the guy reached in to the back of his belt with his free hand a aimed a pistol at us before walking towards the car. We just sat there as he approached my dad's side of the car, just before he could get there my dad slammed on the accelerator and barrelled down the road while this guy started popping of shots at the back of my dad's truck and screaming.
We got the farm and my dad called the police striaght away, they never did find the guy in the end but as far as I know he's never given anyone else any trouble in the area. Dad found two bullet holes in the tailgate of the truck which he had to get fixed but besides that we were ok...

I have hitchhiked before. As a young girl. Among others, when I was drunk, 17 and while it was the middle of the night. The guy who picked me up was in a white van. He was english and talked about he was working with the summer festivals. He was super nice and drove me all the way to my destination. I was pretty lucky.

I'm a big fan of your channel, and I must say that out of all the scary stories you tell, the first one on this video is what horrified me the most, and what gave me the most intense chills.

Hitchhiking is such a pleasure and wonderful experience, no more dangerous than driving a car! Because it's just as possible to happen to run upon a sick individual (no matter which side of the steering wheel you are), as it is to come upon a drunk driver, who will hit you and kill you in your car, no matter how good and safe you drive!

my father hitchhiked in the summer of 72 and the man started making passes at him after he asked to let him go the man pulled out a hunting knife ended up. he chopped three of his fingers off.somehow my father fought back got the knife and killed the man. thank god he got off on self defense. but the driver had three victims he killed in 67 68 and 1971.I always asked when I was a kid why his fingers were missing. he didn't tell me this story till I was 19 and it gave me so much more respect for my father.he survived did what he had to do to survive making him my absolute hero

I've both hitchhiked and picked up hitchhikers (during the day-time). As a hitchhiker, I learned that it can be difficult to get a ride and some people will angrily honk at you for no reason, but once someone stops, there is a good chance they'll be really nice and seem pleased they can help you. As for picking up hitchhikers, I learned they were always really glad that someone finally stopped and I feel good about having a chance to help a random stranger out. Buses and trains don't go everywhere or not too often, and can be quite expensive. While it's really important to keep in mind that not everyone is so nice and stay safe, it is also a shame that it has such a bad reputation nowadays. I would think it is more dangerous to go for a night out with people you just met than to hitchhike, with everything you do you should think about the dangers and whether they are worth taking, but not all people you randomly meet in a bar are serial killers. . .
If I lived in Alberta or British Columbia, Canada I would NEVER take my chance just to be nice

The first story really makes me happy and it tells you how just being nice can make a difference. Love is the only thing capable of turning an enemy into a friend. The man said he couldn't bring himself to do evil against her because she was so nice.
