Thank you for this creative excursion - I swear, I will never set this subdivision dicing rate below one :D Normaly I try to avoid and skip to long explanations in tutorials, but this was so nicely done. I also like how smoothly it is integrated into the tutorial. (I think I spent more minutes to see again and again how to activate the Node Wrangler Addon while watching Blender tutorials than i spent with your beautyful side story)
I didn't expect a tragic tale of woe with my tutorial today! I am properly chastened about the dangers of setting the dicing rate below 1. Actually, seriously, I won't forget it now, while if you had just mentioned it, it would already have fluttered out of my mind. ;) Catty aside -- I just came from a 2:19 video on setting up multiple cameras (2:19!!! Short and sweet; I was thrilled to find it). In the comments some entitled twat was berating the OP for wasting time on creating a quick setup of colouring an object to show on camera before launching into the meat of the tutorial. Twat must have spent more than 2 minutes commenting because he wouldn't shut up after OP told him politely that beginners often appreciate a little setup where they can follow along. I was amused imagining the conniption twat would throw over THIS tutorial. I like concise tutorials myself (big fan of Blender Secrets). But I also don't mind when somebody gets creative and has a little fun with it; that's its own kind of extra bonus that makes the day a little brighter. Not everything needs to be super-efficient.
Good afternoon sir. Amazing talk. Sir I have a question, may I proceed? It's about a career in archi-vis. I've seen the previous video you posted online and I really learnt a lot. So may I?
@@imeshh I've been contemplating lately, if I should venture into archi-vis as my career path in 3D or game development. I understand the workflow of each very well. I'm skeptical about how to get jobs and how to standout in the field since I'm a student of engineering. Rumours have had it that, if I'm not an architect, then I can't work at a big studio or company that renders such services. Also, how will I make profit by selling my models such as couches and the likes? Sir, I'm just very anxious. I'm pretty lost now and I need guidance 😭.
@@Douye_Adedeji2696 Hey, I'd argue that it isn't hard at all if you're not an architect. As an archivis artist you're essentially a photographer. Your skills are to make beautiful images. That is why Architect firms hire Archviz firms to make their images. Yeah there are some architecture firms which do archviz in-house, but even then as long as you can read and understand floor plans, there isnt much more you need to know for your archviz work. Also, don't confuse Modelling furniture with Archviz. If you're starting out, I'd recommend choosing either one. Modelling or Archviz. They are both different skills to learn. If you want to do archviz then go for it and set your own goals and start building a portfolio. If you want to do furniture modelling then start learning that and build that portfolio. I can't say personally whether to go in the gaming or VFX industry as im 100% arch-viz, but from my view our industry is growing just like other 3D industries so i'd pick whichever interets you the most :)
@@imeshh Wow. I'm so grateful Sir for you response and clarification on the difference between Archi-vis and furniture modelling. By God's grace, I think I should be settling with archi-vis, though I have a strong desire to make furnitures, that would be a very handy skill that comes into play when a client strictly requests a type of furniture model unavailable to the public 😂. So thank you once more Sir. I do hope you have a lovely day.
@@Douye_Adedeji2696 No problem! And totally modelling is a great skill to have, but most funriture is available online at this point. But if I was you, I'd choose the main topic you want to learn and then make that your focus, while still of course learning other aspects :)
If adaprtive subdivision works only with quad topology then how we will be able to work with Sketchup and revit exported models who simply dont care about topology, these small things hindering me from shifting to Blender. Also, I am seeing lots of development in blender inside but very few in Archviz and BIM area and also not so active community.
It does work but you may need to lower the dicing rate a lot, and it depends on the model topology and tebdispacment map you want to use. Usually SketchUp models are terrible and should be retopologisdd anyway

This is how every tutorial should be made 🤣
Haha, definitely spices things up a bit

@@imeshh I had the same question! Very cool video! I like weird random humor lol. Great video and very helpful!

Awesome discussion. Answered a bunch of questions I had and some I didn't.

It's not a fix all but I usually take all the models, edit and use Face -> Tris to Quads to make most of the faces in the model quad faces.

Great videos as always iMeshh!
Thank you
