    I'm here because of Axelsen's generous badminton masterclass on his RUclips channel. He's a decent online trainer and has created a great platform for untrained, fun young talents to follow his advice. Good explanation on the basic techniques and the fundamentals...wishing him the best for his sports career. And to play against the current No. 1 is surely a great honour for him.

      Some people say Momota's game was very boring...because he rarely hits big smashes...however I find his game a joy to watch...mastering the rhythm...accurate shuttle placement...moving and limiting opponent...neutralizing attacks...game reading...developing game strategy...strong mentality...Momota displays the art of badminton. I dare say his understanding of badminton is the best among current MS players.

    • @SirChocula
      @SirChocula 4 года назад +30

      @@yan5524 Completely agreed. Among all those, I'd say the most important are his consistency, defense and strong mentality. He will take the front court, make you lift & and run you all over the court until you make a mistake. He'll return 95% of your shots which frustrates players to no end, especially when the rallies are getting longer. When it does, he'll beat you on stamina.
      It's amazingly difficulty to consistently do this to the world's top 10s and Momota does it. The laymen may think that he's a boring player but those that understand the game knows his genius.

    • @yan5524
      @yan5524 4 года назад +4

      @@SirChocula Yeah, it's very difficult to beat Momota. Unless you have very steep attack (Axelsen and Shiyuqi) and super high pace (Ginting), as well as consistency, stamina and strong mentality. One occasional attack is not enough, you have to produce combo attacks. LCW has the speed and attack, LD is a very well rounded mastermind. Both can beat Momota when they were young.

    After this match, Kento Momota was travelling to the KL airport when the driver of his van crashed into the back of a lorry. The driver was instantly killed. Kento Momota was injured in the accident and he had to undergo surgery. The accident put an end to Momota's fantastic run of winning 11 international titles in 2019, being world champion and world number one.
    Although it's sad that the accident destroyed Momota's career, it could have been much worse. Momota could have been paralyzed or killed in the accident.

    Everyone was talking about how utterly invincible Momota was during this match. He seemed to win tournaments at will. Everyone tried everything against him, because he always pushes other players to the point of desperation.
    It's so tragic about what he's been through and how he is now. We know he's overcome 1 year suspension, accident and covid. I don't know what happened to him this time but I hope that whatever it is he will also overcome it.

      As i understand, he has issues with his vision and reaction speed now. This also creates a bit more hesitation in decision making, makes him slower, which is fatal for his defensive play style. He has also lost a lot of confidence now which is hard for him to build up knowing he is nowhere close to his past physical abilities, which creates more issues for his game.

      Nah it's called discipline, and attitude. There's a reason why players like LCW/PG/TH/LD are called legends. What separates good players and legends is their attitude and discipline. Kento is a player that has both and thats what makes him a champion. LD however is one of a kind, he has raw talent and he works hard, he is an exception for a player who puts out an attitude once in awhile. Not everyone is born that way.

    Not easy to come back in the second set, when you were unlucky and should have won the first set. A little more precise and more nerve Axelsen would be best... Momota could play 100% free in second and it shows.

    I don't see any other player could beat Momota in next year's OG. He plays so well and very consistent. The only thing that could prevent him winning olympics gold is himself, i.e.not playing at his usual best.
    It is true that MS is the least competitive sectors now alongside with WD and perhaps this "helps" Momota in some extent, but to be fair, we couldn't dismiss his endurance, shot accuracy, and skills especially in netting.
    He is not LCW and LD of course, as they play their best in different time and have their own's play style. It would be hard to compare between them, unless based on achievements.
    I'm not Momota fans by the way, i just share my thought.

    ey guys at 29.02 momota while defending for the smash seems to cover the right half of the court rather than the centre why does he do that ? wouldn't it have been better for him to stay in the middle ? or is this him trying to predict the shot path before the smash ?

    • @fuelsbadman8881
      @fuelsbadman8881 3 года назад +1

      I think kento knew that his clear was not far enough and he wouldnt be able to defend viktor's smash so kento kinda half gave up. It could also be kento predicting a cross court from viktor. I think its more likely to be the first scenario

    Please dont start goat conversations just because VA dominated a very weak era very conveniently after Chen Long (14-6 vs VA), old-LCW (13-3 vs VA) retired and Momota had a career altering injuring (13-0 in professional matches vs VA pre-injury)
    No one getting dominated this hard on the court can ever claim to be the GOAT - which is still obviously Lin Dan.
