I've had the Garmin Forerunner 55 for 6 months and use it only for running, and it does all I want for this activity. I sync it with PC using USB, and all the metrics and route are displayed there. I do not use it with the phone. GPS, HR and battery are all good. All features work as intended. It does the job with no mess and no fuss.
Hi @zeniktorres4320, I have an Apple Watch SE, it’s fine for a Half Marathon but I want to start using it for marathons. The battery definitely won’t last that long, I wanted to know if the Garmin watch syncs with apple health?
@@DTOWNRW16 I just felt it was time for a new watch, my friend was in need of a new watch and he had a 45 S, and being the nice friend i am i gave hime the 55 ad i got the 265
@@puma_798 I switched to the 265 because i thought it was time for a new watch as the vibration had worn out and i wasnt a fan of the screen, no hate to the 55. it did its job. i just wanted something better
Never had a smartwatch,so genuine question. Does this work without having a phone with you?I only need it for my run so i don't have to carry my phone with me.
Correct. It will work great without your phone. Once you are back with your phone the watch will sync with your phone and then you can view the data in the Garmin Connect app.
I thought the display is very dim and small. Some of the text and stats is quite small in size, unless you have great vision you’re gonna struggle to read the smaller text. Overall I’m disappointed after moving from my forerunner 35
I get it, Garmin watches are tough and offer a ton compared to other smart watches, but come on, did they raid a '90s electronics clearance bin for that screen resolution?
Hi Looking for my father ... He does not see very well, wondering if i can find a garmin who can read the display.... Do u know if there s something that can help Thanks! H
I want to track the calories I burn while playing tennis. I understand there are other models that have the tennis activity, but I don’t have the budget. Can I accomplish my calorie counting goals with this watch while playing tennis?
I got my 55 yesterday. I had 45s but it was hanging on with 1 screw each plus some superglue. Question. On display it shows the phone with slash on it does that mean it’s not connected to phone? I been trying to fix it but nothing. It that normal though?
How can i add "floors" on my daily activity? I do 15 000 steps per day and i climb almost 8 floors (work and home), but at the end of the day it doesnt show me how "floors" i climbed (based on my steps) . Thank you
Hi, I'm very very new to smart watches (I HAVE NEVER OWNED ONE) But I'm after one now. Can you tell me please, #1 Do I have to have it connected to my phone for the GPS to work, and also does the GPS track distance and time taken ? as that's all I really need. #2 do you think this would be any good for me when I'm on in my Kayak ? I do know there are kayak tracking watches But their so expensive, however, this one has a great price tag. Any help and information you can give me would be much appreciated.
Don't know about the kayak measuring, but the GPS is internal to the watch and actually pretty accurate for the price. It does track distance and time so for runs you are all covered. A bit late but maybe you didn't buy it just yet :D
Just got this watch today. Really not liking the options. I got a $30 amazon watch that does all this...with a better screen. I wish the biggest Garmin watches fit my little wrist.
@@dominiquerichardson706 I have the Amazfit Bib 3 Pro. I bought it as my first ever running watch since it was so cheap. As a beginner I didn't know much so it worked fine. now that I'm a much better runner Im noticing how bad the watch actually is. The GPS sometimes stops tracking the miles and it only tracks half my run. The pace is also very funky it takes a while to calculate, it jumps from 20 to 4 to 9, It's not good at all when calculating the pace. I'm looking to buy a Garmin watch, it's very expensive but cheap isn't always better.

That sounds exactly like I'm thinking of using it if I buy it, can you sync it to your tablet?
Can you connect the watch through wifi? Is this good for cycling? Thank you.
