Sir Wyn Williams, Chair of the Post Office Inquiry, outlines his reasons why he REFUSES to Delay the Post Office Inquiry despite great difficulties again with the late disclosure of evidence from the Post Office to the Inquiry.
He takes the decision that the Inquiry will proceed as planned as much as possible and only where necessary will evidence and testimony be rearranged due to the disclosure difficulties presented to the Post Office Inquiry team.

Adore him. Working class boy from the Rhondda Valley, got into Oxford via local grammar school. Full rugby playing and chorister credentials. Such a nice, affable man. I love the courteous, slightly bewildered manner with which he intervenes before he nails the recalcitrant witness to the floor.

Totally agree a model of integrity. The NI Sunday bloody Sunday inquiry springs to mind where it took something like 9 years. Trebles all round.

Brilliant 'judgement'. Cannot believe the Post Office tried to take Sir Wyn and his Team for fools!!! The PO just keep digging that hole.

The obfuscation and downright delay and misdirection by the Post Office and its witnesses and legal wranglings are just disgusting and call for further charges just relating to their engagement with this inquiry and any legal comliance requirements. We need to see Post Office executives and their lying lawyers and investigators serving jail time for this and heavy compensation for their victims and the families of lost victims.

Paula Vennells ought to be immediately sent to a remand prison and held there to await her trial.
Also, her trial dates should also be repeatedly delayed over the course of the next two decades to match the PO delays.

I was a bit worried when I saw Wyn and wondered if he'd be up to it but my goodness, isn't he on the ball! He's brilliant and no matter how much those who were in charge of the Post Office try to squirm their way out of it, they can't pull the wool over Wyn's eyes. Sam Stein's questions are damning and I love Flora Page!

DELAY is a standard practice of ‘defence’ attorneys when their case is big in the media. Well done Sir Wyn. And a standard excuse of ‘defence’ is there is too much work to do.

I can understand that he wishes to re-emphesize that the inquiry is his to lead and he's happy with the accumulation of evidence heard so far, but i also think this is a 'public warning' for the Post Office that no matter how many attempts they make to divert and delay and continually ask 'where's the paperwork ?" the more he intends to push on. Which is good.

it was shitty and uncooperative to dump the big data at the last minute, but now they can't try to withhold it in future trials and data analysts / IT experts can be brought in as consultant to search/index/parse it.

    • @keegan773
      @keegan773 Месяц назад +1

The POL is still trying to control the inquiry by dumping large amounts of data, a lot of it duplicated, on a timeline that is intended to slow down the evidence to be given.

I think the most telling statement of that days evidence came at the very end of Sir Anthony Hoopers evidence when asked if he had anything in general to say and he said that it indicates how bad the current legal system is when the prosecution doesn't have to divulge everything amd that defendants are now finding it hard to get quality defence lawyers now that Legal Aid has been so curtailed (that was paraphrased)

Who, exactly, wants to hold up the enquiry?
Perhaps we should have the names.
Sir Wyn, don't listen to those who want delays. It is a sure sign that some either in-team or outside want an easy ride, or would be happy if the enquiry never concluded.
If they're in-team, I'm afraid they may need to be sacked. I've seen this behaviour from team members before, who think they should determine the pace of delivery. This is unacceptable.

I need to tell @steviemac9055 that Wyn Williams is still the working class boy from my native Rhondda Valley, and still lives there in my old hometown of Porth. No ‘selling out’ or spitting on his past for him. He is the president of his local male voice choir, and still wonderfully speaks in a spectacularly unadulterated Rhondda Valley accent. (Dai Woosnam)
