I agree with you! I def think it’s one you have to get your hands on and find what works for you ❤ Thank you so much!! I hope you’re having a wonderful day
I am 30 squares in using a 5.5mm hook. I just eliminated the ch 1 inbetween each 3 dc clusters and if I had a little extra of one color, I just did a few sl st to take up that color. It’s great once you get the hang of it.
That’s awesome! I love hearing what works for people in this yarn it’s pretty cool the variety of hook sizes and pattern adjustments there are and seeing beautiful results 😊
I just made two balls of granny squares, in the pink punch. I have a big ballk of the lavender to match and that's going to go one more round for a cardigan. 6 different ways of granny squares, and it is what I call do over and over yarn, sometimes, but once in a while it was exact.
you are a lifesaver ! thnx so much for making this video! i was getting so discouraged this is my first time making granny squares and ur vid helped me so much !
This is so much nicer looking than the one on the label. Two thumbs up, if I could! I found a bunch at Henderson Texas Walmart and they had it on clearance for $4 a ball. I got some nice colors and am happily making up some gran squares!
Thank you so much I tried following the instructions on the package but it didn’t work and than I tried doing it my way it didn’t work I gave up but than I wanted to try again and I came across your video and its working thank you so much ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! Every other video I’ve watched has been pretty negative about this yarn so I was going to bag it. I tried your pattern and it worked out really well. I had to drop down to a 4.5 mm hook for the last round though. Thanks again 😊
I did this today with the same yarn you used with 5.5mm. I followed corrections exactly. There was some fiddling. But I got it. What I didn’t like was their method of granny square. I’ll have to try yours!!!
I have watched so many videos using this yarn and none compare to yours. I wasn't going to waste my time and money on this, but I may try it your way. I'm not crazy about the colors though. I prefer muted colors. Hopefully, they will come out with some later. Thanks so much for this tutorial!
I love this yarn...I use it for large projects...using 5m hook and 5 or 6 balls of one color.... Works well and looks fabulous. Perfect for lap afghans No fuss and no other...prob is can't get anymore?? Hoping Walmart gets more in as I need to finish Off two projects..happy hooking everyone.
I knew there had to be an alternative to this pattern! I did not like the chain 6 in the beginning and the end. It looked so bad! This technique looks much better! Thank you!
I've been attempting the Yarnspration cardigan pattern that calls for the this yarn, and the granny squares have been a nightmare with either too much left over at the end or not enough. Are your squares 4"? If that is so, I'll use your pattern instead. Thank you for this tutorial.
In that situation I think you might have to cut 🤔 if you absolutely didn’t want to cut maybe slip stitch back and forth 🤔 I haven’t tried that but that’s a great question
I would look here on RUclips for 1/2 Granny Square patterns. They do exist & have made them in the past. If not check google or Ravelry. You will need to cut your yarn just use an invisible join and you won't even see it. The invisible joins do not come loose either and work great with this yarn. I have a few squares where the yarn was shorted in length and I added extra color from skeins that had extra color at the end as the last row on some skeins that were extra long. This yarn can be very inconsistent but forgivable & there are so many ways to hide the fiddly bits. 😊🧶💕
@@cherylpemberton1676I have also done Sunbursts and corner to corner Granny squares & they turned out pretty perfect too. I saw the African Violet square & plan to use it with the blanket I make for myself after I finish my hubbies. I drew up a blanket design on paper and my blanket is going to be pretty fun. I found Caron yarn with glitter thread in it that is the same size and am 1st going to go around all my squares with black & then join them with the black sparkle yarn and a row around the whole blanket as well. This blanket is going really fast & has been an experiment but a fun one for sure. Not having to weave in ends has been a joy and makes things go so much faster for me. 😊🧶💕
@@debbiefox6846, I read your lovely description, and I would DEARLY LOVE to see your finished projects!! If it wouldn't be too much trouble, would you mind PLEASE dropping a couple of photos here? PLEASE?!
@@debbiefox6846, P.S. I thought I'd marked where the African Violet directions are, but cannot find it. Would you be able to drop the info here please?
Not a fan of this yarn. My skein had the color bleeding onto the next color. Even in the last round that was supposed to be soft (light pink actually) with spots of hot pink. I used an H hook and it would work for some squares then other squares the hot pink would have a lot left over. Could not find a matching solid in red heart to use for putting together. Used Caron simply soft purple. Frustrating.
You may be able to find someone selling them on ebay that ships internationally. What a shame they are only selling here & Canada. I'd check ebay or maybe someone selling yarn on Ravelry as well. Hope you find some. 😊🧶💕
This yarn is not for me. It’s too much work. I need granny to relax. They are minors and fun … sort of like eating potato chips. I’m happy for those who find the shine, fun, and easy to use, but it’s not for me. Thanks for an interesting podcast.❤😊
It’s been a hit or a miss- I’ve enjoyed using it but I know it isn’t for everyone. I couldn’t ever get the color pooling yarn to work for me 😅 I was so excited when I got this to work ☺️
I think it’s one of the yarn that you just have to get and try for your own self. thanks for sharing. Hope you’re having a good morning.❤

Thank you for this! I was about to give up until I came across your video! ❤
Finally! Thank you so much! I made my first square thanks to you!! I’m so happy!
Thanks for this instruction. I like to stack the singles too so this worked perfectly!

I tighten tension on the last round too. Everything you did is almost exactly how I’ve started to use this yarn.
That’s awesome! I’m really loving this yarn and hope they expand the color line 😊

This was so helpful! Thank you!!
I have watched a number of videos and about 12 attempts at 1 square. Your video finally got me there! Thank you!
I will definitely follow your directions when my new yarn arrives! Thank you!
Awesome! If what i showed doesn’t work out for you I’ve heard people having to size up and size down their hooks. 😊
Thank you! Every other video I’ve watched has been pretty negative about this yarn so I was going to bag it. I tried your pattern and it worked out really well. I had to drop down to a 4.5 mm hook for the last round though. Thanks again 😊
Nix that. I dropped to a 4.0 mm hook and it works like a charm 💖💕
Awww I’m so happy to hear it works for you! ❤
I’m on my second color way now and the color lengths are completely different!! I’m going back and forth between 4, 4.5 and 5 mm hooks 😂

I kept having too much of one color and when I finally found the sweet spot for the purple, my magenta wasn't used up enough 😭
How would you do 1/2 square, which some patterns call for?

Is there a big difference between this Red Heart yarn and the old variegated Red Heart Yarn?
Have had such an impossible time getting this to work using the label instructions.
P.S. One gal had a video of making African Violets granny square!
Hopefully this video helps some 💓
