I have the Huawei Fit 2 and purchased the new 165. I use them at the same time and they are quite similar in terms of GPS. I found the VA5 being better at cycling HR accuracy than the 165 when compared to a H10. A bit strange, since they have the same sensor. Perhaps the difference is in the software, the way the watch sits on my wrist or which wrist it's on. The 165 was better at tracking HR during running - the VA5 took a little longer to warm up, but then matched the 165 quite well. My 165 had some glitches with HRV tracking (gaps in the graph) while the VA5 was fine. Restarting it seems to have solved the issue. The VA5 detected me being awake a bit better where the 165 said I was sleeping light. Both are nice watches and I'd actually like one that's a combination of the two.

I think the most important thing is to have the best accurate heart rate sensor than gps because as far as i know sleep tracking , running and all of the other features are being measured by HR. 3rd important thing is the software because i like when i do fitness garmin recognise which move i make (like bench press or barbell squat) this is amazing. Or apple recognises if i do rowing . Even though i like garmin eco system or app the most because of apple measures the most hr accuracy so that sleep tracking im being have to use apple watch
Hallo Rob, can you review more Xiaomi or Redmi watches? There are a lot of new ones... Just bought Huawei Band 9 somehow looks the same as the predecessor but hoping it really does have an upgrade since I got my Band 8 damaged... Thank you for your reviews they're very helpful
There are some who question the Polar 10 as being the gold standard for measuring variable heart rate as it’s not a three channel ecg device. It would be interesting to see a comparison of the results between the polar 10 and a three channel ecg device. You do wonder if any smart watch can actually measure heart rate with any accuracy (hence the variance in results even between watches with the same heart rate monitor) or if it’s really just a marketing ploy.
I found with some wrist hr devices that I could get low readings because I believe, that holding the bars when cycling, and putting weight on hands, must affect blood flow cutting it off a little explaining low readings. Lifting hand off the bars a little made readings go up.
Mine seems to massively overestimate my awake time - often by over an hour. For instance, last night I went to bed at around 11:00pm and am pretty confident I was out cold within 15-20 minutes, based on my audiobook sleep timer. But the device doesn’t have me falling asleep until midnight, and then it thinks I was waking up for periods of up to 30-40 minutes for the first half of the night, whereas I only remember waking up once, briefly, to go to the bathroom. Relatedly, the sleep scores I get align pretty poorly with my subjective sense of how well I slept or how rested I am. I get almost universally bad scores despite often feeling reasonably rested, and often what feels like my best sleep gets a poor score (again, last night is an example of that). I’m not totally clear on why this is. I have a relatively high RHR and low HRV. I also have been told I move around a lot in my sleep. I don’t know if these factors inflate my awake time/suppress my sleep score. But I guess I just want to put it out there that from a subjective/qualitative perspective, I don’t find the sleep tracking very good on this device.
вы меня удивили, потому что везде и всюду в каждом форуме, посвящённому фитнес-часам, есть люди, которые рекомендуют garmin как лучший выбор из всех для тренировок, некий эталон 🤭

Yes looks like a good watch. Can you recommend a fitness watch around 400$ max. I run and workout each thrice a week and once a month go hiking. Need something for a long time with good app support. Not so much inclined towards having music as i generally dont listen to music. Your suggestion will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
I bought this watch and was pleased to see an elevation data field option on the watch face, but after the watch updated, it disappeared. After contacting garmin they confirmed that they removed the feature to "differentiate it as a lower tier watch". Not a good look for garmin. Retuned the watch.
I think you dont put the garmin watches tight enought? because other reviewers have very diffrent data for outdoor cycling and weight lifting much more accurate than you.
So many of Garmin's features are centered around HRV. What is the HRV accuracy like? Would it be the same as HR accuracy? Also, thanks so much for the work you do!
1:00 I'm also annoyed by these artificial restrictions, but only really because the high end watches are ridiculously clunky, and I definitely don't want to wear these day to day.
Groetjes!

I think there is clarification needed. There are so many watches underperforming, or fairing literary bad. The Forerunner 165 here also. Is there a possibility of this being related to some physical condition of your wrist or arm? To be clear: I do not doubt your methods, or such.
Why do so many say how terrible the GPS is on the 165, when they never used it themselves in many comments on other RUclips channels. Are they just going by word of mouth?

