    This was one of the best match I've had the chance to watch in a long time. Two very talented player playing in top shape (despite LCW old age). It was almost 2AM in the morning when I watched this live and the whole time I was quietly rooting for LCW. The only other time I felt the thrill of a match like this one was when LCW played LD way back at the 2012 Olympic game.
    The whole time I thought I was watching an anime brawl-out (think Prince of Tennis). Momota resemble the typical antagonist with the pimple under his right eyelid, and the thirst for a good game. And Lee Chong Wei being the main character everyone knows and love, playing at his country home at the age of 35, in front of all his fans, kids and wife. If you ask me, it would have been the perfect retirement match!
    Ps. Sorry, I watched too much anime.

He got this inherent charisma that resembles to a champion. If you pay attention, you will see Lee was quite easy to get tired during this match. He had to frequently play small tricks, such as asking the opponent to change birdies to buy him some time to recover his stamina. It is very likely that the cancer had already influenced him by that time without his notice.

      @Tornado Soul Nah, Momota just have to win 1 world champion title (which he did in 2014 in Thomas cup at age of 19) and his's depth already beats LCW. Breadth wise, I don't think people care as much besides LCW fans.

    • @jimyang8824
      @jimyang8824 4 года назад +2

      @Tornado Soul First , LCW lost his last match to Momota in Indonesian open in straight set. He won against Momota by a hair only when he had home support in Malaysia. Second, the fact is LCW 's prime is not 2000-2010 but 2007-2014. During that period, Lin Dan and Chen Hong are the only top tier player you mentioned. Taufik Xia Xuanze and Peter Gade long passed their prime already, and Chen Long was only starting out at the time. This leads to my third point, You can't really compare two generations of players here. If one really wants to compare, you compare the depth and breadth of titles. Depth wise, like I mentioned , LCW already lost to Momota, as he has 0 team and 0 personal world champion title , but momota has both. Sure, breadth wise, LCW had record number of titles, that's magnificent. I'm not saying thats easy. But if you think about it, LinDan doesn't play that many super series titles, Chen Hong is comparable to current CTC and Ginting level, then LCW barely has anyone competing with him for these super series titles. He's great no doubt, but you gotta be rational when looking at his achievement , especially comparing him with younger generation players

    Momota himself might be missing this level of the game.
    Lee is able to produce shots to the net from below the tape no one is technically and mentally able to pull.
    Combining that with the best defense and counter-attacking shots and you got a maxed stats player.
    At the start of the second round you can see the game LCW pulls when he is playing with confidence. Moving a stressed Momota around with that swag is a achievement on its own.
    If only the Malasian could have played that cold headed during Olympics.
    There is a reason why LEGENDS are in a league on their own and Kento-san have learned the meaning of the word that day.

    a 36 year old LCW is still able to defeat a 24 year old Momota, so I strongly think the best LCW is a better player than the best Momota. Momota is currently number 1 of the world but his best level till now is a little lower than the amazing league of LCW and Lindan.

    • @langsz

      well 36 year old LCW would also gonna beat 24 year old LCW, so what's your point ? momota hasn't even reached his peak yet.

      @@langsz lol the different here he beat Momota in FINAL match at 36 years old. He beat Axelsen (1) and Sugiarto who beat Shi Yu qi (3) in QF. Which player at 36 years can still beat all this top player and won that tournament? and in 2018 year MOMOTA won almost every tournament he joined except for this one due to LCW masterclass

    • @AgentJ2007
      @AgentJ2007 5 месяцев назад

      @@Farhan-hh6flthat’s incorrect. Ginting and shi yu qi beat Momota on 2018 as well. Momota beat LCW twice in 2018. LD won Malaysia open in 2019 defeating Shi yu qi and Chen long.

    I don't about other sports but there can never be players produced like lcw and Lin dan coz I think they are the ones who have reached max potential of this game as humanly as possible !
    If there is anyone in future he will surely be like lcw or lindan ..

    Reminiscing the past of great champions. Chong Wei was in his element displaying dazzling skills, mastery and above all patience . with full control of his emotions, taking on shuttle shot at a time and relishing in its final outcome. The variations of shots and coolness displayed was his forte that rattles his opponents especially his stubbornness in not wanting to lose any shuttle shots, made him into a classical champion. Long will the world badminton fans remembers him where badminton is concerned.
