Viktor Axelsen has been untouchable and became World Number 1 in 2017. Until his nightmare, Kento Momota returned and took his place in 11 months.
    Fun fact:
There are only two names that dominated the World Number 1 spot from 28/09/2017 to 04/06/2024 - Viktor Axelsen and Kento Momota.
    Viktor Axelsen - 183 Weeks
    Kento Momota - 166 Weeks.

The difference is that Momota's dominance was unchallenged. There was no one who even seemed close to him. There are many who seem close to Viktor. Close enough to even beat him. People forget that in the 2019 world championship, Momota won the second set 21-3.

momota dominance is proved as he lost only 14 matches out of 200 matches after his comeback till 2020 , which amounts to bloody 92% win rate and that too against chen longs, gintings , lin dan, shi yu qui , to name a few and with world championships and 11 titles in a year guiness book of world record

I always believed Japan killed the golden goose for more than a year. He may well have gotten Olympic medalist. Allin all KM had some shitty career problems, the gaming problems, the severe accident and Covid time. If he wasn’t suspended he may well have been nr 1 for many more weeks and do I mean a lot more.

And yes, I do not think VA feels good about this but it made him the topplayer instead of KM. And, don’t get me wrong, I do like both players but KM really was a lot better in the years before your mentioned game, the thrashed VA in almost all games, see the head to head. Hello Mini Shuttle, I wonder where that manner of speaking "Destroying" does come from. VA is of course the no. 1 in badminton at the moment. He is really a great player. Kento Momota is my all time favorite player. I am sure he would never have speaked of "destroying" his opponent. So many people are talking about destroying . That scares me. I wish myself a little bit more of humble and polite acting and talking between the human beings. I believe that would improve a lot.

2:33 why even raise a hand? It was a net play anyway.
I mean, excellent sportsmanship from Kento for sure, but even if he hadn't raised his hand, it wouldn't have been unsportsmanlike at all.

In 2014 Lin Dan suffered a really bad knee injury playing futbol. 2015 was a huge drop off in wins for him and he had to adopt a more economical way of playing.

While VA is good, he is not anywhere near the great territory. I saw a video of prime VA vs old man LCW, and VA lost by straight sets. He has been fortunate enough to win two gold medals, but I don't think he is anywhere in the league of LD, LCW, and KM..

Everybody with badminton knowledge knows, VA moves so much better after the opperration, and would probably be eating Momota alive, in wich case HE DID, after VA surgery 2-0 for VA. Further more every1 knows there is only 1 guy ahead of VA on the GOAT list know, and thats Lin Dan, rest is below.