Hi, why is Huawei GT3 Pro missing from the chart? I bought GT3Pro after watching your videos but right no I want to compare it with Coros Pace 3 and Garmin Forerunner 165.. Thank you
Hi Rob. Any chance you could review the new Samsung Galaxy fit 3 tracker ? Thanks. Very good reviews by the way. I bought my Fitbit charge 5 after watching your videos and it exceeded my expectations until off course that infamous update.
Hi Rob @TheQuantifiedScientist I really like your reviews, well explained, well organized. as you said for the GPS you can't quantified precisely, i'd choose the huawei GT3 pro for the very good heart rate, but it's not so good GPS. Which one you tested, is better gps for middle prices? thanks Nicolas
I wonder how much of the delays in HR monitoring for the watch are due to the watch being both the sensor and the processor? I was thinking that perhaps the Polar H10 strap only collects raw data and relies on a separate device, such as a computer, to process the data.
When I practice Qigong, my heart rate drops sharply to 30 beats per minute in certain poses, even though everything looks fine on my Apple Watch. Also, when climbing to the fifth floor, my Apple Watch shows a heart rate of 160-170, while my Garmin shows it dropping to 50-60.😔
Could you please test mi band 8/pro for heart rate accuracy during running as well? I want a cheap but fairly accurate hr tracking. If it performs similar to garmin 165 would be interesting! And definitely a buy for me. Looking forward to your test 😅
Why is the heart rate measurement of Galaxy Watch 5 way better (see 6:30) than that of Galaxy Watch 5 Pro? Seems strange. EDIT: I actually watched a bit of your Galaxy Watch 5 Pro review and it also achieved >0.98 correlation coefficient for indoor cycling, the same as Galaxy Watch 5 so it seems like there is an error here.
Hello. I had an Apple Watch but realized my bf’s Garmin was so much better for my needs. I wish I could see all the watches in front of me. Doing this online is not so easy for me. Can you give your opinion? I am 62, CrossFit,bike and walk. Like to watch my workouts and overall wellbeing. Wanted touchscreen Hope I am not asking too much. I appreciate your wisdom and time. I am petite (large face won’t work) btw. At 62 I don’t want to complicated or perfection.
Great review. I was checking this and the FR165 but my main concern is the sleep. what can you recommend between Coros Pace 3 and Garmin FR165 in terms of Heart rate and Sleep monitoring? thanks
I am confused. At minute 8:38, you are comparing the different watches by running, but when you reviewed the Charge 6 was weighted heavily in running, and here it appears as 0.83 range ? O.O
Wouldn’t this all be horrible if your ecg sleep device was not accurate since you’re comparing all devices to it? After all, they did go out of business.
Hi, love your videos! Do you have any recommendations for a smartwatch for cycling? Maybe interesting for a seperate video! I now own the pixel watch 2 for heart rate accuracy, but the screen is so tiny while cycling you really can't see the information properly😂

hope rob quickly does a review of the watch fit 3, due out any day !
Hey would you be able to do a review on the ScanWatch 2. Thanks so much and btw your videos are awesome best in this category by far
amazing video! Thank You!!!!
Thanks for the videos Rob! Any chance you could see how the Withings ScanWatch 2 compares to their older models you reviewed?
Hallo Rob, can you review more Xiaomi or Redmi watches? There are a lot of new ones... Just bought Huawei Band 9 somehow looks the same as the predecessor but hoping it really does have an upgrade since I got my Band 8 damaged... Thank you for your reviews they're very helpful
Can you please review the new Galaxy Fit 3, please please please plzzz
When will you test the new Huawei Band 9?
I’m interested in underwater swimming tests, but I can’t seem to find any information. Could you provide a review?
Great video, having music also is a huge plus, will probably end up buying the watch. Are you planning on review the samsung fit 3? I have a watch 6 and I'm thinking in getting the fit 3 as an lighter alternative (mainly to sleep)
OnePlus watch 2 please
Hello @TheQuantifiedScientist
Can you please make a review on Forerunner 265 or 265s preferrably
I saw your review of 965 and 165 and saw a good deviation between the two
Wondering how 265s would perform as it is in my bucket list
Thank you!
Wtf? So they removed it?
Confirmed this happened on my early 165 release as well
Yup.

Please do the galaxy fit 3
I think there is clarification needed.
There are so many watches underperforming, or fairing literary bad. The Forerunner 165 here also. Is there a possibility of this being related to some physical condition of your wrist or arm? To be clear: I do not doubt your methods, or such.
Do you consider making a Ultrahuman ring review ?
Yes, I have been testing it for a long time!
@@TheQuantifiedScientist any tentative date on when we can expect the ultrahuman review to drop? I've been waiting for your review to buy one
Why do so many say how terrible the GPS is on the 165, when they never used it themselves in many comments on other RUclips channels. Are they just going by word of mouth?
Review of Huawei Band 9?
had this watch… love for everyday watch but ready for basic sensor. for me.. it more than enough .. dont like fancy sensor all in at one watch.. witch from App s7
Hi, why is Huawei GT3 Pro missing from the chart? I bought GT3Pro after watching your videos but right no I want to compare it with Coros Pace 3 and Garmin Forerunner 165..
Thank you
Huawei band 9 vs Samsung fit 3 would be so good!! Even tho probably hard for you to get the huawei one
Hi Rob. Any chance you could review the new Samsung Galaxy fit 3 tracker ? Thanks. Very good reviews by the way. I bought my Fitbit charge 5 after watching your videos and it exceeded my expectations until off course that infamous update.
Hi Rob @TheQuantifiedScientist
I really like your reviews, well explained, well organized.
as you said for the GPS you can't quantified precisely, i'd choose the huawei GT3 pro for the very good heart rate, but it's not so good GPS.
Which one you tested, is better gps for middle prices?
thanks
Nicolas
Do the new enduro please!!!
How about Suunto race s, Sir. I can't wait to see your test on Suunto race s, please...
I’m interested in smart rings, hope you’ll test the ultrahuman.
I wonder how much of the delays in HR monitoring for the watch are due to the watch being both the sensor and the processor? I was thinking that perhaps the Polar H10 strap only collects raw data and relies on a separate device, such as a computer, to process the data.
great video
So strange that 165 and Fenix 7 pro get different HR performance. Even 265 in comparison. They are supposed to be the same HR sensor.
I like my garmin 265 for the battery and running functions, but its dissapointing to see how inaccurate they all are!
When I practice Qigong, my heart rate drops sharply to 30 beats per minute in certain poses, even though everything looks fine on my Apple Watch. Also, when climbing to the fifth floor, my Apple Watch shows a heart rate of 160-170, while my Garmin shows it dropping to 50-60.😔
What’s strange is that during a walking workout on the Apple Watch, the heart rate is often missing from the graph when reviewing the workout.
Please review Samsung Galaxy Fit 3.
he said his friend is doing research now and he will upload results soon, probably next video
Working on it!
No Sapphire glass = No purchase. Especially from a company that does not make spare parts readily available.
Are these tests based on Garmin's app. Do you have any comparisons utiliting one of these trackers with the Sleep As Android app?
Wanted touchscreen
Hope I am not asking too much. I appreciate your wisdom and time.
I am petite (large face won’t work) btw. At 62 I don’t want to complicated or perfection.
Nice video. Wondering are you using R or Python for your data analysis? Not that it matters. Statistician in the market for my first sports watch.
Great review. I was checking this and the FR165 but my main concern is the sleep. what can you recommend between Coros Pace 3 and Garmin FR165 in terms of Heart rate and Sleep monitoring? thanks
Suunto Vertical and Race. Wheeeeen? :D
I am confused. At minute 8:38, you are comparing the different watches by running, but when you reviewed the Charge 6 was weighted heavily in running, and here it appears as 0.83 range ? O.O
are you planning on reviewing the new fit 3 from Samsung?
Im really Curious to know if it is as accurate as huawei fit bands
Can you use the Apple Watch on your ankle and get reliable data? I have a few, and it would be great to use one to capture lower body movement.
Wouldn’t this all be horrible if your ecg sleep device was not accurate since you’re comparing all devices to it? After all, they did go out of business.
Are you going to review the forerunner 265? Very curious what that watch will say
Hi, love your videos! Do you have any recommendations for a smartwatch for cycling? Maybe interesting for a seperate video! I now own the pixel watch 2 for heart rate accuracy, but the screen is so tiny while cycling you really can't see the information properly😂
Get a chest strap.
Do you also do smart rings? It would be nice if you could review the Ultrahuman Ring Air some time in the future.
He's done Oura a few times so I'd think it's only a matter of time.
